    WTF happened at 1:09? 😉

Your 2-camera edit gives a glimpse of what can be achieved - and easily too - but wait until you start using four cameras. It's a whole nother thang.

@Silvia Bluejay sets them up at each gig while the band is setting up the PA & backline, so there's no extra time involved. She now has it to a fine enough art that we routinely do a 4-camera shoot even at one-hour festival slots, without ticking off the stage managers.

hmmm looked like a zoom cut wasn't edited properly. Not sure why you think its only 2 cameras, One in front, one on the drummer, one to the stage left of guitarist and one stage right of me.

Wish i had the time to set them all up as well!

I put the PA up inc desk, as well as lights, smoke machine, moving heads, never mind my own rig and pedal board!

    Anyway, your video looks great!

I've ended up going for the Zoom L8 following @skidder652003's enthusiasm for his band's L12, which should do the job nicely for the 4-piece covers band I'm taking the lead on this for. It's pretty modest in terms of cost (a little over £300) but the ability to provide 4 separate/tailored outputs to each band member will facilitate us getting wired / wireless IEMs which is the current plan, and the lack of individual monitor outputs was the key constraint to the otherwise excellent Allen & Heath mixing desks we've been using and which have done us proud since 2014.

Nice one, we have the L20 actually which is a fantastic bit of kit. good call on the L8

  3. if you're lucky you might get a hastily scrawled chalk board outside and a poster (you delivered) put up somewhere no one will see.

We have spent 10 plus years building a (modest) following. We advertise on our facebook page and link to the venues page.

For weekend warriors thats enough for us.

Thanks for listening! Sorry I need to get some better software for making videos, maybe final cut pro or something...

    The video is fine Joe.

How did you record the sound out of interest?

Did you use an audio interface like a scarlett focusright or similar into a DAW like Logic or Reaper?

That would give you excellent results.

I've set off a few fire alarms with our smoke machine, do hazers have the same issue?

they can do, i've heard of some bands who put dust covers over the smoke alarms with the permission of the landlord but obviously I couldn't condone such behaviour...

Just come across its junior sibling, which I'm really liking the look of:

    LIVETRAK L-8

    FEATURES

    8-channel mixer (6 combo, plus 2 TS)

    12-track simultaneous recording, 10-track playback

Mix-Minus function preventing audio feedback from dial-in guests

TRRS connection and included TRRS cable for phone connectivity

6 assignable Sound Pads, with 13 preset sounds

4 headphone outputs, consisting of 3 custom monitor mixes, plus one main mix

    3-band EQ and a low-cut function

7 scene memories for storing mixes

    12-in / 4-out USB audio interface

    Class-compliant mode (for iOS compatibility)

Battery operated with four AA batteries or a USB power supply

Record up to 24-bit/96kHz, record up to 48kHZ to computer and SD card simultaneously

This could be ideal for a 4-piece band to combine with IEMs without the need for a separate tablet and wireless router as an alternative to, say, the highly recommended RCF M18. At £333 (DV247) it's decently affordable, too.

Being able to tailor the custom monitor mixes is going to be key: e.g. more vox for the vocalist, bass for me, guitar for guitarist and the drummer can have full main mix. Plus having scenes to get settings stored for particular venues - perfect for our pub residencies. Add in the ability to record gigs onto an SD card (guess we would need to use an overhead mic for the drums, as this doesn't have enough inputs to individually mic up the full drum kit) and it's looking like a super useful piece of kit.

@skidder652003 how much customisation do the "custom monitor mixes" allow? E.g. can you cut the reverb to the vocal monitor out whilst having it present in the main monitor out and/or apply hpf (low cut) to the main monitor out but absent in the custom monitor mix?

Im not sure how much customisation there is TBH as I don't do the desk tuning so to speak (drummers job). I know I can ask or more guitar or vocal etc but beyond that Im not sure.

  7. Having been gigging with a Markbass CMD 12H combo for a while and really enjoying it;s super light weight and big sound, I decided to drag out from under the stairs the old Ampeg SVT-CL and 410 HLF that had been sulking away since before covid.

To be honest I wasn't actually expecting that much of a difference as I DI into the PA as well. I nervously fired it up (I'll not lie, I'm a little terrified of it) and apart from a bit of crackle on the master pot (made me stinky poo myself), all was good.

Took it to the venue (made sure it was an easy load in) and set it up.

    WOW WOW WOW

Unbelievable tone, huge Hef...(I'll not utter that word on here) and big creamy fat that I had forgotten all about. Zeps Heartbreaker sounded the best I've ever heard me play it. Even the guitarist and singer commented on how fab it sounded. I'd love to use it on all the gigs but it's just too heavy, so maybe it'll get an airing 2 or 3 times a year but by God what a sound, absolute beast. maybe there is some truth in the difference with valves? Don't want to necessarily spark that old debate but if you ever get the chance to gig with something like this, really, give it a go.  :)

I didn't call them butt holes that's just what the site  fills in. And people are doing nothing but expressing their opinion, I express mine and I'm a troll.

I don't need to look at your other posts because I'm not the one making personal attacks. That sounds kinda trollish to me, all I did was say Limp Biscuit sucks, I'm shocked anyone  I defending them.

You've both called me a troll and implied something about where I'm from. And called me daft, whatever the hell that is, it sounds a lot like an insult.

I've only expressed an opinion about a band.

And I'm the troll. I think you just don't like Americans, and that's why you are bullying me

You said something negative about SOAD right after the other guy said he liked them. Isn't that what you are now calling me a troll over?

By the way every band you guys are talking about are "wild Americans".

You guys sure know how to make a guy feel welcome. If you look at my other post I wasn't trolling anyone, that's just what you've made me into so you have a license to bully the new American. So when your moderator comes along he sees troll  and thinks you re defending yourself. Been there and done that. If you don't want Americans in your exclusive club you can just say so. Well, I guess you have, haven't you?

    No, you're very welcome, really.

But please appreciate this isn't Talkbass!
