1.
Good news, it's not he 80's :)
ha ha its not the 80's (although i have a secret guilty pleasure about mark king, but shhh dont tell the lads in the band!) Ive just taken delivery of ash's fab 83 JV squire P/J hybrid and have to say thats made quite a difference in my early learning curve, it slaps well good! Im sorry but i didnt mean all bass players should have to be able to slap to call themselves bass players - of course not! Its just a personal bug bear of mine that i dont feel I can call myself a bass player untill I can do something on the bass that my guitarist cant! :)

2. Ive always wanted to learn slap but i havent a clue where to start. It looks so hard, is it? Any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I dont feel like i can call myself a bass player untill ive got some grounding in this particular discipline.

3. Dr Duck's Axe Wax?
Ive used this for years, seems pretty good, but you may have heard of it already?

4.
An inspirational post, thanks. However, I doubt theres much call for a 55 yr old bass player who can't play..... :)
check out www.lemonrock.com ..theres always ads for bass players of all abilities to join bands, irrespective of age, great site, i found my band members there, drummer 50, guitarist 40, me bassist 46, we gig at least twice a month, paid too, anyone can do it, its not about technical ability, its about enthsiasm. String togeather a set list of old blues and well known rock standards (bass parts are a piece of piss!) and you're away! An audience will always relate more to a band showing that they are enjoying themselves rather than dazzling skill.

5. The superfly 2nd hand for about 100 quid aren't bad at all. Ive been using one for over a year now gigging regularly and it hasnt let me down. Plenty loud enough (500w @ 4ohm, 350 @ 8 ohm). If used with a nice tube preamp pedal (ie DHA VT2 or similar) make a light and cheap 2nd hand head.

6. Im sorry but was it me or as per usual, was every band bass player on the show tonight slinging a precision or a jazz WTF? Dont get me wrong, i love em but FFS whats that saying about every young bass player in a commercially successful band, sheep or what? Or does the "evil" empire of Leo have the industry's balls in a vice like grip of kudos and commercial nounce? - Discuss....

7.
nope I couldnt hear any bass either. I though it was because I was on the wee telly in the bedroom but i guess not!!!!!!!!!!!!
later with jools holland is usually rubbish and as per usual it didnt let me down! Couldnt hear the mighty JPJ at all :)

8. wow what a minefield! I just thought there were 60's jazz (silly money), 70's jazz (1-2 grand) and the rest. I couldnt afford a usa jazz for 600 quid so i thought i would opt for a jap model - the 62 issue being a favourite, now i hear there are several types! This one was on ebay but Im sorry but i now realize it was advertised on this forum some time ago so it might not be fair to evaluate another members asking price although i still dont know exactly what type of 62 jap reissue it is!

9. Hi guys
newbie here so go easy!
Ive been offered a 62 reissue MIJ fender jazz for £600. Is this a fair price? Im not too fussed over the condition cosmetically as its gonna get gigged regular although im lead to believe its in very good order. I dont know if they make em anymore so im not too sure of its true value. any advice much appreciated.

11.
If all the speakers are individually 8ohms, wire 2 in parallel to each socket giving 4 ohms available at each socket. Make sure the sockets are not connected to each other at all, and make sure the + on each speaker is connected to + from the amp (make sure all the speakers operate in phase)
Simples!
thats fantastic!
actually i spoke to a guy today who,s up to speed on this stuff and thats exactly what he suggested!
gonna take apart the cab now and take a look inside!
many thanks

12. hi guys
please help a newbie!
i have a superfly head @ 2 x 250watts RMS at 4 ohms. Obviously i would like to crank all that power into one cab.
i have a alumbass bullfrog 4 x 10 rated at 8 0hms and 800watt max with 2 parrallel jack inputs at the back.
would i be able and safe to take a lead from one of the 250 watt outputs into one jack input and the same again from the other 250 watt output into the other parrallel input in the cab. Would this give me more power than 250 watts?
Im completely lost with all the resistance stuff and would greatly appreciate any advice in case i fry the amp!
many thanks in advance.
steve
