I'm quite sure that Ronald MacDonald's fast food franchise has no place in the great North Midlands Kebab Crusade.  I'll call this a forgivable indiscretion.  Put it in the pages that show gastronauts what to avoid.

Ah the good old C&W circuit - an ageing audience, a room decorated with random tokens of Americana, and games of chance with crap prizes. My bread and butter...

I especially like to see the hardened fans.  The ones who really dress the part.  I'd jump at a spot in a C&W band just to experience that sort of engagement with the audience.

It's because it's not a part of our island culture that makes it work for me.  A departure from reality but not in an extreme way.  I'd draw the line at trying to sing with an American accent however.  Lots of showbands in Ireland did that in my youth and the memory still makes me cringe.
