  1. As Andy said, it’s definitely not an Instinct as they had solid finishes and no angled headstock. The Instincts were also built in China I believe, this was built in Czech. This is a P model so obviously wouldn’t have twin J pickups and a preamp. Interestingly I removed the neck to adjust the truss rod when I got it (you only actually have to remove the scratch plate), and it’s stamped “P1”, so could well be the first P model made. I’ll see if I can get some more info from Ashdown.
  2. Indeed, perhaps not one for the traditionalists. Although saying that, it's essentially a 24 fret P bass!
  3. Lodestone P Artist bass up for grabs. This bass was the premium model in the Lodestone range. I've heard various reports of these retailing between £1400 and £2k new! It's a very well put together bass with a gorgeous poplar burl top and deep trans black gloss finish. The neck is somewhere between a P and J in width and has a great feeling Musicman-esque olied finish. It features the Status designed (I think) swept back headstock which is smaller in the flesh than I thought it would be. I've attached a photo next to my Jag for comparison. It's equipped with a punchy sounding EMG pickup, a high mass bridge and lightweight Gotoh tuners. It weighs 3.9kg/8.6lb and is well balanced on the strap. It doesn't have a case but I can package well if postage is required.

Agreed. I'm not 100% sold on the ergonomic benefits of the design, I just think it looks cool! Lots of photos I've seen over emphasise the headstock but it's actually less imposing than you'd think in the flesh. Re the potential thumb rest, I suppose you could. I haven't felt the need to drift away fromy usual spot above the pickup to to be honest.

It did look a bit odd on the Ashdown site, probably due to flash photography. It's a lovely burled top but you can only really see it up close due to the trans black finish.
  6. Thanks, I'll pass the compliment on to Mark (singer) who was the brains behind it 👍🏻
  7. Another lockdown collaboration 🤠 Michelle by the Beatles

Haha, I've just seen this thread. I was ogling it for a while and eventually pressed the button. I've since had confirmation of the start date of (more!) building work on my house so lots of my basses are going up for sale, this included. If anyone is interested, let me know. For sale thread coming soon.
  9. Just to clarify, I'm open to trades as long as there's a fair bit of cash my way 👍🏻
  10. Thinking about it this is worth more than my first three cars put together 😁
  11. 2008 Fodera Monarch 4 bolt-on up for grabs. This is not a "Standard" model, it's a full on custom Fodera built back in a time before mass production techniques were implemented to increase production numbers. It is a phenomenal bass in every respect and is as much a piece of art as it is an instrument. Just look at it! 🤯 It has a mahogany body with a heavily figured flamed maple top with a matching angled headstock, a three piece maple neck with a dark east Indian rosewood fingerboard, custom Mike Pope 3 band preamp and classic EMG PJ pickups. It comes with the Fodera Teardrop case and hand tools. Note: Regarding the certificate of authenticity, Mike Bendy from Fodera informs me that they did not start issuing them until 2016, but they can issue one retrospectively if required. I have the original spec sheet digitally. Here's a link to a previous sale thread for this bass with some interesting info - https://www.doctorbass.net/en/c/?iddoc=1000171003 This is a reluctant sale but my money pit of a house has issued some further demands.. £3500 collected from Margate/mutual meet, or buyer to arrange the courier if required. I can package it securely.
  12. Fender Jazz JB62SS (Smart Size/Short Scale) up for grabs. This is essentially a Fender MIJ '62 RI that has been scaled down to 85% of the size of a standard Jazz, an awesome idea on Fender Japan's part! Despite it's smaller dimensions and 30" scale it maintains full size pickups and hardware. The build quality is as high as you'd expect from Fender Japan, and it sounds like a proper Jazz bass. It's in excellent condition and comes with the original Fender gig bag.
  13. Only the Bearded Lady left. £30 posted to your door 👍🏻
  14. Agreed, I wonder what the Fender custom shop would charge to create something as good as these? That white J looked amazing 👍🏻
  15. I removed the neck pickup cover today and made a notable discovery.. I sound nothing like Marcus Miller with it on or off. Damn.
  16. QSC K12.2 + QSC Tote bag. This is around 5 months old, has seen next to no use and has never left my house. As you'd expect it's in excellent condition. I've tested this in an FRFR capacity out of curiosity (with my bass plugged straight in, using the "bass amp" profile) and was blown away by its capability.. There's plenty of info on the forum about that if you're interested in leaning more. Collection from Margate or I can post if required. I have all the original packaging so it'll reach you safe and sound.
