Thank you. I've been very tempted by the Markbass Little Mark IV, as I fancied a change to be honest. After a random search though, I've managed to source a 2nd hand Ashdown RM EVO 500 ii, from one of the big online music retailers. It's due to be delivered on Tuesday, fingers crossed. The Peavey MiniMax is a good amp, but I think a change is in order. I had an Ashdown ABM600 chrome faced head once. It sounded really good, unfortunately it had a fault whereby it would hiss as the note decayed. The RM isn't an ABM but I think it'll fit in with what I'm playing now. What has struck me whilst searching, is how the level of choice and availability has dropped. Again, thank you.

The internal fuse looks blown. I've ordered some new ones, but I'm not hopeful that's the source of the problem. I think the fuse blew because there's a deeper problem.

My Peavey MiniMax head no longer works. I need a new amp, from an online retailer, to get it by midweek. Unfortunately, 2nd hand isn't an option. I've got a Fender Rumble 210 cab, just for reference. Just thought I'd ask for opinions on the following. Good, bad, core sound sort of thing. These are the heads that seem available at within my budget. TC Electronic BQ500 Peavey MiniMax Mkii 600 Laney Digibeth 500H Orange Little Bass Thing 500 Markbass Little Mark IV. Thank you in advance.

Well, the fan is incredibly quiet now. Heard a tiny click after I turned the amp on, and then no power. It's now a large paperweight.

The Aria please, thank you 😊

Our singer is saying that she's getting an electrical sensation when holding the microphone. Someone suggested that the phantom power might be on on the mixer. However, I can't remember seeing the phantom power light on on the mixer and the guitarist said he checked it was off. The sensation is all the time. She's tried a different mic, changed the cable, stood a a rubber floor mat, not stood on the mat. Still the same. The phantom power seemed the obvious culprit but apparently not (unless there's a fault in the desk). Any ideas? Ta.

I currently have a Sire V7 Jazz and a Squier VM Precision. When I first started I had a horrid cheap bit of chipboard with strings attached. I always wanted a Warwick Corvette $$ when I started. Still do really. Either that or a Red Aria thru neck SB, I still would definitely have one of those. My tastes haven't really changed, but neither have my finances that would enable me to purchase my tastes 🤔🙂

My mates and I wanted to start a band when we were at college. I was left with the choice of bass or drums. I had nowhere to put a drum kit, so bass it was. Bass was the first instrument I'd ever picked up and to this day I cannot play guitar. That's not, I can play a bit but not good enough to play in a band, I literally cannot play and have never played guitar. So bass it was and still is. I did have a long break from my early 20s to my mid 30s where I didn't play at all. I'm glad I got back into it.

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

810 cabs used on their side. NO! Single cut bodies -
It wasn't a band as such as there was no singer and it never got out of the practice room. The guitarist especially was really unpleasant. We auditioned a singer to do originals. Great voice. After she left at the end of the audition the guitarist and drummer slagged her off for being "clueless" in the attempt she made. I pointed out she wasn't a mind reader as they'd not given any guidance as to what they wanted. A few weeks later I was told that the project was on hold as the guitarist had too many family commitments. The dopey pair forgot about social media though. I found out I'd been replaced a few days later on Facebook. I contacted the guitarist and had my longest swear rant at him. Another band, the singer told us she was leaving after our first gig as she was moving away. We had possibly 2 more gigs before she left which she would do. Next gig, a set list is produced and it's minimal. I said I was concerned there wasn't enough material on it. Was told we'd pad it out with tuning up and talking. I said I thought that was cr@p. All hell broke loose, and ended with me telling them to sod off and I wasn't doing the gig.

As anyone who owns one of these amps knows, they sound great, have all the gubbins you need on them, are loud BUT so is the fan. It's a bit like having your own aircon unit soundwise. When you're playing it's not an issue, I wouldn't sell it just because of the fan noier but, we'll you know.🙂 Has anyone sourced a quiter replacement fan? From what I've researched it's tricky if not impossible.

We had a gig in a tiny tiny pub. I'd gigged there before. It's a pain unloading as the pub is in a really narrow street, not much wider than a car itself and the set up area is compact 🙂. Despite me warning the rest of the pub's quirky location and size, or lack of, they were still a little gobsmacked when they saw the reality 🤣🤣 We had a fun gig, lovely pub, lovely crowd (I say crowd in its loosest term considering aforementioned size), we played well and will get asked back. Result.

Sadness and shock. Although frail I don't think anyone would have thought that Ozzy was going to pass away so soon after the Back to the Beginning concert. He was part of a band that changed music and will always be amongst a small group of musicians who are legends.

It's worrying that no one wants to buy a profitable solvent business.

Year started playing: 1990 (sold my gear in 1997 and had a 12 year sabbatical started again in 2009) Number of basses: 2 (most was 3) Music theory: 2 Technique: 4 Groove: 7 I'm not very good to be fair.

What a fantastic set up that must have been... especially if you were in demolition of buildings. I very much regret getting rid of my 1212L. Absolute beast of a cab.

I owned a Hohner B2A that was fretless. I think it had been defretted. It was OK. The pickups were really good. Very easy to play. I didn't indulge in too much sliding. But overall, it was a good bass. I sold it, and a Peavey Basic 60 combo for stupid cheap money. But that was over 30 years ago and everyone wanted more retro gear that fitted the Britpop fad.

I was 12. I saw a few sets on the TV, but wasn't particularly interested. There seems to be a lot of self congratulatory back slapping from those involved, very little about whether it achieved its aim or achieved anything.

I've watched a few clips on YouTube. I watched the Tool set. The sound wasn't great, at times the vocals were a bit buried. But then it's a support slot. Otherwise, a good set. I could listen to Danny Carey drum all day. I watched various clips of Sabbath, and it sounded great. Ozzy, considering his health issues sounded fine. Iommi, Butler and Ward... power house. I'd also been watching Geezer Butler talking about his rig for the show. What a decent guy he is. I've never listened to Black Sabbath much, but I would have rather gone to their farewell than the other event on that night. They created a genre, they innovated and this was their farewell.

This may sound odd, but I've never been so upset to lose a friend I've never met in person. And she was a friend. Full of fun, mischief but also as @Clarky said, so very positive. Pete and Terri were a fantastic couple. Their online banter between each other, on here, and FB has had me in stitches. And if you were going through a rough patch, even if she wasn't feeling her best, she'd make a point of sending a lovely message. I'll miss her. You're in our thoughts @Tinman. Take care Pete. RIP Terri

If you 'try' something in a shop the item is still on the retailer's premises. I'm not aware of many instances where a physical shop would allow someone to take the item home, without paying for it, to sort of test it out.

Remastered doesn't mean its any better

The remixed versions of the early ZZ Top albums were atrocious. The added reverb sucked all the life out of the songs. -
I did see the Lewis Capaldi set. I don't like or dislike his material, but he always seems a decent sort. I saw it the last time he played Glastonbury, when he had problems. Excellent that he's back and great to see the crowd get behind him. Being a bit soppy, it was rather lovely all said.

He did some stuff with Robert Cray I think
