  1. This is the bass I bought from Tony Gaskell for the princely sum of £80. After I sold the Jaguar to Len on here I realised I sort of missed a short scale particularly to have something in the office to noddle on. Anyway the Bronco as you can see has had a couple of mods. The bridge and the pickup are an improvement over the originals but the tuners are pretty dire so I'll need to change those or it will drive me nuts. I may also try to find a black pickguard and some different pots. Despite the tuners tony had the bass set up beautifully and it plays wonderfully well. He didn't do the mods btw he bought it off another guy who had done those and stuck the Fender logo on it. The reason Tony bought it was because he is still gigging around Liverpool and he had found his P bass too heavy in recent years. He is a remarkable man, started his first skiffle group in his final year at school in 1959 and his mum bought him his first proper bass in 1960. That's a picture of him with his first P bass in his band Johnny Templer and the Hi-Cats. They supported the Beatles many times in the early sixties and it was a pleasure and an honour to sit and chat to him about his career in music - he also let me play some of his basses! He is in his eighties now and still enjoys playing gigs and getting paid for it, there is hope for us all!
  2. I’m interested to see that pickup in your Bronco. I just bought one from a great old chap from Liverpool who had installed one of these (I think) in it. I’m away tonight but will send a photo tomorrow 👍
  3. Any thoughts from anyone? I’m thinking of people located in the East Midlands or Yorkshire.
  4. I think the large majority of the weight saving is from the body being made from paulownia/empress wood and at the other end of the neck the hipshot ultralight tuners probably save 1/2 pound just on their own. It also has a Gotoh bridge and Entwistle pickups so all the components are really good quality.
  5. I'm sure we must leave some of our musical DNA or qi on every instrument we play. That's why I like buying off bass chat in the hope I'm buying that along with the instrument. But I know what you mean, I pity anyone buying anything off me
  6. I just bought this little Ashdown Studio 15 combo of a guy who I know well and is moving abroad. He only gigged it three times so it is mint. I've just plugged it in and have to say I'm very impressed by it. It's incredibly light - I went and dug out my old Rumble 25 practice amp from under the stairs and this thing feels about half the weight! Does anyone have any experience of gigging with the Studio 15?
  7. The 7lb jazz bitsa bass which has I believe has had a number of bass chatters as its custodian has me as its latest one. I bought it yesterday of Chris (cdog) in Leeds. I really like it, light as a feather (compared to my last jazz bass) and plays wonderfully - probably due to being played in extremely well by the excellent bass players who have had it before me!
  8. I have just bought this Jazz Bitsa from Chris. Great bloke to deal with. Good communication and hassle free sale. Nice natter about basses and bass playing when I showed up today to collect it. Thanks Chris 👍
  9. Can anyone recommend a good luthier who does a good job on repairing a gouge on the bass body. See photos.
  10. Should have put this up earlier. Sold a Markbass cab to Paul last Sunday. Very smooth transaction, great to deal with and a top bloke.
  11. Great to meet you Paul. Easy transaction with a top bloke. Hope you enjoy the cab! All the best Ian
  12. Beautiful excellent condition Zoot Funkmeister 32 (asking a bit less than what I paid for it) Custom build 32” scale precision bass Roasted maple neck and fretboard Hausell precision pickup. Lightweight hipshot tuners. Drop D Xtender. Lightweight at just under 3.4kg Can’t get on with anything accept jazz necks so the only trades of interest would be a EBMM Sterling and maybe a G&L SB-2. Must be light weight though i.e. under 4kg if possible.
  13. I agree with all of that mybass. I used it for a few rehearsals last winter with a very loud drummer in a project that didn't work out and the power of what I thought was a fairly light little rig meant I had to keep turning it down I don't envisage needing it for the next year or two though.
  14. I agree! I got the cab from a great guy in Harrogate so don't think it was yours unless you sold it to him? At the minute I'm only playing occasionally with an acoustic group so this is total overkill. I can take along a Fender Rumble 100 to that and it still feels loud enough.
  15. Very nice rig for sale - £650 Markbass Little Mark IV (2021 date). Comes with Markbass case for the head. 500w at 4 ohm and 300w at 8 ohm load. Features the revised 4-band EQ. Bi-band limiter. 3 way switch for Flat, scooped, or foot switch setting. Old school filter (my favourite feature). Is in excellent condition, very lightly used. Markbass New York Ninja cab - 2x12 - 800w. Fantastic, powerful and light cab (18.5kg). Excellent condition. Comes with a Roqsolid cover.
