1. They are good value and great quality.

    I think we're done here? :)

Actually, in today's market, I don't think Jap Fender guitars are necessarily always all that great value, some of the prices being asked for them exceed the cost of USA built ones and a good guitar is a good guitar, regardless of where it's made!

  2. Hi all,

Bought this earlier in the week, but simply cannot make the transition between the necks on this and my Jazz - have now got a Fretless Jazz which will use as my backup (once back from the repairer!)

The following is stolen without permission from OldGit's writeup. I've done nothing to the Bass beyond a quick clean, some Fast Fret and played it a bit!

This is an SX/Noname '62 Sunburst / Tortoise / Rosewood Precision copy

The cavity has been fully lined with copper. The scratchplate has been foil backed. It's eerily quiet for a P bass

The basswood (I assume) body is unmarked and has a fine sunburst and deep gloss finish.

Pickup is a Wizard Thumper with CTS Pots, Switchcraft Jack and Sprague capacitor. All wiring is in vintage cloth covered wire and the pot/capacitor values were decided upon after a chat with Andy at Wizard pickups.

The bridge has been replaced with a Wilkinson Vintage bridge with Brass Saddles. New string tree and Fecker transfer, (lacquered over) it has a really nice neck, plays and sounds just great, fools the unknowing and gives the knowledgeable a laugh.

It has Glowdotz side markers ('cos I just can't see those tiddly things Fender and SX use ) They are white but will glow in the dark if you shine a light on them first

It's got new Trace Elliot light gauge strings with lovely green cotton windings.

    Now on ebay.

Collection is fine too but would have to be this weekends only at the moment. Likewise, postage would be done on a weekend only

Pictures, for they speak a thousand words:

    Cheers,
    James

  3. I make no claims to have tried every string in the book, but I find Elites (Stainless Steel) are just fantastic for me. Yes, you might get 1-2 gigs extra out of a set of Elixirs, but that doesn't justify the huge jump in costs.

Oh and a dab of Fast Fret as and when they need it.

    Cheers,
    James

  4. This sort of stuff irritates me.

If I were selling a Metro but didn't know much about cars, would I list it as a Ferrari? No I wouldn't. Therefore people should be more careful with their listings as it is a little naughty to misrepresent an item regardless of whether you 'know better' or not.

  5. BASS ONE:

I have the following for sale - a Cort GB44 (active) - Collection Welcome:

This is a STUNNING bass with massive sustain and lots of power, it has a Stingray-like tone and really is seriously impressive!

Sensible offers may well be laughed at, or taken seriously. YOU decide!

    UPDATE: Now on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CORT-ELECTRIC-BASS-G...id=p3286.c0.m14
