4. Any recomendations or opinions? 5 string wise preferably chris
5. I learned how to play on a 5 string so i play 5 string but 4 string is still the original and that's just how it goes! if you played a string attached to a stick inside of a bucket i'd say you were oldschool

7.
Is Josh your guitarist? Pretty sure i slept on his sofa when we were touring with Kickback UK + Stand out riot. Would love to come to these gigs but im in Kent... Might bump in to you soon though, think we're doing a mini scotland tour in October. I'm in Tyrannosaurus Alan btw.
yeah dude! he's my older brother aswell haha the sentiment was nice! we should be kicking about aswell so you may do! we should be in England soon aswell small world on this basschat eh haha
8. Anybody have any opinions on Randall Bass Amps I might be getting one and I was just wanting to hear some thoughts from the bass boys Chris
9. Anybody know? I heard there might be one in Edinburgh in November but i'm not sure. Chris
10. paying 300 quid for a drummer to do the same i feel your pain dude. luckily my guitarist is my brother and if worst comes to worst i can just hit him hhaha (joking of course?) chris
11. I tend to play through a EBS HD350 head and I freakin love it. Oh how I long for a deal with EBS! Until then i'll just keep dreaming! Anybody know how I feel?
12. i don't know what you've been reading or who you've been listening to, but thats nonsense bro! doesn't matter what length your strap is at for picking, you can either do it or you can't. Look at many of the emo/screamo/hardcore bands... a vast amount of the bassist wear their basses up high and use picks. it can be just as much for aesthetic reasons as it can be for practical reasons
13. haha i've found that most of the people victor works with do the short strap thing. It makes it easier to play certain styles. it's like different golf clubs, you use different clubs for different terrain ya know if you'd like to continue this conversation let's do it off the introductions page! chris
14. My name's Chris Barron and I play in a Scottish based Ska/Punk band called The Hostiles. We have a tour coming up with a English Ska band called Imperial Leisure It's only a three dayer (our drummer is recovering from slicing a tendon in his right hand, he took out his pointer finger ) but it should be an awesome weekend and i'd love to see some Basschatters there! the dates are: 17 Sep 2009 20:00 Capitol w / Imperial Leisure Glasgow, Scotland 18 Sep 2009 20:00 Bannermans w / Imperial Leisure Edinburgh, Scotland 19 Sep 2009 20:00 Moorings Bar w / Imperial Leisure Aberdeen, Scotland 3 Cosy venues with hopefully a nice crowd joining us! If you like live music and a bit of Ska then these gigs could be your cup of tea You can check out the bands at The Hostiles -www.myspacec.om/hostileska or on youtube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=to811kCQlHw Imperial Leisure- www.myspace.com/imperialleisure we're probably gunna be partying afterwords aswell, so the more the marrier! See you there! Chris
15. that will make it easier to learn aswell! haha:D if you like RBF, then you might like my band we are called The Hostiles i use allot of B string in our music so that might be of use to you i think you might enjoy us www.myspace.com/hostileska chris
16. Any of the Reel Big Fish songs. Technical, fast and rythmatic. The tuning is BEADG for all the songs. They'll make you smile allot aswell haha Chris
17. I'm having some trouble uploading pictures at the moment because i'm using a phone dongle thingy mujig and it's not looking good. So i'll have some pics up as soon as possible! Chris
18. Heres some snaps of the body woods: When I first caught a glimpse of that Birdseye Maple I knew it was for me! I think it really gives it that custom feel because as you said, it's such an unusual thing to see instrument wise. I couldn't agree more haha. It all just looks like wood aswell, then it's like Alan waves a magical wand and presto it's a beautiful wood! I decided to go for the Butternut body (White Walnut) first of all because I like the colour and the grain it has and second of all because I am keeping to a colour coordination of purple and beige/white. It's not cheap but it's not too expensive which is good because it's probably going to get belt rotted away (I hope not tho :|) Nice body shape. How many strings you going for?
19. check back within the next hour or so and i'll get some pictures for you
20. I've got a real oldschool Hohner Jazz Bass but I don't actually know anything about it It's got a plate saying Hohner Professional C103523 on the back and a maple neck with a maple fretboard. Anybody able to shine any light on this subject for me? It sounds beautiful aswell if that helps haha Chris
21. I've chosen a Recurve aswell worth it indeed! Quilt/Birdseye maple top with a Purpleheart accent and a Butternut body. 5 piece Maple/Purpleheart neckwith an Acrylic Impregnated Purpleheart finger board. ACG EQ01 with SB in bridge and a RFB in the neck. with a bolt on neck and a low battery indicator, standard string spacing, and a 16" neck radius. If you're planning on getting a custom bass in the U.K then I would deffo give Alan a shout. He'll tell you everything within his knowledge that he can and he's got patience beyond patience when it comes to helping/letting you choose what you want. His workshop is just covered with basses and woods (organised of course) which is a very nice vibe when you're on a mission for a new bass. the sound quality and playability is spot on for any kind of sound that you want to have due to his phenominal EQ system and the amazing build all around. It becomes a machine of brassdestruction when you're with a drummer aswell, it's always nice to be heard ya know haha
22. I'm getting a new ACG Custom early next year and now the waiting is starting get to me!! Now I just need to get a sweet amp to play it through! Also, never buy a Crate BT100 if you want to have a amp that works without having to fix it more than once and won't be rendered useless after a few years... Chris
