    "Oom Bop"?

That wasn't The Beach Boys in the 60's, that was the Hanson Brothers in the 90's!

Abe Laboriel on bass for that recording, little known fact.

  2. They’re listing them on their website for £3195….so they’re gonna need to be hand built IMO. It mentions that they are ‘USA Master Series’, but stops short of saying where they’re built.

Edit: Had to dig, but elsewhere on the site it states that “The Master Series lineup is designed and crafted in Southern California”.

  3. I’m looking for my first ever Grey Stache, hopefully to try and buy it back. It’s an early Kid Paint over a tall yellow enclosure. I've learned that it was sold by a member here via eBay, so could conceivably be anywhere in the world 😅

Drop me a PM if you have it, even if you’re not looking to sell.

    Cheers

  4. It did get me thinking about paying for an email service….maybe I’ll start/search for a thread on it 🙂

I’ve also had my hotmail since the early 2000’s, so it’s a shame, but hey, can’t be missing out on stuff just because it’s a free service.

  5. They've just sent me all the photos I need over Instagram, so that's helpful! Got me worried about what other emails I might not be receiving though haha. Hopefully not an issue.

    Cheers all.

I've just bought a Bass from them and quickly received a series of emails (order received, order complete, feedback request) to my Hotmail account, no problem (but they do automatically go to Junk mail until marked as 'not Junk'). And the Bass I bought pretty much immediately then changed status on their website from 'available' to 'preorder now'. I also phoned up earlier and got a quick answer and helpful response.

For sure, they're quick enough in Instagram....just not sure how to get photos from them now haha.
I wonder if the ordering emails are again from a different system to what @Woodinblackmentioned?!

I get the marketing emails on the sunday from them. Don't seem to be as quick with the updates to the effects pedal I sent back to them a few months ago to fix.

Yeah same, looks like they come from a different email system though?! So seemingly not effected by this certificate issue mentioned above.

If bass direct have a domain name associated email host and they haven't recently updated their security certificates, then a lot of free emails services like Gmail etc. will be blocking what they send, as part of their attempted clamp-down on spam. If Bass Direct's email host is any good they will eventually be doing this for them, but if they are with someone popular it may take a couple of weeks to implement. Bass Direct could do it themselves (it's fairly easy so long as they follow the instructions to the letter, I've had to do it recently for an email service I administer), but until enough people complain I suspect it won't be high on their list of priorities.

Well that's frustrating! Obviously I could call, but I've requested some specific photos to be sent and they won't send them on Instagram for some reason.

    Thanks for the info!

  9. Has anyone ever had any issues with emails from BD not arriving? Either to Gmail or Hotmail (Outlook)?
They seemingly receive mine, bit responses not arriving to either account, very strange!

  10. I needed a box to ship a bass and Mick was gratuitous enough to furnish me with one, along with some additional packaging.

Thanks very much Mick, always a pleasure!

  11. Great story and wonderful bass. We must have ordered at fairly similar times (actually probably me a little earlier, Nov 2019 I think), mine came in July of 2020, albeit a more standard build (P4 Oly White).

Enjoy it! May you age it well haha

Mute is a cool idea, but if at the end ... if other pedals are active, such as octave/chorus/OD, can the tuner still get a good lock on the tuning note?

Well absolutely, it’s certainly a consideration, depends on the player! Pros and Cons for sure!

  13. I echo what has already been broadly mentioned, which is that the correct layout is that which sounds best to you! Which opens up the way for a lot of experimentation, but that really is where you'll get the best long-term results.

That said, for what it's worth, here would be my personal layout:

Overddrive pedal -> Octaver pedal -> Chorus pedal -> Harley Benton preamp + compressor -> Tuner pedal

Really, it doesn't matter too much where the tuner is, but if it's at the very end of the chain, it also acts as a very effective mute. If it's at the start of the chain and you leave loads of effects on while you tune, yes your bass signal is muted, but you could still have effected pedal noise going to your amp.

New 12x8’’ board from Bastow Pedalboards. Very nice sturdy build with good clearance underneath. Running the stomp on the CAPO’s post loop. Doom2 and Octabvre are in the Stomp’s FX loop. My tone toys from clean, gritty and synthy stuff :D

are the power supply outlets on the Noble isolated?

As someone who gigs my Noble a LOT, and am running 6 other pedals from the power supply, I noticed very little if any noise.
That said, I'm running 5 low-draw analogue pedals and a digital tuner, so it's not a complicated setup.
