1. [s]Hey guys I've decided to put my Gallien Kreuger 700RB mk 2 head up for sale. When I originally bought this, I was looking to try and grit up my tone and get that Geddy Lee/Eddie Jackson/James LoMenzo style of driven tone but after doing a few gigs with it, I've realised it's not the one for me. I love it for the clean tone but I need something a lot more gritty which is why I've decided to go for a Sansamp RPM pre amp or Ampeg SVT Pro 3. Go for what I wanted in the first place (especially as I am getting a nice tax re-bate next month so some of that can go towards whatever I choose). Price wise, i'm looking for £275 plus postage (or cash on collection is welcome. I'll even make you a cuppa tea/coffee whilst you try out the amp. I'm based between Milton Keynes and Luton). Either that or if someone wants to do a straight swap for a Sansamp RPM, i'll do that. Other trades I'll look at is an Ampeg SVT Pro 3 with cash from me to make up the difference. I'll post some pictures later but as for condition, the front, top and sides are absolutely fine but on the back corners, there's a bit of damage where it was knocked in transit. I do have a photo of this: It doesn't affect the amp in any way at all but the price is set as it is to reflect the damage. I had the amp looked over by the guys at a music shop in Bedford just to make sure there was nothing wrong with it and they said it was all absolutely fine. End of the day, once this amp is in a rack case or whatever, you won't see it. I've used it for about 10 gigs now and it's never let me down once. Not that I expected it to haha. Anyway, I'm sure you're all familiar with the Gallien Krueger 700rb II? Just in case you're not, here's the spiel from their website about it: Features[/s]

[s]Extremely high-current power supply[/s]
[s]High-current power amp circuitry[/s]
[s]480W to woofer[/s]
[s]50W to horn[/s]
[s]Electronic crossover for seamless 2-way sound[/s]
[s]4 bass-specific bands of active EQ[/s]
[s]5/4 string voicing filters[/s]
[s]Ultra low-noise input section >90dB S/N[/s]
[s]Clip LED[/s]
[s]10dB pad[/s]
[s]Mute switch with LED[/s]
[s]Output Section:[/s]
[s]Boost[/s]
[s]Tweeter Level with Hi-Cut Switch[/s]
[s]Woofer Level with Crossover Switch[/s]
[s]Direct Out:[/s]
[s]XLR[/s]
[s]Ground lift[/s]
[s]Pre/Post Switch[/s]
[s]Level control[/s]
[s]Patching: Send, return, and tuner out[/s]
[s]2 - 1/4" and 2 biamp connect[/s]
Sold via facebook, thanks anyway!
 2. I was speaking to an american guitar shop today about the Fender Geddy Lee bass and he said to me that the reason that they're all made in Mexico is because the Japan plant has been closed down. Personally, this really annoys me as I was looking to buy a Fender Geddy Lee bass towards the end of this year and wanted it to be brand new but I don't want it to be a mexican made one because of all the horror stories I've heard about poor finish work, poor electrics etc. etc. Plus a japanese one would go nicely with my japanese made Steve Harris signature bass too. I don't want one second hand because I don't want it to be damaged in any way at all. I'd buy a second hand Jap one if I knew it was going to be in perfect condition with no dings or scratches.
 3. I had a drive plus Ashdown pedal which had basically stopped working due to a broken pot and broken VU meter. I emailed Guy Morel about it and he just asked me to send the pedal in the post to him (recorded obviously) so he could take a look at it. 5 days later, I had my pedal back with a new pot and new VU meter including a gorgeous blue glowing bulb. He didn't charge me anything for it either! Can't speak highly enough of Ashdown. always have loved their amps since I started playing bass.
 4. I really like these for some reason. Only thing I don't really like is the woofer pick up. I'd have to stick a DiMarzio Model One in there and a Seymour Duncan STK-J1 in the bridge with a Badass II bridge or a jazz style bridge cover just to make up for what looks to me like an empty back end on the bass. Also, the fact it's one of the Squier VM series means it's going to be a seriously well built bass
 5. Hey guys I need some help with some wiring for a project I'm going to delve in to over the next few months. Basically it's going to be a combination of a lot of my favourite bits of basses I've played over the years or seen as well. Anyway, I decided the pick up configuration for it is going to be a Sidewinder pick up (Dimarzio Model One to be precise) in the neck position (this was inspired by Cliff Burton and Billy Sheehan but I'm tilting more towards Billy Sheehan for the use of it), a standard Precision Bass pick up in the usual spot then between that and the bridge, another P Bass pick up but reversed (so it will look like a set of "metal horns". Inspiration for this was taken from the BC Rich basses I've used and loved since becoming a bassist as well as James LoMenzo's awesome Yamaha bass) but I want the controls to be Volume (Neck pickup) Volume (Both P pick ups) and Blend (for blending the 2 together. I know I could just use the volume pots but I want a blend pot). Now here's where it gets weird because I also want to run the neck pick up (the model one) off to a separate tone pot (with no volume pot in this circuit) then off to a second out put so I can choose to use that a woofer pick up like Billy Sheehan does if needs be but also have the tone control there for if I want to have it running full tone through a separate amp. Basically, it would be: Neck pick up --> Volume pot 1 --> Blend pot --> Output 1 P Pick ups --> Volume pot 2 --------/ Neck pick up --> Tone control --> Output 2 I know this would require a lot of wiring and a lot of messing about but hey, it's a project bass and this is how I want to do it. It's not going to be an expensive instrument, it's just one I want to use for messing about with. If anyone can help me with a wiring diagram (simplified for me 'cos I'm a total idiot) then I'd really appreciate it! Thanks Stevie
 6. Gah, I want this so badly but can't afford or warrant buying it. Good luck with the sale though dude
 7. Hey guys Cheers for all your advise and replies. In answer to the people asking, it's a mains powered wah pedal, not a standard 9v powered one like the Dunlop wahs or usual pedals so yeah, it probably would need an internal transformer psu swap if anything. It sounds like it could be a dangerous and risky job so if I was to ever get the pedal, I would probably do what people are saying and get an external step up transformer like the one Bartelby recommended. Thing is, I want that exact pedal because it's the one Cliff Burton used and he's a big influence of mine as well as the fact I love that biting tone he got when using the Big Muff pedal and the Morley Power Boost Wah. I've tried the usual Jim Dunlop Bass wah but it just doesn't cut it like the Morley does and to be honest, I'm growing less fond of JD pedals by the moment. The only pedal by them I do like is the MXR Dynacomp but I'd never use it. I'll have to see what happens over the next few months but thanks anyway guys!
 8. Don't worry about switching everything back, just get some tin foil and stick it to the underside of the pick guard where the controls go so it acts as an earthing conductor between the 2 pots or just connect a wire between the casings of the 2 pots. I have had the same problem in the past but that sorted it for me. Hope this helps dude!

 10. I bought Chris's EHX Bass Big Muff and it's perfect! Still not sure on him after the dodgy multi coloured wrapping though Nah, sound guy to deal with and it couldn't of gone any better. Packaged very securely and arrived in mint condition. Thanks Chris! Hope to deal with you soon!
 11. Hey guys I've been thinking of buying a Morley Tel Rey Power Wah Boost pedal which is the same one Cliff Burton used but the only problem is, they only seem to be available from the US as it's an old unit (last produced 1983 I believe?) and obviously that means it runs on 110v power supply but ours is 240v here so I'm worried that if I just change the plug, it would blow it up. So, here's what I'm wondering, is there a way I can change it to a 240v transformer or am I best leaving it alone and doing something else with it? Cheers Stevie
 12. Only really after a set of EMG 40P5 and 40DC pick ups, an Aguilar OBP-3 pre amp and a Hipshot GB-7 xtender to go on my Tobias. Apart from that, I'm mainly after the cash to fund these items. Cheers

 14. Hey guys [s]Only putting this up as a possible feeler to maybe fund the purchase of the pre amp and pick ups I want for my Tobias or to possibly go towards a 5/6 string Tobias. Either way, it's the only bass I have in my main 4 that isn't sentimental to me.[/s] Seen something I want so this is the one I've decided to definitely part with. Sorry Jeff! (Jeff the Jazz bass as in Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince haha) Anyway, here it is, a Squier Vintage Modified '77 Jazz Bass purchased last June (on the 28th to be exact so it's coming up to a year) which I bought to kill of a bit of my Fender Geddy Lee G.A.S. (which returned with vengeance after seeing Rush live and seeing/hearing the Municipal Waste bassist's tone on record/live). Since I bought it, I have made a few "subtle" modifications to the bass, They are as follows: - changed the pickguard for a blue pearloid one (also have a white pearloid one which I'll throw in with it) - copper shielded both pick up and control cavities (there is no hissing or humming from this bass any more) - changed the knobs to the same ones as on the Fender Geddy Lee bass (black skirted ones with the one white pointer) - fitted a Graphtech black tusq top nut whch has greatly improved tuning and tuning stability - swapped the neck with Dave (Nibody)'s Squier Vintage Modified 60's Jazz Bass so mine now has the black blocks and binding (contrary to popular belief, they ARE NOT painted on) - fitted a black thumb rest above the E string (between neck pick up and neck) - changed the neck plate for a blank chrome one (squier one will be included if I can find it again) - fitted an official Fender "F" stamped chrome bridge ashtray and chrome pick up cover The Duncan Designed pick ups in it sound really good. I was so surprised by them when I got it. I was going to replace them but they sounded perfectly good enough to me so I left them in there. The tuning pegs whilst generic are decent. They keep the bass in tune properly and I've never had any issues with them what so ever. Bad sides to this bass: There are some VERY light scratches to the back off the bass from when it's been against my belt buckle but it's nothing serious and I could probably buff it out if I got the time to do it. Apart from that, there's nothing wrong with it. It does have strap locks fitted to it but I will be removing those and putting the original ones back on there as I will use them with what ever bass I buy/build next. Plus, all my straps have the strap locks fitted so I'd rather keep it that way. [s]Price wise I'd be looking at somewhere around £250. Postage would be around £15 but cash on collection is welcome and you're more than welcome to plug it in and give it a whirl on my rig to see if you like it. I'll even throw in a cuppa tea or coffee if you do I'm based somewhere in between Luton, Bedford and Milton Keynes just off the M1 junction 12.[/s] SOLD All I have is this picture and video at the moment Cheers Stevie
 15. Btw, on the bits where the chunks were missing, did you add some filler to it or something to smooth it out with? I need to know if you ever sell this 'cos I would love it back sometime
