My new bass ... 86 MIJ Fender Jazz 70s RI
StevieD_FenderP2009 replied to RichValentine's topic in Gear Gallery
Oh my god, Rich, that is absolutely stunning! And what a steal at £600! I love the white blocks and binding on the neck with the maple board. The black plate on the sunburst body really works well too. Nicely done sir. And welcome back to the forum Stevie -
Cheers dude, i'l ltry that when it arrives. I've asked the seller for a list of things he's done to it to see if he's tried any repair work. Hopefully he hasn't so I can just start from square one. To be honest, if i spend £20 getting it repaired, i'm still happy because I was looking at £50 for one anyways.

New Squier Transformation Project Now 100% Completed
StevieD_FenderP2009 replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Bass Guitars
GW, I'm being totally honest here, if I hadn't of followed this diary and just gone to the last pics, I would of assumed it was a real Fender. I love what you've done to it, it looks absolutely gorgeous! I have a question for you, would you be able to do the same to the maple neck of my P bass as what you've done to this one if I was to send you it? And how much would you charge if you can? I can supply the Fender logo as well Would be really cool if you could as you've done a perfect job on it -
Hi For sale i have an official Rickenbacker chrome neck pick up surround with fixing plate (bottom plate?) I was going to use it on a Rickenbacker copy bass I was going to buy but never got round to it. Also had a bridge which I sold on here to Mr Foxen a while back. I paid £30 for the surround, it's not been used and it's stayed in the plastic sleeve it came it. £20 posted and i can't take any less Stevie (pic to follow later on)

String Through P Bass For Sixty Quid
StevieD_FenderP2009 replied to neepheid's topic in Bass Guitars
I got a P Bass copy off eBay for a tenner a couple of years back. Originally it has Richwood on the headstock. 1 piece maple neck with vintage tint Lake placid blue sparkle finish White pickguard Fender style reversed clover leaf tuners Alder body Can anyone guess what I did to it yet? Oh yes... Stainless steel pickguard (chrome to expensive) Seymour Duncan SPB-3 pickups Leo Quan Badass II bridge Fender headstock logo F stamped neck plate Took all my upgrades off of it about a year later and sold it for £60. I know the bass was worth so much more than that though. Still, did me a turn perfectly and I hope the new owner got as much enjoyment from it as me. Does anyone seriously think these may be worth the plunge? I mean, the alder body (if thats what it actually is) is exactly what I want in the P Basses I use so I may invest in one. and it's for charity... -
Mwahaha, my turn... My main gigging bass: Terry (2010 Precision Bass built by me) Aptly named Terry because of Terry's Chocolate Orange and the fact the bass is seriously orange haha. The all black hardware really does look the dogs danglers on this. So here it is (Ps, the chrome pick up cover will be getting replaced by a black one as soon as I have money). This is in no way a real Fender but it's got an alder body, 1 piece maple 20 fret neck, graphtech top nut, black tuners, black bridge, black pickguard, Seymour Duncan SPB-1 pick ups, orange finish with black outline, black schaller strap buttons, F stamped neck plate and Fender CTS electrics. It's been a labour of love over the last 2 years and I was so happy to finally finish the bass. Only things that will be getting changed on it are a Leo Quan Badass II black bridge to replace the current one and a black pick up cover to replace the current chrome one [attachment=69832:IMG_0144.JPG] The newest addition: Frank (1987 Fender Precision Bass) He was named Frank because when it arrived, it had a rosewood neck and black pickguard which reminded me of Frank Bello's (Anthrax bass player) old Fender Precision Bass. Just to let you all know, the neck in this picture is a temporary neck that I borrowed from Terry to see how it sounded. The results? F#@%ing amazing! The reason for the temp neck was the truss rod in the original neck is snapped so I had to take it off and replace the neck as it's far to expensive to fix the truss rod. This is an original 1987 Fender Precision Bass as well just so you all know. I will hopefully have a new neck coming at the end of the month for it. Also, I'm getting it re-sprayed to sort out the dents and chips. When it's done it'll have a black or black/white checkerboard finish, standard bridge with chrome cover, chrome pickguard with chrome pick up cover, Fender reverse tuning pegs (original tuners that came on the bass), Seymour Duncan SPB-1 pick ups, 1 piece maple 20 fret neck with vintage tint (official Fender neck) and chrome schaller strap buttons [attachment=69831:164614_1...993139_n.jpg] And finally, my pride and joy: Steve! (2010 Fender Steve Harris signature Precision Bass) Named Steve why? Because it's the Fender Steve Harris signature Precision Bass. No other name would suit it haha. This bass astounds me, last time I played it was back in July '10 after a band practise with my old band. I cleaned the bass thoroughly then put it in the case and locked it away under my bed and I hadn't opened the case in all that time until 2 days ago when I decided to show one of my mates it. Guess what... Still in perfect tuning and glistening as the light beemed off the sparkly blue finish and chrome pickguard. BTW, I didn't take it out of the case, I just showed my mate then locked the case again. Seems silly to do that but I don't want any damage done to this as I worked so hard to get it. I used it for 2 gigs, 2 band practises and probably an hour jamming on it at home. [attachment=69830:31881_46...834394_n.jpg] Please excuse the first photo, I used my iPhone for the photo. Never a good idea =/

Hmm, if it doesn't sound good as a bass, maybe i could use it for a shelf... -
Who is that rather luscious lady with the tasty rack setup?

I'd really like it if it didnt have the pickguard on it. they should of left that off. Better headstock than the original '51 P too

Ernie Ball Musicman Gamechanger now a reality
StevieD_FenderP2009 replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
This is why I'm sticking to my Fender P Basses, 1 volume and 1 tone. Nothing complicated about that and I can get a big range of tones from my P's from flat to really bright. This new "Gamechanger" thing from Ernie Ball seems far to complicated and a waste of time. If you don't like your guitars tone, get new pick ups/pre amp (if you're that way inclined) or change your EQ or get a new amp or throw in some pedals. Simple! -
Was on the spector site earlier on and happened to come (in more ways than one) over this piece of pure filth! [attachment=69080:NS_5XL_BEM_Front.png] That above is a Spector NS 5XL BEM. Body Finish: trans peacock blue Fretboard: Birsdeye maple Inlays: Abablone crowns Neck construction: 3-piece maple, graphite reinforced Neck type: neck-thru Frets: 24 fret Body construction: solid AAAA maple Hardware Colour: gold (black optional and my preference) Bridge: Spector USA soild brass locking bridge Bridge hex size: 2mm Tuners: gotoh GB7 Strap buttons: schaller straplocks Electronics Tone circuit: Spector 18-volt USA tone circuit Curcuit: 18-volt cctive Bridge pickup: EMG 40DC Neck pickups: EMG 40DC Pickup type: active If money were no object I'd be straight on the phone to Spector about buying one of these, but considering the price tag is close to £6500, I don't think I'll be buying it any time soon. Still, worth discussing so go...!

WOW!! 63 red sparkle custom colour P bass!
StevieD_FenderP2009 replied to wesfinn's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It's the same method as what they used to do the Fender Steve Harris signature model. metal flake over the base colour. All this thing needs is a mirrored pickguard and maple fretboard then i'd be considering swapping my parents for it -
As i've said before, I only want an Exciter for what it adds to the high end so the "optical big bottom" wouldn't get used and would therefore be a waste of time, plus, for the version with the optical big bottom, it's more expensive as i also said before and I can't really afford to go spending more money on stuff I'm not going to use I hope you weren't taking the piss with what you said because then i'll look a complete fool

Ghost_Bass... STOP IT! You're doing weird things to me! I'm starting to want the array of pedals I wanted a few years back... MUST... RESIST... PEDALBOARD... LOOKS... SO... NICE... I really would end up totally disregarding my rack setup so I could buy loadsa pedals which isn't a good thing because I have now got an EXACT rack setup that I want to get. Admittedly, not getting it all yet but who goes spending 1.2k on stuff in one go when they haven't got a job right now. TheAceOfBass... I've heard they're pretty good so i'll keep my eye on one, cheers for the post
