Aaaw, wow! Thank you for those kind words and I'm glad I could be of help 👍 Does that mean you can say "truss rod adjustment" without breaking out in a sweat? 🤣🤣

Defo man. I’ve even taken your advise with the yoga mat!

  2. Meant to post sooner. Mike was awesome and invited my to his house to teach me how to actually setup my basses - including stuff that scared the bejesus.

Super patient and amazing. I’m now rocking what he taught me on my other basses.

Brilliant dude, great coffee and great craic.

How do you know these things???? 😮 No, really....where can I find this info as I only seem to find out after releases / updates and have no idea of whats coming up?

They had mentioned midi was in progress a while back. Then posted this today. I’m making an educated guess 😂😂😂

So I've come to the conclusion that the Anagram is not for me. :( It's good, but I'm a little underwhelmed by the range of effects and I foresee issues with its usability in a live situation.

Anyone know how to do a factory reset so I can send it back?

    I don’t think there’s a factory reset per se.

there’s a new update due tomorrow which will likely improve MIDI (presuming).

I find the Suite a bit clunky and not that intuitive but have got used to it. I've not tried to create any patches in the Suite....is this a function as Ive not really looked? 🤷‍♂️ All my patches have been created directly on the Anagram as its so easy. I hope you persevere and get used to it as it is a great unit.

The suite is awful IMO. Fine for loading NAM profiles and IRs… but not much else.

Hopefully Darkglass fix it. They’ve been good with updates so far.

Is the Anagram a better option than a used Quad Cortex which is perhaps 2 to 300 quid more?

I had an anagram (and pretty much every other modeller it seems) and I keep coming back to the QC. Even with parallax now available, I still prefer the tone I’ve made and I’ve yet to find something elsewhere that sounds as good to me. But I do run a complex chain on the QC tbf.

Anagram is great and probs would have done the job for most instances. I preferred it to the Fractal FM3 and Kemper stuff. But didn’t knock the QC off. Size of the anagram is ace.

I would try both if you can.

I’ve just bumped the sellers thread for the Warwick 5 string . Interesting to see  the response.
I am a tad surprised that nobody advised me to keep ,and downtune the bass I already have ..

I’d probs do this, especially if it’s a bass you actually like.

I prefer my 4 strings drop tuned rather than 5 strings personally (A# standard for me)

I’m convinced it was the drummers cymbals that caused my tinnitus

I had an offshore medical when I was younger - like 21/22. The doctor was hugely worried when my hearing test said I was absolutely obliterated in certain frequencies… which marred up to the drummers cymbals. Hearing is still pretty goosed!

  9. Sold Sam a Darkglass Anagram. Supremely rapid payment and even sent extra to cover me undercharging the postage.

Great guy and would proper recommend!

Let's pimp my originals band - The Inevitable Teaspoons

We're a five piece band based in NE Scotland (Aberdeen city and shire).  We have no guitarist - we're not anti-guitar, that's just how it ended up.  Instrumentation is drums, bass, keys, trombone, sax.  We formed when some of us quit another band but still wanted to play with most of the rest of the old band.  Frankly I don't know what pithy 1 or 2 word genre name can be applied to us.  Not trying to be obtuse, but I genuinely die a little inside when I get asked "what kind of music do you play?"  Umm, spoony music?  Sorta ska, but played kinda straight like rock?  I dunno.

We gig very infrequently because we're shy and lazy.  We usually play the places in Aberdeen which do originals bands - Cafe Drummond and Krakatoa, but have gigged further afield before - I think we've played in Perth a couple of times.  Right now we're doing some DIY recording in our rehearsal room, hoping to put an album together this year.  We have one EP and one album already released.

    Here's a very old video.

Remind me about September! Basschat get together aberdeen volume 2 😂

    Liking this a lot!

OoI what do you do about the keyboard parts when you gig?

Backing track with laptop (which controls our IEM mixes and click track) which outputs to a DI 😊

we did consider a keyboard player, but everyone we spoke with was a bit weird. We decided the synth and band was better as the 4 of us.

Take a fan and a towel.

Make sure you know where you're parking and whether you're loading/unloading from there.

Defo take a towel at least. And water. You don’t realise the heat that can be on stages.

And you’ll hopefully be having a great time so end up a sweaty mess. Maybe that’s just me. 😂

Thunderkunt - instrumental classic rock covers, a non gigging band, a bunch of old mates we rehearse every few weeks and have a laugh, and play some ridiculously complicated riffs - 70s drugs must have been strong maa-an!

Very much enjoy this name! 😂

  14. I play in an originals band called The Julian Year… we got told we were “cyber nu-metal”. Still do not know what that means! We’re difficult to classify. We’re not metal enough for metal, but too heavy for rock. Almost an Electric Callboy / Architects / Bring me the horizon / Enter Shikari vibe. Heavy guitars, bass, vocals but with EDM inspired synths.

We have existed for about 15 years, and went through line up changes with new names and styles often. Myself and the guitarist have been constant. We then got a drummer who we moved to vocals and he’s been a staple.

Currently, we gig rarely. Maybe every few months. Finding gigs is hard!

We got played on Alyx Holcombs introducing rock on Radio one. That was cool.

We also made a video for that song. Budget baby!

you can also find us on spotters, Apple, YouTube and the like!

That is a large increase! Did they explain why (sorry if you've explained elsewhere, sneaky work-based forum browsing!)?

Initially it was “sorry - prices are needing to go up. You know what it’s like”.

Everywhere I’ve seen so far has been about 40-60 - which id have been happy with paying. 125 for the same service seems bit of a kick.

Would be interested to hear what you've been quoted!

In my view a lot of instrument setup work has been undervalued over the years, and these days a guitar setup is one thing that you can't really buy off the internet.

I always think about how much time a job is likely to take, how much do I think it's reasonable for a skilled person (who's also taking liability for my instrument whilst on their care) to charge for that time?

The price was £47.50 in 2022, I was quoted £125 yesterday.

If you don't mind naming names - which local establishment have you been going to at which you have noted the price rise?

Posted but maybe shouldn’t name. Will PM.

  18. Cheers folks, there is a drastic change on the nut tbf - standard to A#. But that was the exact same back in ‘22. Every bass I get gets the same treatment.

String gauge is usually 105 to 135.

EDIT: also - there has never been a new nut fitted, always just filled to suit the larger strings.
