20?! Thats just a shop isn't it? Dan
They are as much the instrument I play as the bass is... in fact some of them can be played without the bass. If I hit serious financial issues though they do double as a shop for emergencies. (BTW- the 20 excludes bypass loopers, expression pedals and CV controllers!).
Big Dug is a killer track!
Thanks dude. There is s**t load going on in that track... I 'think' it uses more effects than any other track too (2 parallel effect loops, fuzz, envelope, low pass filter, delay, compression, bit crushing with LFO controlled Low Pass in the 'chorus' sections) -it's a minefield . That song is guilty of tap dancing and while it sounds pretty wicked it isn't that much fun to play as I have to press quite complex combinations of buttons in little time with great accuracy while playing in time... We do it live all that often - Just special occasions Where the OP is concerned... difference is that this is what I do. Synthesised music using a bass, in an analogue way. The board is a visual thing as much as the music is an audible thing. I spend hours and hours every week literally living and breathing my set up. If something sounds slightly off live I can identify the cause pretty easy. I can play with one hand and one foot while fixing cables with the other - I know as I've done it live! If you are going to use masses of stuff like that you NEED to put that kind of time and effort in. My set up is a case of lift the lid off, plug it in at the mains, one cable to the amp and one to the drum machine. It's a 30 second set up. If your guitarist wants to do that then tell him, if it ain't this tidy then he can go knickers:

pantherairsoft replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
Cheers Shep! Youve got me drooling over those 8 way loop switchers...
The Buzz Electronics ones? Real good for the money... Mine will be up for grabs soon as I'm 'hopefully' moving to a GigRig system. -
I sure nobody would object to some fresh reading material tonight.....
Not until I have the pics! (ones on tour, ones waiting on a board re-arrangement & the other just hasn't sent any yet) -
Shep on Bass - Interviews about effects!
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Effects
great idea for a series of interviews. Thanks for putting the work in and sharing with the rest of us.
Thanks buddy. I have another 3 back and written up ready waiting on photo's from the interviewees so the next one will be up as soon as I have the visuals (pedalboard shots mainly).
Some great stuff in this already, looking forward to next installment. Any chance of getting this pinned?
It can be pinned... Though I waiting for the new BassChat Blog to go live (link at the top by the calendar/shop etc) to see if I can post them all there. Soon as I know how that software works and looks we'll see wether its better pinned here or not. Really excited to get more of these posted. -
It looks PERFECT save for the digital artifact that many of them seem to suffer from.
I've never experienced it buy heard of a couple of others that have... Though it's a part of the 'stomp' (single band) compressor, which I wouldn't really use anyway. No one ever says anything but good stuff about the 'studio' mode - which is by far the best compressor I've ever had the pleasure of using.

TC Nova Dynamics in studio (3-band) mode is bloody lovely. Subtle. Transparent. Amazing. Shame it's discontinued

Cheers guys... Really looking forwards to it!

EBS stuff is typically bright. They are quite clean and hi-fi sounding. The Fafner is my favourite of the EBS range and while it has the classic EBS zing it does have a lovely drive channel and some great gritty tube warmth. Tonally the thing is a monster. It does weigh a fair bit and the little red lightbulb in it does have a habit of blowing (silly design... Not that it affects the performance!) but other than that it really is an amazing amp.

SOLD in Romania this EBS Fafner TD 600
pantherairsoft replied to nelu_bass's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
For anyone concerned - the little red bulb blowing is a VERY common issue with these amps. I got through 4 in 6 months! It was a rather silly design feature to use a little light bulb rather than an LED. A quick email to EBS scored me a handful of free bulbs, and after they went a quick trip to a man with a soldering iron replaced the fitting with an actual LED. Easy fix. AMAZING amp! -
Mark @ Bass Direct = Top Man = Top Service!
pantherairsoft replied to tonyf's topic in General Discussion
Mark deserves an extra special mention for the sheer amount of hassling and massive email bombardment I've thrown his way the last couple of weeks! Never anything than a gentleman and even made an effort to pretend I'm not annoying! Mark, you are a top top man! Shep -
John bought a pedal off me. Easy transaction. Very happy. Thanks dude! Shep

Dead signal problem - solved by Pantherairsoft in 21 mins - Thanks!
pantherairsoft replied to redbandit599's topic in Effects
Glad that helped. Tip 1 - read the manual The words are for a dual channel set up (dry/effect) and the labelling numbers are there to tell you which is priority in a mono set up. TBH I'm unsure how it managed to 'bypass' pedals before it, but I'm insane enough without spending too much time trying to figure that one out!!! I agree with the comment above. Personally I run dirt before modulation as the dirt adds new upper harmonics which the chorus and flange effects will then be applied too (makes them cut through better!). That said, if you've read any of my blog posts you'll see that I'm a big advocate of 'trying everything'! If it sounds right to you then that's right!! The synth Wah is likely best early in the chain, though worth noting that 90% of effects will say they work best first receiving a clean signal so don't take it as written. Octave effects tend to sound a little odd after dirt (IMO) though so maybe leave it where it is. Glad we sorted the issue! -
Woolly mammoth clone VS Devi Ever Soda Meiser
pantherairsoft replied to Charles G Mosse's topic in Effects
Yeah. Rebel effects UK. The guys name is Vince. Too chap. Great builds too. Around £35-40 a clone. Both his Mammoth and his Soda Meiser are great - they are totally different fuzz's though! -
Dead signal problem - solved by Pantherairsoft in 21 mins - Thanks!
pantherairsoft replied to redbandit599's topic in Effects
So your saying signal can always he heard but when the way is bypassed other effects can not be heard (just the clean tone running through them?). 1stly make sure you are using the Out 1 (Dry) from the Bass Synth Wah. If you are then can you write your signal chain out for us (order of pedals). -
Wonderful news pal
:-)

Dual mono... That was ME using the wrong terminology I know this as we had a lengthy conversation at my studio on Sunday about this.
When you say 'biamp', do you know what 'biamp' means? The compact is a full range cab an not suited to inclusion in a bi-amp rig. Anything that is suited to a bimap setup won't be suited to running with the compact with one head.
He's running a 2-rig stereo set up not a bi-amp set up. One rig is 'clean' the other rig is 'dirty'. Wrong terminology.
Wrong key too (Century 4).
Lol... I seem to be constantly turning 4 strings into 5 today - It's quite a skill!
Does this mean it's going to be done soon ish??
Soon-ish... No specifics at the mo. I think we are looking weeks rather than months now.
-
EBS NEO 110 or 112 would be great for your noise channel (As I know what your setup is and what you are trying to do)... but I'd personally just do parallel effects chains leaving one side totally empty... personally. Save yourself the extra amp and cab and replace it with an LS-2
Now that is a cool looking bass. I used to struggle a bit with that Roscoe shape, but to my eye now, it's very much the "Thumb Bass" of the Roscoe range and that's never a bad thing
Wait until you see it with the angled pickups AND the angles ramp between them... I think the layout looks killer!
