I mean there was a 10 year period when I was not playing at all, did not even own an instrument. Are you saying it's possible to factor that in for the averages? Already feeling better!

I mean I genuinely don't understand this sort of a thing... why are you here then, a topic dedicated to this? 😁 To give you an example, I don't care about metal bass or the genre... to me personally it sounds and feels like nothing, so... I don't read metal bass topics, or comment on them, saying I have no interest in this and to me it all sounds like metallic farts. You don't care about the fake outrage... again, why are you here, just to position yourself above other people with some holier than thou opinion? It's not like we open a new topic every time a half-entertaining Sapko video comes up. 😁 "Creating instead of spending time outraging" is hardly a convincing opinion when one then drops a "I don't care but I'm still here commenting" line... or can that be considered part of the creative process? Will all this be in the lyrics of their new catchy song? 😁 Also, what outrage? It's a 5 min video people don't even watch till the end, it's not like the outrage is stopping generations of content and music being dropped, this is something I'd watch on the loo 😁 I just found it funny someone is actually trying to sell guitar courses with a million-view cameltoe spread. I think shit like this should be called out indeed, there should be evidence videos of it indeed, we should have a laugh at these videos and the fools if they entertain us, then we should move on. We should not "outrage" or tell other people what they should be spending their free time on. If not interested in a specific topic: there are many many many other topics and forums where you can be the contrarian just as easily 😂. Welcome to the internet. Absolutely no hard feelings, but I honestly don't understand when someone comes to a topic that's ACTUALLY about a topic and just shits on the ongoing stuff. Well good on ya. I am here because these silly videos entertain me.

Always used one, you can still wander like 0.25mm if the step drill head "grabs" the holes on left and right sides, and then these add up to 0.5mm... 😀 And I have no room for a press drill so just have to steady the hands.

Do check out Thomann every now and then. Sometimes they get models you might want and the waiting time is in the months, not years. Not fully customisable but still lots of options. I ordered mine with a 3-4 month wait time from Thomann and got it in like 2 months.

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

I guess we'll need to dissect one of these and re-build them for the purpose? https://sound-au.com/project150.htm https://www.ecircuitcenter.com/Circuits/op_bandcut_boost/op_cutboost.htm https://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/filter/band-stop-filter.html -

This sounds pretty funky! Do you happen to have a schematic for the circuit? I'd like to breadboard this one out. -
I got a template and a proper punch as well, the problem is when I actually hit it with the drill. I don't have a big machine, just a hand drill with step heads. If I am off 0.5mm to the left here, and 0.5mm to the right there, this is barely noticeable with some pot wiggle, but when two boards needs to be aligned for header pins, and the footswitch can't wiggle, and you realise both audio jacks are just a TAD further from the enclosure than they should be... it's suddenly a bigger problem 😁 But honestly, I am surprised the prototype is not a lot worse. I did not expect a lot from some first experiment. Now I wonder if it works. The Pot Hell will confirm hopefully in a couple days, depending on free time. Will also need to adjust the design using what I learned.

Did not break out of the prototype phase for now, but learned a lot. For example, I need to be much better with the drill so the boards can actually align. Need to move some stuff around, add 0.5-1mm here and there... getting there slow 😅 Having a lot of hope for the socketed testing board to try some more stuff!

We could do a swap and compare our pedals - I have one P&C PCB left I wanted to build anyway at some point

I used the Fuzzdog one, Dirt Dessert. Drive below 2pm is quiet and useless, and between 3pm and 4pm it gets incredibly loud and overdriven very very quickly. I can wah it, yeah. As blend, I assume you're referring to MIX? For me, that's not really a type of clean blend, as it's very much driven and impacted by the DRIVE value. The touch dynamic also changes greatly between low MIX and high MIX, it does not just change the signal balance/level. The bass switch will be removed, as it will be always on. I would be blending the clean bass signal into the driven bubbly mixed signal, but I'll breadboard this out to see if it makes any sense. On the long run when I might actually be selling anything more than 1 pedal per 3 months, I am also planning to have JLC solder on at least the resistors, and maybe some caps (depending on cost), to speed up things. But I also want to give it a go myself first SMT just seems like a different kind of fun.

Nice plans! I have some of my own as well 😁 My prunes and custard clone, the Plüm will go through some changes. I want to build my own version, slightly changing some stuff, e.g. trying out some LEDs instead of the diodes, etc. I think it could do with softer clipping, and I am a sucker for the sound of LEDs. Not that satisfied with the OD part of the original, and the drive pot's usable range is also quite small in my opinion. I found anything apart from between 2pm-4pm positions basically useless. That's going to the breadboard soon. I also need to test if a P&C can benefit from a BLEND, or if it's useless in that context. What can I say, I am a big BLEND fan, I think almost every pedal should have it 😁 If I get the Fázz working, I am also looking to change some pots and R and C values in there to fine-tune it a bit to what I think it should sound like E.g. the original Mastotron has a switch to cut off the whole bass or some of it - NOT IN MY HOUSE! Already removed that switch. Once that's done, I want to create an SMT version of it and slowly transition away from through-holes. Speaking of SMTs, how do you do yours? Your Aotearoa looks so nice. Do you use a hot plate / hot air gun, or are you a solder iron wizard? I got a hot plate, but haven't got the chance to use it yet.
