  1. Thanks for that not dealing in used goods I hadn’t realised these vat options existed !
  2. Yep , I feel a blues vibe now , it was going to be an up beat rocky type toon , but I guess I’ll just reduce the BPM till it sounds appropriate !
  3. Doesn’t really work like that though Even if a business sells a product at a loss , they still have to charge vat on it if they are registered I do think it unfair to be charging vat on a used item/ private sale that had Vat paid on it when new , of course, when you start crossing borders with the goods, it gets messy
  4. I wasn’t sure myself TBH , but it does look a bit like the the enclosure at the zoo , but maybe loads of other zoos have the same 😂
  5. Well done mr Delvar , there are a few things that float to the top , the cream being the one I was thinking of 😂 It’s a shame that you don’t get to pick a photo , but I am looking forward to it when you do
  6. Come on folks , get those ears caressed and smothered in the marvellous offerings above , then throw some ticks in the boxes, you know it makes sense. and for those who are looking to get creative there is always the early start for January ........
  7. A little bit early maybe , but it is just possible there are a few of you sitting around full of minces pies, chocolate and cake just needing an excuse to get creative. Have a look at this picture from last months winner @Doctor J and let's hear what sort of toonage it inspires e Usual rules apply. You know the drill: ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and written/recorded this month. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ Bagpipes. ( Christmas truce now expired) . Also on thin ice with panpipes, to be perfectly honest. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you. Deadline for entries is midnight on Burns Night *, Monday 25th January Enjoy * this does not constitute or indicate bagpipe tolerance , it is a mere coincidence.
  8. Here is your go to Christmas listening folks As is tradition, we've done something a bit different for December... so instead of composing to a photo, it's a covers competition. any song or instrumental recorded and produced this year Choose your favourite 3 It didn't have to be a Christmas song. This is the only time of year that bagpipes are allowed! But that still doesn't make them right. so on offer for you to this Christmas season are....... 1 @Dad3353 2 @fingers211 3 @WalMan 4 @Leonard Smalls 5 @MoonBassAlpha 6 @lurksalot 7 @upside downer 8 @skankdelvar 9 @bobbass4k There we go a marvelous showcase of BC talent Voting will close at the very turn of the year 00.00 01 01 2021 Good luck to all Happy Christmas , Enjoy
  9. Excellent, I shall try to get the voting thread up in the morning after I’ve tidied up the war zone that will be the lounge in the morning
  10. OK I'm done, well , short , sweet? well you can decide but surprisingly on topic , I thought of a well renowned and respected bass player in a mahoosive band and well took inspiration , and then , you know , went awry Flea with a sombrero
  11. Sadly not , the only stuff I have recorded is based on the monthly challenges , but fear not , I am practicing a truncated acapella version of Wagner’s ring cycle , with me doing all the parts.......with a slight caveat ... I am not doing any singing and it’s not Wagner’s ring cycle 😎
  12. After having approximately 365 days notice of this challenge , I’ve had an idea 4 days to do it might prove impossible , but I’ve finished for chrimbo , Mrs Lurks wants to do the shopping , I seem to have secured some recording time , this might not end well but it’s worth a go see you on, or at , the deadline .....hopefully
  13. as a quick cheat , open up the backing track in a DAW and create markers or regions over the track it will be a live visual aid as to where to are in the music , it helps for finding sections that you might want to practice more than others and will get your head around the progression fairly quickly
  14. It’s mad , as I’m a mod in this part of the forum and as I have entered this competition and been involved with it from close on the start , you’ll think I’d know this was going to crop up in December , and now , just now , I’ve had an idea ! forget the idea I had about doing the Roy castle ‘record breakers’ song about dedication and rewording it procrastination ........., it is way too hard , I’ve had another one
  15. Couldn't agree more and if anybody has been busy this year or wants to get started even a bit late , here is a good enough reason to do so
  16. The December thread is here Apologies to @Skol303 as I have just lifted your introduction from last year and used it again
  17. 🎄 December Cover Song Challenge 🎄 As is tradition, we're doing something a bit different for December... so instead of composing to a photo, we're running a covers competition. Basically, choose a song or instrumental that you like and write your own version of it. You can be faithful to the original or completely ruin it get creative; the choice is yours. All of the usual rules apply with a few additional caveats: It doesn't have to be a Christmas song. You're welcome to submit anything recorded this year (not just from December), so there's no excuse for those of you in cover bands not to enter. Don't go lifting any samples from whatever song you intend to cover, as that will breach the usual terms and conditions leading to extreme punitive measures. This is the only time of year that bagpipes are allowed! But that still doesn't make them right. The deadline for entries is midnight on December 24th.
  18. Ah , well we will need a picture from you for the January challenge ! What I am thinking, is starting the January comp early, just as the December voting starts. I suspect that many might have the opportunity to have some recording fun between Christmas and new year. oooh radical change , there’ll be letters don’t you know
  19. Well done @Doctor J a popular choice and very worthy winner. December competition rules traditionally differ a touch in that it becomes a cover song/tune challenge. I will get the thread started this evening.
  20. the voting thread is up and rolling , or segwaying ( segue in my case )
  21. It's Time to have a listen to the fantastic offerings served up here for you for the November composition Challenge. The picture was chosen by @upside downer after a joint win with @Dad3353 and @xgsjx Choose your favourite 3 and tick the boxes 1 @xgsjx 2 @Dad3353 3 @skankdelvar 4 @NickD 5 @upside downer 6 @fingers211 7 @MoonBassAlpha 8 @Leonard Smalls 9 @lurksalot 10 @Doctor J That's your lot , plenty to enjoy in there , have a listen through a couple of times, create a playlist , write a review .........but cast a vote or 3 as well you know they're worth it The poll will close just in time for the annual December special , which will be at midnight on 30th November Enjoy
  22. I’ll get the voting thread up tonight when I get in folks
  23. ok here is some beach bum boogie for you , and I am a bit gutted I didn't think of that for the segue at the start I think I have covered most bases with the lyrics and layout on the photo and am reasonably happy with the result , even managed to collar Mrs Lurks for some input, I was intending to ask the lady across the road but I mentioned doing a bit of recording back in March .......... they are moving house on Friday , I don't think there is a connection now for a listen through to all your offerings
  24. I am so itching to listen to these , really looking forward to it
  25. As part of my cunning plan I am hoping for third party collusion , and to be anal about it , I need the room to sound right , it might not come off , but I’ll hold out till the crunch , oh and I’ll rehearse my singing a bit more 🙄
