1. I asked for £850 sterling and he sent in euro's - so its his risk I take it? I am communicating with him - just want to make sure everything is done fair and square - i.e. I get my money and he gets his bass. I was just looking for advice if anyone else had experienced the same thing. Many thanks so far!
2. Hi all, Need some help asap so that I can unite a buyer with his recently aquired Thunderbird bass! Because we are doing an International transfer, we have been hit by an exchange rate fluctuation between the day he sent the money and the day I received it, which has left me short of my asking price. What do people normally do in this situation. I want him to get the bass, but with an £18 shortfall - I'm making less as I also have to arrange courier. many thanks
3. This has been sold. Thanks For sale or possible trade is my 2009 WHite Gibson Thunderbird. This bass is in good condition, the only 3 slight signs of wear are some buckle rash on the back (hopefully you can see in the pics, a small wear mark on the bridge pup from my thumb (in pic) and one minor ding in the head (pic also!) The bass plays perfectly fine, feel free to arrange a test, never had any problems with it and will be sad to see it go mainly because of the attached memories (no pics i'm afraid !) I'm selling it with the flightcase which is fitted as can be seen in the pics and has a lovely white interior that smells like cookies. This came with the straplock behind the neck and has not been moved, this is a factory alteration and there are no holes where a straplock used to be. I've had this bass from April 2009 and I'm the first owner, bought from Coda music somewhere in London. Open to some offers (warwicks or Fender Geddy Lee basses) but unless a price match, then some cash on top also. Ibought this for £1100, so looking for £800 as these are reasonably rare ( at the time i struggled to find one in the UK) and it come with the case also. These do actually fit in Warwick Rockbags incase you want to fit it in one. Many thank, Ross
4. Got that right, sad to have to part with mine - will deffo buy another warwick when I have some cash, just not now
5. ***PRICE DROP*** Warwick Streamer $$ Natural Finish [s](£750)[/s] (£650) *** Cash Only, I don’t want a recording studio/Spector Bass or your granny’s teeth*** For sale is my Warwick Streamer $$ Natural Finish bass guitar. This is an active/passive fretted bass with gold hardware. A few dings on the head – all very minor, one slight indent above the neck pick-up from where I place my thumb. Will deliver within reason (I stay in Falkirk but work next to the Gyle in Edinburgh on a daily basis). Available to try before you buy – comes with Warwick padded gigbag, owners manual and kit which includes allen keys and truss rod tool + wax. There is nothing wrong with this bass, which is why I’m happy to let people try before they buy, I have to pay bills and don’t have any children to sell. Cheers, Ross
6. I'm skint, so I have to sell everyhting I have of any value.....Grrrrrreat...I always promised myself I wouldn't ever sell another bass after the Warwick Thumb incident, but here we are! I'm reluctantly selling these so please restrain from commenting on my poor sales pitch: Warwick 2006, Warwick Streamer $$ with MEC humbuckers and Straplocks. Minor indent above neck p/up where I dig my thumb in and 3 minor dents on the head - have no effect on the playability. I paid over £1k, would like to see as near to £800 as possible Epiphone 2009 Epiphone T-Bird (Crimson), good condition other than the nut from the jack input has gone - 20p at B&Q for a replacement? Great bass £125 - other than the jack nut this is good as new Spector Spector professional 6 string (Amberburst?). EMG humbucker p/ups, a few minor blemishes - nothing serious, plays brilliantly £180 Pictures to follow/on demmand. I'm based in Falkirk, pick up is preferred but I am prepared to meet within reason. ***Possible trades with £££ for anything Gibsonny or Fenderry*** Cheers
7. Would you go golfing expecting to borrow clubs when you got there? To work expecting to borrow a shirt, tie and tousers? Don't lend it. If they want to call you and ar*e - let them, if everyone wants to think you're a tw@t - let them, at the end of the day, you're the one who can play the gig - not them. I never let people use my stuff and if they ask me, I ask for £600 to hire it per hour - that goes for the venue and bands. I'm hated amongst most of the bands in our scene/area because of this and it actually makes me feel quite good to be honest - at least I don't do something I don't want to - plus all of those bands are a bunch of hippies/scenesters in my opinion, and i'm sticking it to 'em...
8. Not to start a one upsmanship contest, but I've had a few absolute monster blood blisters (far larger than the pics in other posts) on my fingers in my time. I'd advise sticking a pin in it ASAP and slowly letting the fluid out. If it is a blood blister, then the blood underneath will conjeal and harden in a day and does actually provide a comfortable fingertip to then play with in about 2 days. Gradually the skin will crack over the following week or so - DO NOT PEEL OFF! If you leave it to come off when playing it will mean you aren't ever using red raw fingers to play. Just my opinion.
9. Might as well make my first video on here be one of me wearing a size 8 girls dress....quite well I believe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=
10. Apologies - no pics (Laptop has broken and doing this from work), Location is Falkirk - can meet in Edinburgh/Glasgow/30 mile radius roughly
11. Trace Elliot AH500-7 Bass head 500watt solid state bass head in perfect working condition comes with cover and link cables. I'm having to buy a new car so this has to go as it is a back-up I no longer can afford to have sitting around. Bought 1 year ago - great head and very versatile, I have the footswitch still boxed with connection cable. 7 band eq, compression and effects loop. A 500W head with a 7 band graphic equalizer. The internal (500W) highly efficient output stage uses MOSFET technology as well as containing a series effects loop and an electronically balanced XLR DI output selectable pre/post preamp. £350 on its own (bought new for £700). Trace Elliot 15" Bass Cabinet Excellent sounding Cab and has been extremely reliable, great condition - not much more to say really. £500 for the head and cab together or £200 for the cab on its own (I bought it 1 year ago for £400, possibly £499) Cheers, Ross
12. Epiphone Thunderbird Bass Good Condition - Burgundy, no marks or dents (nut has come off of Jack input - literally a matter of pence to replace) Bought new 6 months ago for £200 - will sell for £125 with a strap. Pick-up and cash preferred. Cheers
13. Try watching a few different players on YouTube. I'd suggest the following: Les Claypool, Flea, Doug Wimbish, Ryan Martinie and Wooten. They all have different slap styles and hand positions (Wimbish taps almost but has the action so low and the strings so bright that it sounds like a gun at times). I took ages to learn to slap because I had a Stu Hamm instructional DVD and just find the "proper" slap position too hard to work with. I slap using flea's style and can (without sounding big headed hopefully) beat the daylights out of my bass and do some cool stuff. It is a bit harder to do some techniques like double thumping or even treble thumbing though - but they sound a bit too muso at times and don't suit many occasions. A lot of people take the michael out of fleas style as it is quite primitive - but it leaves your hand in an idieal position to play fingerstyle and interchange between a lot of different techniques I find. I like it because it is more aggressive sounding and compensate for not using double thumb stuff by mixing up a load of muting in between and have been able to create my own quite unique style. My 2 cents...
14. I bought an epiphone before putting the money down on a Gibson and was shocked at how good the epiphone was. I would urge anyone out there wanting a bass for pure rock looks and sound to pick one of these up. £200 retail but there's always a few on Gumtree for about £150. Igotthe Gibson around a month later and it is amazing (they are putting the strap pins behind the neck now). I had to go for the creammodel and it sounds unbelieveable - worth the extra cash. But I still use the Epi frequently. A lot of people go on about the dive and whilst I agree with the strap pin behind the neck solution i'm not that bothered about the dive you do admittedly get with it on the upper horn. I rarely let go of the neck when I'm playing - cant understand how you'd make any noise otherwise - so it has never been a problem. ^^That hasn't answered the original question i know - apologies to the thread starter!
