1. I have used the E string as a resting place for my thumb for 25 years but changed to a floating thumb when I got my first 5 string and have not looked back, for me it's more comfortable and string bampening is better. I would say try both methods and see which one suits you best. R.
 2.
Beautiful. The top and back look so creamy.
Thanks, I'm so glad I went for the white naple on the back as well as the front. R.

 5. The bass is now varnished and in the drying cupboard, hopefully I will get a couple of pics of it this week before it's assembled, Chris says it will be finished by the end of the week and ready for delivery. Can't wait! R.
 6. I have the final bill for my Overwater now as it's nearly finished so I have dropped the price of the Sterling to £700 so I can afford to pay it R.

 10.
That's beautiful - the grain is really eye catching and the matching headstock really works.
Thanks Rowbee, it's is a beautiful bass, if it had one more string I'd be keeping it for sure. R.
 11.
Looks good so far. I'll look forward to seeing that progress. It's fascintaing how it takes the finishing process to bring out the real beauty of the facing woods.
Thanks BaasBus, I think the figuring on the maple will be quite subtle even after it's varnished. I wanted something different and more understated then the curly maple on my Progress. R.

 13. I love this bass but as I tend to use 5 strings these days and prefer rosewood necks this is the least used bass I own. I have a fretless Overwater being built for me so I could do with freeing up some cash to pay for it, I'm not desperate so kinda hope it doesn't sell! I know that sounds weird but I'm sure a lot of you will know where I coming from Generally it's in superb condition with no buckle rash, but does have two dings, they are shown in the pics. lovely low action. Comes with MM case. £700.00 Collected from South East London or possibly Luton. R. 15. I have an EBS Octabass pedal, it tracks well and is a more subtle sounding effect than an OC2, a tad too subtle for my liking. That MXR pedal looks promising. R
 16. Well I bought this 18 months ago from someone on Basschat but haven't used it at all so I thought I might see if anyone wants to swop. it's in good condition with only minor scatches, no box or manual and it has velcro on the base. Open to any offer of a like for like trade. Sell for £50 including postage. R.

 19.
Hello, recently I have searched long & hard for a fretless 4 & during the past weeks I have been fortunate to place my hands on the likes of Zon,Pedulla,Warwick & Fender, but rather than boost the American or European economies I suggest you contact Chris or Laurence at Overwater (email or phone) which is the route that I finaly took & in my case was fortunate to purchase a used Progress fretless that they had in stock,it arrived this morning & it is truly stunning.Out of all the instruments that I have played this is far & away the best use of my hard earned cash, good luck in your quest, mike b.
Chris sent me pics of your fretless progress just in case I was interested in it unfortunately it had one string too few for me, lovely looking bass though.
