  1. Tech 21 DP-3X, becuase it's the sound in my head that I've been chasing for 25 years.
  2. Difficult. Three absolute certainties, the rest are beloved but could look different on another day.
  3. Thanks for clearing that up! It must have been brand new as I'm sure he was still playing the Rick on the GFTO tour.
  4. I think he was still using the Rick 8 string at that time. The Ranney came later. I might be wrong though! I have that show on DVD and it's such poor quality I've hardly watched it.
  5. Primus and the Chocolate Factory, which I had already heard on Spotify and was mildly entertained by, but my girls heard it and thought it was wonderful so I bought it for them to listen to in the car.
  6. Good to hear from someone who has tried them both out! I should have worded my post a bit better. I meant that my Dug really does hit the spot, particularly with my Rickenbacker - it pulls off a great Ric-O-sound impersonation with that thick bass running underneath the grit on top! I'm sure I'd love the YYZ but it's expensive to find out... I realise the YYZ is voiced differently, but is it going to do satisfy an itch that the Dug isn't already…
  7. I'm itching to try one of these, and have been tempted to get one on drip several times, but I'm struggling to imagine what it could do that my DP-3X doesn't already.
  8. VERY nice... and it looks like they've finally sorted out that headstock!
  9. A lovely pedal in superb condition. I love the sound but my Tech 21 DP-3X is meeting my dirty needs. Price includes postage to mainland UK.
  10. How so? He seemed to be pretty involved with it's development.
  11. It's not about effects - it's about the notes. Something as simple as octaves works wonders. The bass and drums should be the solid foundation, with the guitar on top. If the sound weakens when the guitar solos, it's probably dominating at all other times.
  12. It's what we used to shout in the school playground, usually with crossed fingers, to be considered exempt from the game of Bulldog or It or similar.
  13. I believe they always identified as a band comprised of Christians, rather than a 'Christian band'. Dug renounced his faith a few years ago. Incidentally, 'King's X' seems to be the American version of 'fanites'.
  14. I wish that chap Vanya was on Basschat, I'm sure he'd have something to add.
  15. I'm a King's X fan and love Dug's tone - but it's not a sound that works for me (although it is fun to mess around with). This pedal does a lot more than just the Dug sound we expect to hear.
  16. I too was very concerned about the mids of the Dug, but I've now owned one for a year and played it continuously and it has never been an issue. Yes, there is an inherent mid scoop when the mix is engaged, but I've come to realise that this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've certainly never been lost in the mix with it. As I read on Talkbass, there is a 'mid scoop', not a 'mid void'.
  17. Nice! Are they called Dead Pets or Pet Deaths?
  18. That was incredibly beautiful. Thank you.
  19. There's so many Beatles covers out there so it's hard to pick definitives, but here's a particularly good one. And for balance...
  20. Well I certainly am!
  21. Now I'm getting The Spotnicks?! 🤣
  22. And now it's changed!
