  1. Melvins - seriously unpredictable live. Once was one of the best gigs I'd ever seen, another time they'd decided to treat the audience to an hour of deafening drop-A droning.
  2. I've got the Hipshot - I haven't installed it yet but research suggests a couple of the little felt pads are needed. The Babicz comes with a shim. I don't think it's curved to fit the JC arch but @AndyTravis seems to have fitted his successfully. They work, but only just. Once they're set up you're ok, but there's just too many little issues as others have already mentioned. My main issue is how they're suspended on stilts away from the body like an oil rig. This is mainly an aesthetic concern as they just seem so fragile. The lack of space between the saddle and end of the bridge is a pain. Even if you use unsilked strings the lumpy wound part can still rest on the saddle. Bottom line - Jack Casady plays these things non-stop and he gets on ok with the bridge!
  3. Be careful with DV247 - unless it specifically states the case is in Romford, it will come from Germany.
  4. Afternoon all. I've just noticed Gear4Music have some Casady cases in stock! Needless to say I've bought one and it should be here on Monday. There are 3 left!
  5. From "Still... You Turn Me On" by ELP: "Every day a little sadder A little madder Someone get me a ladder" Stunning.
  6. That's odd... the pickups on my Thunderbird are much louder than the Casady. The Casady's low impedance pickup gives it that open, airy tone, but does give it a lower output.
  7. This, really. I've got both. They're both wonderful, but very different. I personally prefer the Thunderbird, but it can't do that Casady thing, or vice versa.
  8. Two very different basses. The only thing they have in common in the shape. The cheaper bolt-on is a decent bass for the money, but it doesn't feel or sound much like a Thunderbird. The Vintage Pro is a magnificent instrument.
