Rival Sons (and Dirty Honey) in Blackburn...it's a huge building (old theatre with verrrrry high ceilings), the support were really good (tho a smaller club would've suited them better), RS were sublime as always. No cannon kick, either (that's twice in a row now, I've been lucky), and a reasonably defined bass sound...

Saw them in Cardiff last night. Great show. The great hall at Cardiff Uni is only about 1500 capacity, so a really nice size venue to see a band. Dirty Honey were great. Rival Sons were fantastic as always, Jay Buchanan has such a good voice

Could be. I changed every cable I could!

I used to gig a Ampeg 610 and the Barefaced is much better ( and lighter!)

I'm beginning to think it might be my ears!

As @Mertonsays, it could just be a combination of crappy acoustics and other instruments taking up each other’s sonic space. I used to do a lot of biker rally gigs, and they always rented village hall type venues, most of which were terrible for live band sound. Tall ceilings with masses of big windows and wooden floors, felt like the sound was just bouncing off every surface and was rather unpleasant

It is best not to assume anything about amps or cabs in my experience.

Well it’s not entirely a baseless assumption. I gigged my MAG810 for several years, and have now gigged my BF Big Twin 2 for several years, and the difference is night and day. Granted, the post I was referring to was talking about a BF 6x10 but I’d be very very surprised if that cab wasn’t better than a MAG810

  4. That is very surprising. I gigged my very early ABM500 and MAG810 for for quite a few years in venues of varying sizes, and never got anywhere near 3/4 volume on the master, and I would imagine that the Barefaced 610 is far far superior to a MAG810 cab.

  5. Very nice. I went through phase of trying several Class D heads, TC RH450 & 750, Aguilar TH500, GB Shuttle 9.2, Darkglass M900 and the GK MB Fusion. I kept the GK way longer than I kept any of the others. To my (admittedly cloth) ears, GK amps have a really good core tone. I only changed it as I fancied going back to something heavyweight while I still could. Congrats on the new amp!

  6. My wife’s cousin had the privilege of supporting Skunk Anansie on tour a few years ago. He’’s a bassist too, and said that Cass used to watch their soundcheck search night. I remember him saying that doing his line check and the bands soundcheck with a player as high calibre as Cass Lewis watching from the side of the stage used to terrify him. He did also echo what many others have said already in this thread, that Cass is a very friendly guy who seems to have time for everyone. He also said that standing 15ft from Cass’ bass rig while listening to him soundcheck on the first night of the tour nearly made him do a sex wee! As he put it “monster player, with a monster tone”

I think we are imagining that on joining the band you also acquire the required skills and equipment.

Not sure about looks though..... otherwise I'd go Paul Simenon instead (No offense to Steve Hanley 😀)!

If we’re getting their looks and equipment, can I change my answer to John Taylor. That way, I’d be fighting off groupies with a sh*tty stick AND I’d own Bernard Edwards’ old Stingray! Win win! 😂

I failed to notice that you had started the thread, I assumed it was started by by the manufacturer/originator of the product, so please accept my apologies for inadvertently accusing you of pushing the product.

Definitely something I haven't seen or heard of (or even imagined) before, but good luck to them if they can create a need for them.

No apology necessary, and same as yourself, not something I’d ever really thought I’d see.

I read that, but why push the product on a bass forum if it's aimed at guitarists? Can't say I've ever met a guitarist who has felt the need to raise or lower his strap mid-song, or even at all after an initial adjustment.

I’m not pushing the product, I have zero affiliation to the product or it’s makers. It was just a product I saw, that I’d never seen before, something I found to be a bit quirky. So I thought I’d post it here to see if anyone else had ever seen anything of the same ilk.

Exactly what my guitarist needs it for. It's only one song that he needs to raise his strap for but it's a pain to do.

Sounds like it would be ideal for him then

Just trying to think of the applications.....

Bands who swap instruments between players maybe?

In the demo clip, I think they’re aiming it at guitarists who want the guitar hanging lower if they’re bashing out chords, but can raise it up for more technical stuff

My guitarist could do with something that does that....  It that looks a bit flimsy tbh.

I never even knew such a thing existed, or that there was even a market for it. The video clip I saw of it earlier, there’s a guy using two of them to make a swing, so it must be fairly sturdy. It does seem to be aimed more at guitarists
