Used mine at a gig on Saturday.
Touch of compression and the amp sounded amazing on its own.

Didn’t even need to/want to use any effects as the tone was incredible. Didn’t want to spoil it.

Nice EBS Sheehan signature pedal i see lurking on the board!

I must admit I`m liking my Jazz on the front pickup, bit of drive, sounds great.

I usually leave the pickup pan pot centred or biased slightly to the neck pickup, bit of mid boost, and through my Ashdown Hyperdrive pedal. Sounds great. Also come to realise that one of my favourite bass tones ever, is exactly that, a jazz bass through a drive pedal. The bass tone on Nancy Boy by Placebo

  3. Was a little surprised that he finished the set by doing Everlong on his own. I know DG and Hawkins seemed to have the biggest bond of all the FF members, but I thought playing My Hero with Shane on drums would’ve been the perfect finish.

  4. I’ve had generally good experiences with them. Traded my Bongo for a Dingwall through them, went up on the day to do the trade, young guy was pretty friendly. Plugged me in, and let me get on with it, said he’d be in office if I had any questions or needed anything. Any online purchases have been smooth enough too. However, a friend of mine went there a few years back with the intention of spending a fair amount of money. Managed to get into a heated discussion with Mark, who basically told him that he didn’t know what he was talking about. My friend is a pro session player of approx 30yrs experience, who is NEVER short of work, so I’m guessing that he does actually know what he’s talking about. I have no idea what went on in that shop that day, but I do remember my, normally very placid, friend calling me on the way home and saying “I’d strangle that pillock before I ever give him a penny of my money”! Seems that we all have vastly different experiences of BD

  5. My Yamaha Attitude Ltd 2. The scratchplate is just wrapped in black vinyl as I wanted to see what it looked like before ordering a custom plate. It’s had a DiMarzio Relentless pickup installed since that pic was taken A8907A78-98CB-4825-90F1-0FB6C9A42DA7.png

Thank you.  It is also a fantastic sounding and playing bass!  The action is pretty low which makes it so easy to play.  I think a set of black strings would make it look even more fantastic!

I love an active jazz bass. Been using my Sire V7 quite a bit lately. I’m a sucker for a maple necked Fender, if I wasn’t in the process of sorting a new amp out, I’d be all over this

  7. I’m sure I’m going to regret this but I made a promise that anything I buy this year needs to be paid for with gig earnings, or something else needs to go first. So here is my EBS TD650, in excellent condition. Always been stored in the rack case, that comes with it, or I kept it in a Gator rack bag. This is a serious piece of kit, 650w, capable of running at 2ohm, tube or solid state selection, filter bypass, built in compressor. I went through a stage of using Class D for a while, trying out GK, Aguilar, Genz, TC. Darkglass, but plugging this in for the first time was just incredible. So much depth to the sound. The one and only reason I’m selling it, is that I’m doing a rock covers project at the moment and decided to give my old ABM500 a whirl, and it just seems to work. So this is only for sale to fund an upgrade from the ABM500 to a 600 Evo 4.

There aren’t many around to compare the prices with, but I see that Bass Direct have one in at £650. I’ve priced it at £450 including the rack, not sure if that’s about right, but willing to be advised if I’m too far out.

The EBS specs are as follows:

The EBS TD650 is a real powerhouse, with incredible sound and features. It is extremely versatile and suited to any large venue, embracing any style of music or playing - be it indie or funk, country or punk, the TD650 will always rock the house.

The EBS TD650 is a compact and powerful package, loaded with Tube, Solid State and MOSFET technology. This no compromise amp will satisfy every demand of the most versatile bass player!

The EBS TD650 bass head includes a three-band equalizer with ‘sweepable’ midrange, notch filter, compressor, bright filter, pure overdrive section and extras that include the unique EBS Phantom Power System™, floating balanced XLR output, character filter, speaker simulator, line out and a serial/parallel effects loop.

The overdrive section can be selected in Tube or Solid-State mode, employing either pure Tube drive or Solid-State tube emulation, to create your sound.

This will be collection/meet up only I’m afraid. I would be very reluctant to place this in the hands of a courier. Any other questions, please ask.
Edit to say, should you wish to bring a cab and bass to my house to try it, to see how it sounds with your own gear, I’m more than happy with that. I have a Barefaced Big Twin 2 at my house that you are more than welcome to try it through if bringing a cab isn’t a viable option.

Lovely to see another Hyperdrive user. Such a great pedal once you know how to dial it in. I remember the frustration I had with it when I got it, which led to selling it. About a week later, Ashdown released the video of James Lomenzo detailing how he used it and dialed it in, and I HAD to get another one.

Really should start bringing my little pedalboard back, but not needed much in a ska band!

That video is really useful. The first tone he gets, the one he describes as ‘just a bit of a crack on top the string sound’ is so good! There was a discussion on a other thread about these pedals recently, and everyone was pretty much of the same opinion, that if Ashdown re-launched this pedal in a smaller form factor, it would sell really well.
