I have one myself and I can tell you it does what is says on the box! Can be used with any analogue instrument with direct conversion with no latency!! I use it with bass guitar and I’m very pleased with the result. (Especially since I can now compete with my keyboard playing mates:-).   4. String spacing is 18mm To be frank, I do think this is the way! 🧐 I've been asked to sell 'cheaper' by returning it to stock...as I replied, it seems to be going backwards. My genuine belief is that this is now a much better instrument.
  5. Wired in parallel but can be in series...even single/dual coils I’m sure switches can be fitted (micro for sure...) I’ll get around to a cavity pic ASAP.
  6. Alesis micro series used to be the bomb!! Here is a nice vintage with a power supply included. Studio use intended but small enough to fit on a pedal board if that’s what you want.... Blurb: ‘This is “the other” vintage compressor from Alesis. The Micro Limiter is a 1/3U stereo limiter which is famous for smashing drums, nuking snares, mullering cymbals and squashing bass guitar Although Alesis call it a limiter, at low compression levels – when the green LEDs are lit – it uses a ratio between 2:1 and 8:1. With the yellow LEDs on CR is around 10:1 and, with the final red LEDs lit, 16:1. It uses a soft-knee approach, so there is always some compression going on, but higher input levels means more compression and a higher ratio There’s no Threshold control – just Input, Release & Output controls and an In/Out switch. The back panel is equally minimal with input & output jacks and a power socket Release time is the key here – with fast release times and lots of compression you get pumping & breathing but slowing up the release changes the character of the sound immensely. At long release times the Micro Limiter is in gain reduction all the time but the depth of compression is still driven by the input signal. It’s possible to use huge amounts of gain reduction but still maintain articulation on signals like bass guitar. In this respect it’s more flexible than one of my favourites, the dbx 160X The Micro Limiter has another big advantage over its competitors – it’s a stereo device. This means stereo drum ambience, parallel buses and backing vocals are all targets for some serious compression.   9. Sorry for the late reply. Gigs were demanding. It is nice isn’t it😉 This can be returned to stock yes, but the improvements are so good that I would ask why... I prefer to sell as is now simply because it’s better and obviously less hassle. My opinion is the stock setup is not as versatile, and lacked true ‘oomph’ and sizzle. ie: going from a p bass sound to a jazz bass sound. Layman terms but you would get the point if/when you hear it!
  10. Sorry for late reply. Gigs were a demanding. Slight widening of the holes to fit the East pots. Restoring is just swapping parts I believe. Yes, this one has a truss rod....

  13. King double bass: Built In Cleveland, Ohio, USA circa 1931. Restored, set up and maintained by Laurence Dixon, UK since 2004. *Plywood/hardwood hybrid, violin shaped, round back 3/4 size. *Maple neck (with original engraved machines) and beautiful high grade ebony fingerboard, maple bridge (with metal adjusters) and ebony tailpiece with modern nylon over steel wire with length adjustment bolts. *’Ron Carter’ style ebony wood receiver endpin with various length (and woods) dowels. (New ones can be turned to any length required). This style of endpin encourages a natural/warm/woody sound. *Fitted with both Shadow SH950 dual and The Realist pickups for versatility in amplified tone. *Strings are D’Addario hybrids. *Black real leather bow quiver. *Protected with black Roth & Juntus canvas gig bag with reinforced straps. All work done by Laurence Dixon. This professional instrument is ready to be taken out and played without any work or extras needed. It has a beautiful sound and is the bass I recorded with on the first Paddington movie soundtrack and on the Kylie Minogue cover of ‘Let It Snow’ and in the West End shows Rent Remixed and The Hurly Burly Show (among other stuff).
