1. Not another one.....oh my god I have really bad GAS for an overwater at the moment and there a 3/4 around at the moment. this is worse than torture. I feel a meeting with the bank manager coming on. Bump for you and both of your stunning overwaters.
2. Bump for this baby. Im trying to grow my own money as we speak, and sell my Musicman...
3.
thats a really sweet rig you got there is that a mark king signature head i see there? impressive! hows the sound? on your ashdown , do the cones in your amp threaten to break?
Thanks for the comments, Sadly no not a mark king head, Just a Mag 300. I think they have changed color now with the new ones but the red does look similar to The Kings from a distance. The cones did used to shift a bit with big volume from the head when it was just the 4x10 cab, but the 1x15 really helped get rid of that, it was well worth the extra £130 for the 15"
4. Hello all. I don't post very much but have decided to stop being shy and post some pictures of basses and rigs that I have owned and my current setup. My first few basses I dont have any digital pics of so I will just list quickly. 1. My very first, the one that started it all off was a Yamaha RBX 4 String I got aged 14. Great bass loved it to pieces and great tone at just £150. Bargain. was the single split coil P version. I kept that until a few years ago. 2. A red Squier silver series Jazz. I loved this bass so very much and my biggest regret is trading it for the next bass. I got this when I just turned 15. Was using a Trace Elliot 1x15 SMX combo with this and the Squier. 3. My first "proper" bass I always say was my American standard P-Bass. Stunning maple neck, like butter to play. Bought this just before my 16th and got £120 trade in for the Jazz At this point I had upgraded to my Ashdown Mag 300 head and cabs as below. At this point I had the Fender and the Yamaha. The yamaha was traded in not long after I got the Fender for 4. Ibanez ATK. This was a growler of a bass, really ballsy and had a really good eq which I couldn't get a bad sound from. Great for slap I later found. I used this in the metal covers band I had and used the Fender for my Dads wedding and functions band, although not exclusively. I had This until about 2 years ago and really enjoyed playing it. In fact the pickup config and EQ would be the basis for a custom if I ever get round to saving for one. 5. Finally (sorry this turning out to be really long everyone) I traded the Fender for a new acoustic guitar as I couldn't seem to sell it to anyone. (it was just around that period everyone wanted warwicks, and Ibanez basses thanks to the Nu-Metal scene). Im sad it went but I managed to sell the Ibanez and a nice acoustic I had and buy the beautiful 'girl' I have now, the bass I had wanted since before I could play bass. (incidentally it is identical to the bass played by my first bass hero and the guy that inspired me) This is my 1996 MusicMan Stingray, with light birdeye maple neck. I love her so much. Sadly both bands came to an end and I sold the Ashdown rig and a cheap Tanglewood Fretless plus everything else bass related apart from my MusicMan. I haven't really played much for the past two and half years until about 4-5 months ago when I decided to get the girl out of the case. It was a really messy band split and caused a lot of heartache and stress and I lost some good friends, so playing just brought back bad memories. So anyway I plucked the strings and the buzz was there so I went straight on Ebay and picked up this lot. Epifani Quest II Preamp (Beautiful) and after much deliberation and hunting, Ashdown ABM 4x8, Which Is perfect and great sounding. I wanted matching Epifani but it was expensive for me at the time but no regrets the Ash is fab. I wanted something small and powerful and this seemed a good option. The power amp is a cheap backup we had left over from the function bands PA which I will replace once I find a good band and start gigging. The Preamp was £200 and the cab was £250-ish, absolute bargain I think and Im a happy monkey at the moment although I do have serious, serious GAS for an Overwater Progress 5 and Sei Jazz 5. Will we ever be happy with our lot? Cheers guys and gals.
5. sweet jesus, im getting funny feelings. That is stunning. Just out of interest what is the scale length on this beaut?
6. Hello all. Just wondeing if anyone has played or even owns one of the cheaper bacchus basses. I know the quality of the Jap basses but was just wondering if the budget ones were any good? I think they are called the Universe seies?. I have seen a store on ebay selling some tasty five strings for about £200. Any info gratefully recieved. Thanks. NJE
7. Just checked out the videos......really good love the tunes, particularly part 4 on youtube, some awesome grooves you got going on. will be keeping an eye open for you guys. nice basses too.
8. Just thought I'd give a wee bump as this is just the most perfect bass I think I have ever seen. good luck with the sale I wish I had the cash. dont suppose you fancy a stingray???? he he. p.s. anyone sold a kidney recently? heard they go for a bit on the black market.
9. Hello, Thanks for looking at the auction. This is indeed the bridge Stuart Clayton sold a while back. Its from his GB Rumour I think. I had intended to build a bass or at least customize one but it just wasn't viable so its been sitting on the shelf so I thought I would let someone else make use of it. It is not a direct fender replacement but my friend put one on a mexican jazz at it looks amazing and to me, makes a big difference. Thanks for the interest.
10. Im selling a Schaller bass bridge on the bay if anyone is interested. A bass build that never happened. Item number: 190176839659 or just search bass bridge. Also Selling a Bass Clef Baseball Cap that is too small, but never worn, Item number: 190176845108. Thanks.
11. hi there, is the white one the matt finish with truss rod notch and still available? many thanks bumpety.
12. I would love to see a list of bass luthiers from the UK, I love looking at guitars, and quite possible I may have missed someone great...(would hate to get a bass built and then see a cooler one) please please publish the list
13. thanks for the input, I saw the prices and thought they looked pretty reasonable as well, especially now sei have apparently put prices up. I have to admit James Leech having a couple is partly the reason for looking at them. He is a great player but as mentioned he does work them hard at shows so they must hold up......descisions descisions.....I still love all the shuker's on here as well, guess i will have to come up with the spec I want and make some calls. thanks again.
14. Hello all just a quick post regarding Chris McIntyre and his basses. I discovered him after seeing Sikth bass player, James Leech playing is basses. I was just wondering if anyone on the forum had a bass from him or had ever played one? I know he used to build for sei, but was just curious why no-one had a bass from him. Im contemplating a custom build and his guitars look superb, just wanted any info really. Cheers Guys and Gals
15. This looks absolutely amazing, I really cant wait to see this one progress. Gotta say build threads are amazing perticularly Shuker builds. I really need to get rid of my stingray and have something built....jealousy isnt pretty. Congrats, post as many pics as humanly possible.

My collection!

Hi all, I have just found out about Ishibashi and was just wondering how people had found dealing with them? They have some seriously lovely secondhand basses in stock and I was interested to know how much tax and postage people paid to get them over? They have a few lovely G&L asats, and a couple of sadowsky, as well as a stunning jazz made for japanese market and they are all seriously cheap. I recomend everyone take a look if you havent already. I am loving the Baccus by the way, they have seriously got their styling down. How do they compare to say the AlteilerZ and Moon basses? just interested as the site has all three. Cheers NJ
18. That is an absolute stunner. I have heard a lot about these basses and the amazing quality, where can one try one of these bad boys? are there any dealers or shops in the UK or do you have to get them shipped over?
19. Hi, there amazing looking bass, just wondering a couple of things. Are the plate and pickguard original as I noticed the control cover on the back as well. If they were added afterwards do you have any pictures without them both on? Its stunning and i really want an overwater jazz but cant be bothered to wait and prob wouldnt be able to afford one new anyway. Bumperoonie! Many thanks. NJ
20. Cheers for the info. Its about 8 years old I think (havent checked the serial) and im the second owner. The pickup poles are really rusty and scabby and a couple protrude out what seems quite a long way. I may just leave it in but i quite like that smooth cover look and rusty pole pieces just irritate me (im a bit obsessive about clean guitars). I hadnt thought about those delano pickups I remember them being very good when i played a sandberg a while back. As for the nut, good suggestion on the adjustable warwick, I didnt know you could buy them. Will definately look into whether it will fit. Brass does seem to be very popular amongst some big players just worried it may make a bright sounding ray brighter. Cheers.
21. Hi there total newbie here just asking for a little advice on a few mods Im thinking about doing on my stingray. 1. I need to replace the nut on my stingray as its down to the fetboard and was wondering which material to get. Im thinking graphite or brass, but was wondering if anyone out there has either of these on their basses, and how they find them and how they affect the sound. Any other material suggestions would be gratefully recieved. 2. Im thinking about changing the pickup as the pole pieces have rusted and i find them a bit pointy and sharp. i like the idea of a smooth cover (bartolini style). Just wondering if anyone has replaced their stingray pickup and which ones people generally recomend. I have heard Barts are a bit gutless, but interested to hear views on basslines, nordstrands, emg etc. Thanks very much. Nath
22. Thats a cracker of a bass. i followed the link to the sellers ebay store. Is he for real because some of those guitars are going at silly money. Has everyone had good dealings with him because if so I have my eye on a reissue 53 P. I fancy going for a bit of a Sting vibe. Again lovely basses, how come there is never anything about these models on the fender site?
