1. Should note i'd be willing swap for something lighter/smaller pref a 2x12 Probably looking nearer £350 too.
2. I feel really bad that I resurface to flog my wares. However, now i'm back in the fold, i need to shift my Mesa Cab. Its nice, but weighs roughly a metric tonne and just ain't 'my bag' now. I've not really been in the loop for ages, but I think I remember the spec on this as 450W, 8ohms. The only issue, as I recall was the crossover not working properly - so it made a kind of buzz. My 400+ that I used through this (oh, was nice) has developed a 'buzz' of its own, however, making diagnosis a bit more difficult. It is heavy, probably 45+ kg. I have a fitted custom flight case that I got with it. Its a Packhorse one, probably silly expensive when bought new. The tolex on the cab is very very very shabby. The grill is without its Mesa/Boogie badge too This cosmetic wear looks virtually deliberate, but I can't honestly tell. It is a beauty of a cab if you're into your old school power. I'm starting at £400 with the flight case. I will have to get pictures up at some point. Pick-up in Kincardine, Fife. I can deliver for fuel cost within reason (50 miles). I can ship it via TNT or maybe ParcelForce Large, through work. I'll double check. It will be about £50 though. Cheers Jamie.
3.
do you have a van to get this mega rig to gigs? where are you playing, murryfield?
Land Rover Discovery, which can carry a hefty amount Not Murrayfield, or indeed anywhere in the near future - because I quit my band.
4.
You need 2 cabs to run a Strategy full tilt.
Hence why I am sourcing another Mesa 1516, or perhaps a 215. Not sure what exactly to do yet :/
5.
would you have two wives? two 400+s?
Who's asking? The morality, amongst other things, kinda breaks the analogy down somewhat. Not to mention there are really no equal grounds; enjoyment, etc etc. So, yes, I should think another 400+ would be just dandy!
6.
think you should buy my amp! .... seriously... why two the same? something different? hook them up in a bass equivalent to nick zinner's rig (yeah yeah yeahs) or something different would let you play with a second type of amps... not all your GAS eggs in the same basket so to speak!
Yeh, but I'd happily procreate with my 400+
7. I've noticed that both are pretty easy to find, so that isn't a problem. I did notice Foxen's one, but I'm not in the position to buy it right now. I need to decide what I want, and then save Its the only way I can feign the GAS and also not be a complete geardo, and really piss off SWMBO.
8. Quick question. I'm currently wanting to decide what I should put some money towards for next year. I'm going to try putting £100 away a month to get a bit more gear. All I have done in the past 6 months is fester in my own self pity. I sold lots of stuff and kinda want to rebuild my rig. I've got my own place now, SWMBO gave me an assigned man cave room, and I have been given the green light to put some new furniture in it. Call it an investment! Anyway, I was wondering about getting another 400+ - I was thinking that I could maybe just get the Strategy though? I'm crap when it comes to figuring this stuff out, but I guess I could run the Strategy through the 400+ pre or something? I was also thinking about getting another one, or two of the Mesa Diesel cabs. I've got a 1516 and would kinda fancy either another one, or a 215. Any thoughts? I've noticed a down turn in the trend for heavy things. So, thought i'd take advantage of it. I'm currently only jamming with friends after a stint in a band that were doing well. We're just concerned about having fun and making noise, so I realise my thoughts my not be practical or sensible, but meh. Anyway, if anyone could provide some insight into this line of things that'd be cool. Cheers Jamie
9.
Well I might be interested in the 400+ (but not the cab) so maybe there's a deal to be done here?
Indeed. Albeit, s'aright heavy blighter, so i'd need to get my wheels out, therefore need to clear several consequential issues with SWMBO. Still, would be interested.
10. I'd be potentially interested in the 1615 on the account of it being an EV loaded one. PM me with details. I need another 1615, but only if its an EV one. Also, the 1615 I have is a single 4ohm output on mines... but it has been an age since I have so much as looked at it, so might be wrong
11. Cheers guys I've looked at Guild Starfires, GASed for one for ages. I think i will hold out, and start saving for an EB-2 though. It'll be a nice thing to invest £2.5k in i reckon.
12.
Well according to this you're probably looking at around £2000 for a decent condition single pickup model and another £500 or so if yoy want the 2-pickup version. Things to bear in mind are the fact that it's short scale, and Mahogany-necked Gibsons tend to suffer from headstock breaks so check the area where the headstock meets the neck very carefully before parting with any money. If the Gibson is too much it might be worth looking for the Epiphone Rivoli which essentially the same bass with a different name on the headstock. The 60s models tend to command almost the same prices as the Gibsons and are less common, however it was re-issued in the 90s and these are definitely more affordable. If you like the look but want a full 34" scale then have a look at the Warwick Starbass II or the Eccleshall 335 style bass (as used by Peter Hook).
Thats about the sort of ballpark i was told, by the Swedish bloke. Although he said he'd never sell his. Yeh - i guess it'd need to really be checked out thoroughly and bought from someone trustworthy. I've never tried a Rivoli, but i remember enquiring about one a while back. I'm not bothered about the short scale thing, its kinda one reason why i fancy one
13. So, i've not picked up my bass in months - but alas, i have seen the light. I want to get back into some casual playing with the other band fellows that left when i did. What better thing to do than to catalyse this with gear!? I've wanted a hollowbody for a while now, but never had the balls to actually take the plunge and buy one. However, on tour i played a The Cardigans' Gibson EB-2, through my Mesa 400+ rig and ever since, i've kinda wanted one. So, i was just wondering: a) How often do they come up What should i be looking to pay c) Was i blinded by its beauty, and realistically they're crap? Cheers Jamie
14.
Not interested in any trades then?
'fraid not.
15.
pm'd
Reserved to this gent,.
16. Lovely cab. Heavy, loud, orange. Cost me £420 i think all in. Its been on tour, gigged quite a lot and has some wounds to tell the tale. These are merely superficial tolex scuffs and tiny tears. Nothing you should get your knickers in a twist about. Dimensions and weight will follow. Pics also.. £280 collected. Cheers Jamie
17.
bargain!
Yes it is.
18. If you're looking at this, you'll know what it is. I can include the original box and PSU. Its the best controller for Ableton, hands-down £350 i bought this thing for. I've since liberated it of two little black plastic caps which sit on the knobs. They just pop off, so unfortunately they were lost in the midst of a dark club somewhere. I've hardly used this thing, its never had a hard life. No drinks spilt on it or that. Nothing ugly. I'm looking for £260 posted or £250 collected. Next up is a Western Digital Mybook Pro 2TB external HDD as seen here: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3440429/West...cat:Hard+Drives for £390 You will be able to get it cheaper now - I paid about £350 - I'm sure, but use the above link for the specs. I'm looking for £150 all in or £140 collected. KRK Rokit G1's - Lovely speakers, hardly used. They've got a couple of marks on top, but no damage to the cones, they're perfect condition. I'd prefer pick-up on these though - looking for £150. They're lovely speakers, i found them less coloured than the G2s although admitedly the G2s had a slightly better low end response. Only slight though, such that it could've been down to a number of variables. Cheers! Jamie
19. Not much i can say. I bought it from Krispn, who bought it on here, from Clarky, some months ago: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=Catalinbread I've never used it out of my house, and Krispn maybe used it a few times at most. Its a mighty fine blighter, nicest overdrive i've used bar none, but i'm selling some gear from across the board to get money in. I'm trying to ease myself back into the way of playing. £105 posted. Cheers Jamie
20. Okay, so i got my 400+, i went on tour, i fell in love with the M9, i fell out of love with music and now i am easing myself back in. However, i am going to sell this to make some cash I've since had the charger stolen. The box eaten by a guinea pig and some light scratches on the back. I works 100%. I will ask £175 all in. Cheers! Jamie
21. I knew i could count on BC to make me look at things with a bit more rationality. Thank you all very much. Right: Tour was just dire mainly because two members were just obnoxious, and had a domestic on-going for the duration. Their behaviour towards other people and their music, as well as just having a generally stinking attitude. The worst of it all was they seemed to be quite ignorant of any of this - despite us going as far as telling them straight. The plus side was that i've had the experience of playing venues i'd never thought i'd play. We've supported bigger bands, like MONO and also supported some amazing bands from Sweden, Italy and the US. I loved that aspect. Not to mention i made some good connections with people, with one in particular being the label owner. I have actually talked to her about this situation - she said that i should focus on my studying and use music to alleviate any stress and just have fun. At the same time i was to work on getting an EP together with another couple of guys to give to her. She still messages me about it, wanting progress updates and stuff. This is encouraging The only reason i wanted to sell gear was to invest the money, because it seemed sensible. I should've said i have a considerable sum that i was just going to ''add on to''. However, i've since been advised, by more than just you chaps on here, to keep my gear because it is 'safer' than a bank/investment fund anyway. Not to mention i get to keep my gear. Whats more, i've been told that investing some more money in another bass would also be an option. I always did fancy a 60's Jazz bass, or Gibson EB-2? I really must thank you all again for screwing my head on straight. I think its time for me to lose all the supplementary 'techno' crap, like my Ableton controllers and plethora of MIDI stuff, and keep what has become sentimentally and financially quite important to me Cheers Jamie
22. Hey folks, Well, it has been quite some time since i've posted here last. A lot has happened - from getting my dream rig, to touring the UK with the band. Unfortunately the latter is what put all the nails in the coffin. It was such a positively awful experience i wouldn't have wished upon anyone. Further to that, i've decided to concentrate on studying and i just can't juggle the two. Not to mention i've recently gone through an upheaval of moving house since. It has been a busy few months, of which i didn't keep up with very well. In fact, i've let a lot of people down and really disappointed myself in doing so. I just thought i'd post because i'm in a bit of a situation regarding my gear. Do i sell it all, keep some of it or keep it all? It took me ages to get a Mesa 400+ and my rig sounded really incredible. I'm in need of money though, to kick start saving/investment. What is the best way to approach my situation? I'm only 20, experienced being number 58 in the German album charts, have made lots of good contacts and met lots of great people, not to mention i am quite sure i still have plenty of fuel in the tank. Help me good people. Cheers Jamie.
23.
have us seen the P/J 73 being sold by FunkyDario?
I have but 2300 Euro is a bit much plus i don't fancy having something like that shipped from France.
