1. I was a while ago but I settled for an unlined Tony Franklin.
 2.
Hi all, Got a bit of a dilemma here Iam having my MIA Fender Deluxe Precision set up and I am wondering whether or not to stick a new set of strings on it. I currently have TI flats which are fab but a bit I find them slightly "loose". I like the look of the Rotosound Jazz 77 strings I play in a christian group so looking for a nice smooth silky sound. Appreciate any thoughts Deaky
Try some Pyramid Gold Flats from StringStar - link and Basschat 10% off here.
 3.
I'm also now hoping that the CV I've ordered isn't too light! My Am standard is 9.4lbs ish.....and that is just fine. Si
The MIA Jazz that I used to have was over 10lbs - great sound though.
 4.
I wouldn't do it - there are plenty replacement necks which will fit right in there without you molesting a perfectly good neck of some historical note.
+1 - I can't see a good reason for doing this.
 5. Invisible and undescribed but will be sent by courier: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ME:B:SS:GB:1123
 6.
Ooh, kinky!
I know
 7.
The Squier CV has completely taken over from my Lakland DJ4.
I've been at a weekend jam all day yesterday and today. I played my fretless P when needed for the song but other than that I played my Lakland only a couple of times - it was Squier all the way. And I'm not even much of a Jazz bass fan usually. These are definitely cracking basses. I've got mine wearing Pyramid Black Nylon Tapes.
 8.
How much does the CV weigh compared to the American Fender. Also, are there any dead spots ?

No dead spots on mine. Weighs 9.5 lbs.
My CV Jazz is 9lbs 4oz. No dead spots.
 9.
You mean, rather like this...TOTP That's one devilishly handsome bass player, don't you think? Still got the bass. Anyone know where I can get the electrics looked at?
Devilishly handsome and a nice bassline which I have to admit to having copied on more than one occasion.
 10. But +1 on a reissue Guild or DeArmond Starfire but replace the stock humbucker pickups with Dark Stars.

 12.
lol i started on the HH Vs 100 too! theres one in a shop in cheltenham for like £90 which i nearly bought for the memories before slapping myself and realising that £90 seemed kinda steep for a memory trip!
Memories for some of you on this site: http://www.hhamplification.co.uk/
 13.
A drummer without an attitude problem :snob:
That wouldn't only be for Christmas, that would be for life.
 14.
I've got a TSB 650
Is that the same as a TSB-550 but two pickups?
 15.
Niiiiice! If I had the cash I'd BIN......
Me too.
 16.
I'm sorry, but I refuse to have ANYTHING to do with the 'C' word before December .....................
Sorry, but are you confusing this thread with this other thread?
 17.
According to the description it does: Edit: gah. Beaten to it again!
It's the thought that counts.
 18.
Stop putting up pics or I really will have to take up fretless!
Sorry
The eBay description says "the pickguard has been shaved slightly just in front of the Jazz Pickup to stop your thumb being wedged" - you can see it, even though there's no close-ups. Its adjacent to the E string pole pieces on the Jazz pickup
Ah yes, I must remember to actually read what it says. I can see now. Call me fickle but I don't like it anymore. I'm a bit dubious about the idea of my thumb being wedged though.
 19.
Now your Tony Franklin is drop-dead and perfectly proportioned - as shown in Michael/wot's pic .... this on on eBay just looks a little cramped to me (and its a shame to have to shave off part of the s/p). Its probably a cracking bass, mind, and good value if you are happy with the looks
Well, Clarky, here's another of Michael's pics for your edification: Do you think the ebay one has something shaved off the scratchplate? I can't see that.
 20. The funk machine
 21. The J on my Tony Franklin is in (I guess) 70s position = 1 and 7/16 inches from base of the bridge. Bridge pickup on my Classic Vibe is (I guess) 60s position = 1 and 11/16 inches from base of the bridge. And on my American Deluxe P the neck side of the double J pickup is in 60s position but also extends nearer to the bridge of course = 1 inch from base of bridge:
 22.
I can't remember what happened to mine either? Perhaps they escape and roam free in a field somewhere like the one in the pic.
23.
I've never really understood why so many people dislike Sting. Regardless, the guy is a legend and people neglect his contribution to music. I mark him as a great influence on my playing.
I've got to admit to being annoyed by some things about him but I think you're correct about his songwriting and his bassplaying and his singing.
 24.
Think what you like about his tree-hugging, his tantric sex and his new beard - that bloke can sing. And he's no spring chicken. Little bass-player totally made up when Sting compliments him on his rendition of the bass part. Awwww! Thanks for posting this, wombatboter!
Yeah, that was good. I was more disturbed by the fisherman's jumper than the beard. And I would not have minded at all being that bassist.
