1.
Aguilar Tone Hammer: Preamp + Di box. I love them but I just cant get hold of a second hand one =/
I've never used the Tone Hammer, so I can't comment on it's tone. The EBS has the advantage that you can connect your headphones directly.
2. I would choose a decent pre amp as it gives you the be quality and flexibility. But as most pre amps will exceed your budget, my vote goe to the EBS Microbass II, there is (was?) one in the classifieds that meets your budget.
3. I live in The Netherlands. The date on the amp says '96.
4. For sale is my American made Eden WP100 Navigator Preamp. It is a very nice preamp with a good tone and lots of features, but I have other preamps I prefer. The amp is in good shape and can be yours for only 425 GPB, shipped within Europe. Sold.
5. This Demeter is an amazing amp and Grahame is a great guy to deal with.
6. Since I don't use it and need the funds to finance a new preamp my Lehle Dual is up for sale. The device can be used as a splitter or a switch, and it is in mint condition. I asked £100 for this pedal, but it is now gone.
7.
Still available? Price?
Sorry, but this is long gone.
8.
Running the 659 with the 728 might just be my tonal heaven and I dont care for the weight - its worth it
That would be a stunning combo. If it won't work out for you please let me know where the DB 728 can be found ...
9.
Good info, thanks The new 08 onwards Fenders have a slightly thinner coating with Fender's blurb 'allowing the body to breathe' more. I must admit, there does seem to be a difference. They sound exactly how I wanted them to. Its a shame the Highway 1s dont get more coverage....seem like a bargain.
I have an '04 Precision in 3 tone sunburst and an '08 Precision in Olympic White and they sound almost the same. The strings I put on them make a difference but with similar strings it is difficult to hear a difference, so I wonder how much the thickness of the paint actually influences the sound. Unless of course the finish on the transparent bass already was thinner.
10. I'm considering the sale of my Demeter HPB-1. The amp is in very good condition, sounds marvelous and has all the features you need. But somehow I always end up using my Aguilar DB 680.
11. Purchased a bass from Chris, communication was good and transaction was very smooth. There was some shipping damage, but during the whole process I was kept updated and the courier compensated the damage so in the end all was well. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Chris is again.
12.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, but I have a feeling Aguilar will release a lightweight line soon. As long as they stick with their usual program, I'd be tempted. It would have to be quite something to match this DB212 though.
The DB212 sounds marvelous, and looks great in classic black. I know, I have two of them
13. Read Purity and Hevos Dual Tube both gone.
14. Ford? Isn't that the company that humiliated Ferrari with it's GT40?
15. So the Roqsolid covers have some happy users. I'm seriously considering them as well. However I'd still like to know what the difference is with the Aguilar covers. Thickness of the padding, materials used etc.
16. I'm looking for covers for my Aguilar DB 212. The covers made by Aguilar are good but expensive. Does anybody know how the covers made by Roqsolid or Silverstone compare to the Aguilar covers?
17. I'm not familiar with the head, but I have played over a cobra 90 combo. I haven't gigged with it, but for rehearsals it was ok, the sound was ok too. I don't think it is rubbish, but not valuable either. What is the price?
18.
A DSP is a digital signal processor. The Berg IP has one of these built into the onboard power amp, which provides EQ, filtering, compression and limiting to make the cab sound much louder and deeper than you'd expect from something of its size. The XTi amps have a DSP built in and you can download patches for them to you computer and then load them onto the amp via USB, so if you're using them to drive a JBL PA speaker system you can get those patches from JBL's website. Now obviously my cabs are already designed to go stupidly loud for their size, and even more comically loud for their weight, so they don't really need DSP to help. But if it's available then why not use it? So I can do two patches for each cab, one which provides simple highpass filtering, compression and limiting (highpass filter removes all unwanted energy below the tuning frequency to minimise wasted power and excursion, compressor would only kick in once the cab/amp are reaching their limits, and then limiter to kick in after that), and a second patch which also adds EQ to flatten and extend the response in the lows and smooth out response in the mids and highs (in addition to highpass filtering, compression and limiting). Alex
If only it would be possible to try these cabs in the EU in the same way you can try them in the UK...
