Yes, tinted, but satin finish instead of the usual sticky gloss finish.

I wonder what led them to put the price point as high as it is? greed? Or just that they know some mug with too much money will pay whatever they ask?
I just don't get where some of these companies get their pricing structure from.
Are the components , wood of this one of incredibly high value? Or is it just the name at the end of the neck?
I'd like to know their justification for such a price, it just doesn't seem anything like good value to me. Maybe its me and my cheapskateness , but for 7k it better bloody play itself and make me look good (no small feat)
Maybe it's like one of those situations where you don't really want to sell your bass but you list it so your wife thinks you're going to sell it?

Is it true that they're including a "Learn to play bass like Gene!" DVD?

I would've preferred the blonde but saw the Jonny Dibble review prior to purchase so didn't want to risk it. I'm pleased to say I'm very happy with my dakota red P and also happy for the guys who ordered the blonde and got a good one. They really are great basses 👍
I bought a Dakota Red one, too..it's everything you could want from a Precision bass and it looks great!

Yeah, paint job seems to be hit-and-miss. I was lucky with mine. Check out Johnny Dibble's review on YT where he addresses this issue:
Sorry, can't watch that guy!

Is the vintage blonde finish solid or translucent (it looks slightly translucent on the Thomann pics)? Also, is this essentially the same build/component quality as a Squier CV 60s P? Sorry, I know I'm a little late to the party on this!
Yes, translucent...you can see the grain.
I've seen quite a few nice ones but several that looked pretty bad, indeed.
Might be a good idea to check these out in person...this from someone who owns 12 basses, 9 purchased online.
I'd like to meet the genius who thought this was a good idea just to ask him why they weren't painted Dakota Red instead.

That’s a cool idea but not a fan of how it looks. I just want a small thumb rest or something shaped to a thumb.
Zero-Mod makes several different thumb-rests. You can cut it smaller if you like, of course, and it is curved.
Other than that, something like the Bass Buddy thumb-rest should be easy to make with a 3-D printer.

One available here...several pre-orders, too.

Good luck with your new P bass...true P bass tone and the necks feel so much nicer than the necks of their Vintera counterparts.
Pretty much the same sale has been happening here all summer. No wonder Squier's selling more basses than they ever have before, probably moving more P and J basses than similar Fender MIMs.
I wanted a Fender Vintera bass, but not for the USA-made prices Fender was asking for them.
Good thing I wasn't in a rush because I bought both of these on sale last month for less than the price of 𝘰𝘯𝘦 Vintera.

I don't know the weight, I'll have to get it on the scales but it's a very comfortable bass to play. The tuners are hipshots and the body wood is quite light, it balances perfectly, no dive at all, unlike Happy Jack's Wattplower, mentioned above, which was quite divey.
I tried a Reverend a few years ago at Peach Guitars and found it to be very light, which put me off. I commented on Talkbass that it felt like a toy (that was me @sPiKi, I confess, but I've seen the light now). This feels just right, to me at least. I've used it for one 3 hour rehearsal and our next gig is in a couple of weeks, so it will get its christening then.
I'm betting 8.5 lbs or less
40th Anniversary Precision £259 at Thomann!

You're welcome.
I have four new Squiers and the necks are incredibly smooth.
Got lucky with the fretboard on this one, too.
