Yes, my Thundergun is 7.5 lbs, around the same weight.
Korina...most are fairly lightweight.

What DRs were you using? I was thinking Legend flats for this
Neon White...they just don't inspire me.

Another cool Reverend bass...retro looks put in a different league than so many typical FSO basses.
(I'm replacing the DR strings on my Thundergun with GHS black tapewounds, had them on a Thundergun years ago...perfect match.)

I'd argue ('cos that's how I'm wired) there's nothing remotely unusual about a standard Tele-shaped plate - originally fitted to the world's first mass-produced electric guitar! I do quite like that Kay design though. I can be a bit weird about scratchplates - for example the standard Rickenbacker 4001/4003 shape looks like a slapped-on afterthought & is far less integrated & sympathetic to the design of the bass than the original 50s plate. I'd bet a quid Roger Rossmeisl had nowt to do with the redesign!
I really like this one, but it looks like whoever designed the other one started to do it right but then came up blank when he tried to finish it, so he just decided to cut it short...that straight bottom just doesn't look right.

There's a sound in my head ...........
Love my Sandberg VM4, lovely to play, great quality, super flexible ..... but I'd love to try a slightly less "mid forward" sounding bass.
EQ doesn't really get me there, so I wondered ....
Anyone moved away from Sandberg and if so, to what?
How would a MM/Sterling Stingray/Fender Professional II/Performer, be?
Other suggestions?
I'm in the middle of nowhere so it would be great to get a "hit list" and then do the road trip to compare them.
Primary use in Rock Covers band, but with the potential for that Blues/Rock vibe should the need arise........You don't see the Thundergun hanging up in every shop, bought mine online, but I think it's one of the best-kept secrets in the bass world.

This is starting to turn into one of those "are you paying attention?" type clicky quizzes - click on the colour, not the word type thing.
I actually like that "click on the color, not the word" exercise. I'll post it occasionally on Facebook.

Maybe, but neck dive is such an easily-solved solution I haven't considered it a problem since my first Thunderbird.
As for the price? I'd pay $600 for one before I'd pay $900 for one of those humdrum Fender Player Precisions.

Plenty of unusual pickguards out there. I've always wondered why Fender went with this half-assed one. I really like the art deco Kay pickguard, though.

Nice photo for sure...it's all about lighting and the proper angle.
I already have the Dakota Red version or I'd buy it.
Of course, if I walked into Guitar Center or Sam Ash tomorrow and saw it hanging up, I'd buy it regardless.

I know - I picked it up instead of starting a new one - may be I should have 😄? Thanks for replying re: neck size. It's always a consideration for me because I'm not blessed with long fingers - Ibbie SR's make life so much easier.
I like the idea of going to short-scale, but just wanted to see if anyone had comparative experience of the JJ and an SR bass.Unless you need to buy a bargain bass because of your budget, so many better short-scale basses out there than the Junior Jet.
Other than that, one's a $300 bass, the other is a $900 bass.
Are they the only two available?

But that is the thing, you will never pick it up so it doesn't matter that it sounds great. So looks are very important.
Exactly.
All anyone needs to do is look here, on Talkbass and any of the countless bass boards on Facebook...post after post after post where people show off their new basses and people reply "Wow, that looks great!"
I have twelve basses and every, single one I own, I bought because it looked good.
I can't remember ever seeing anyone saying "Hey, my bass is as ugly as sin, but it sure sounds good!"
When I walk into a music store and something catches my eye, I pick it up, plug it in, and take it from there, and when I see something special hanging up amid a bunch of humdrum Fender Player basses, no way I'm even giving the Fenders more than a cursory glance.

Just been told by Thomann that they are expecting these in stock in January 2025! I payed by paypal and they haven't taken the cash so I'm going to leave the order live and see where I am a year down the line, the Thomann person was very sure they would be delivered!
Does that mean Squier is going to start making them again at the end of the year?

Nobody will be buying a Squier Classic Vibe / 40th Anniversary for £600 right now. Unless you're very dim.
Maybe not, but people are buying them for $600 on this side of the Atlantic.

Seriously cool look.
If I see one this nice at Guitar Center or Sam Ash, I'm jumping on it!

Still at Guitar Center here for $389.99, but sellers are listing them for $599.99 on Reverb.

Maybe just expecting stock from Squier ??
Fender hasn't had any in stock for a month or so, unless they had a return.
They 40th-Anniversary basses are out of production.

In stock within 1 to 2 weeks?
Are they expecting a return from a dissatisfied customer?
-
Wasn't sure about using them on a through-body bridge, but they seem fine.
Wasn't sure about the case, either...didn't actually weigh it, but thanks for letting me know.
-
It only weighs 11 pounds!
Seriously, though, if it leaves the house, it will be in my Gruvgear Gigblade gig bag.
The Peavey case isn't exactly light!
