  1. I finally had the chance to play one a few weeks ago.

I didn't expect anything special, but I was wrong.
Tried one out for about 20 minutes.
Enjoyed the pure passive tone so much that I forgot to switch to active!

Let's see what Gibson releases for the 60th anniversary of the T'bird next year. Hope it is better than what they came up with for the 50th though 😞

Is there anything particularly wrong with the 50th anniversary T-bird?

I tried one once, maybe four years ago, and it was nice enough to buy.

Didn't have the money for it, though, even though the price was right.

  3. With so many ever-changing Fender P basses...Fender Professional I and II, Fender Performer, American Ultra, American Vintage, American Original, American Original 50s, American Original 60s, and whatever they decide to go with next time they make an unnecessary name change, the best advice is to forget Fender and go G&L.

Hey, let's call them Aerodynes, even though they're not. That way, we can count on Aerodyne and Boxer fans buying them!

Other than that, I have to say I've never heard anyone call white and two-color-burst vibrant before!

By the way, nice touch putting the white access plate on the green one. That's some heads-up thinking there.

What makes you think this?  I can't stand hardcases.  The only time I'd ever think about wanting something more rigid is if I was travelling overseas, and I'd want a proper flightase for that.

I would say 8/10 high end bass manufacturers/luthiers ship basses in high quality soft or hard-soft cases these days, and for good reason.  They offer more shock protection and support, they're lighter in weight and they often have much more space for accessories.

I always use gig bags, but whenever I talk about them, countless hardshell case lovers chime in about them.

(I also have a Gator Pro Go.)

Mono cases are a good chunk more expensive than a regular ABS case, and far more protective.  Good step foward for me, although it is odd they dropped one of the main Mono features of top loading.

Sure, but it doesn't change the fact that most people prefer hardshell cases.

Mono cases run from $180 to $270...and this new one sure isn't the Vertigo.

Is that really the sound he was looking for?

It sounds a bit like a duck.... quack, quack.

His old Mexican Jazz sounded fine to me.

I think the song in the video would be the perfect backing track for the new Frogger 5000 video game due to hit the shelves next month.

People have been swapping out the three-pointer for years.

What's odd is why they went with the Hipshot and not the Babicz bridge they went with a few years back.  As terrible as the three-pointer is (and what an improvement the Hipshot is over that), the Babicz replacement is a country mile better than the Hipshot (by comfort, design and functionality).

Especially since they used the Babicz on Thunderbirds before.
