I was after a more neutral preamp with a DI that could do the edge of valve breakup sound. I have been looking at this, the Battalion and the Tonehammer. Have to say, the Laney has impressed me in all the soundclips.

Does the Mr Sparkle 808 have the bass boost mod?

Literally could be anything... maybe just buy a set of Sunbeams and compare?

How does this compare with the Tech 21 VT Bass DI?
Big fan of Laney. I really liked their RB series amps.

John East seems like the ideal solution.

Welcome to the secret sauce. A P bass played with a light touch into just some raw basic electronics is the most effective bass tone on the planet. Mid loaded, tight and crisp. With rounds and specially with dead chromes, its a tone that works with just about everything.
Love the bass tone on this song. The signal path? Jazz bass > REDDI > board.

Fender are not a business now but a brand.

Unfortunately, the only real world solution is constant and continued back strengthening and conditioning exercises at least every other day. Just a few simple moves for a few minutes a day keeps everything in check.

Yes, been using one for a few years, it's 90% of what I'm looking for but a little bit grainy with IEM's, so looking for something with a bit of a smoother drive sound.
Phat Phuk B is the only other pedal I can think of that has a 'smooth' drive sound.

Have you tried the TC Spark Booster?

Have you thought about the TC Spark Booster? No valve but an excellent pedal for warming up your signal with some valvey goodness.

Some on the other hand like sterile has it is more neutral sounding with no coloured, 'signature' sound.

I have the LPB with blocks and binding and it's definitely a looker. Had so many compliments already.

Sounds like the neck had too much relief.

I think any 35" scale 5 string would get you there.

I always wear gloves when carefully setting up my DI box and IEMs.
