As much as I loved the ashdown sound I was thinking about trying something else. I like the look of the mark bass heads and the 2x10 cab seems like it would be a good fit for what I need but I’ve got no experience with them and don’t really trust YouTube reviews. I’d say £500/600 for both amp and cab would be my max budget thanks to COVID.
To cut a long story short I sold my ashdown rig a few weeks ago. I’ve used that rig for years so my amp/can knowledge is weak at best.
I’m looking for recommendations for a new smaller rig. Preferably something suitable for small gigs and light weight, also with everything that’s going on the the moment the cheaper the better!
thank you in advance!
These have been catching my eye for ages. I normally play a four string but I’m super tempted by the multi scale. Maybe it’s time I learn to play a 5 string 🤔
Best: A 2008 MIM jazz bass for £200 I’ve always loved the jb but didn’t have the budget to go American!
Worst: A fender ABY pedal. The b channel drops the volume so much it’s virtually pointless, I think I’m gonna have a try and modding it and see if I can improve it!
@TheGreek a combo was my first thought but I think he just wants a head and a cab, so he can feel like the people he looks up to, don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to spoil him or whatever. I’m just trying to be as supportive as I can as playing the bass seems to be doing him a lot of good in so many way.
Generally I’ll do theory at random throughout the day. (Lunch breaks at work etc). TheN15 minutes on scales and scale shapes . 15 minutes practicing a certain technique. 15 minutes improv with a drum beat. Then play along with a few songs. Generally whatever I feel like at the time.
@alexa3020 I like the forward thinking! And that could possibly be a better idea. I was originally thinking about the mini rig to try and keep costs down. But I’ll have a look at the root master! Thank you for the suggestion 😀
Hi all.
I’ve just started to teach my lad how to play, he’s loving it so far, doing well and it’s really helping to bring him out of his shell (He’s very quiet and lacks self confidence in a lot of things).
He’s fallen in love with my ashdown rig, the wife and neighbours haven’t. So I’m trying to track down a mini rig for him to use a as a practice amp.
if anyone knows of one for sale or any where that still has some old stock any information would be greatly appreciated
cheers all!
