Interesting, which color of body You would choose, if someone would say that will give You, let's say, standart 4 string Fender jazz bass, body made of ash. Iwould choose natural flat.

I like lighter strings couse i play with a lighter touch, it let's me play more comfortable. My favourites are D'addario EXL165-5. But obviosly we all think and play differt, do the hard maybe comfortable for different technique players. I think this is non stoppable discussion.

About 19 years ago, i was ordered to go to some music instrument and stuff exhibition. I suddenly saw it and couldn't walk away. I did't even knew a brand that made it, but it looked perfect for me and then we talked over the details about it and i bought it. Here it is - Italian hand made - D'alessandro 5 string fretted nechthrough.

I got a situation, when some band invited me to rehearsal, to jam and discuss the situation. At that time my expierience with bas bass was 20 years. I went to the rehearsal and played mainly with drummer, catched his groove normally and played just 20 minutes. They said -NO, You will not play with us. I got angry and just left. Then i understood that i played to good. I played some difficult grooves and i think they thought - this guy will destroy our sound with that dominant bass. But why did they say me, i could play at 50% easy stuff and just keep a simple bass lines perfectly.

Gary Willis absolutely knows the next note, that is why his solos sound so melodic and never ever the same. He uses his heart, brain and soul together with solfeggio develope a perfect composition.

Technically You can not stop doing that, but mentally - You have to feel the moment when You have got that whole life sound, which You have been looking Your hole life - in Your fingers, brain and heart.

Exactly - if You are not giging then there is no need for rehearsals. And how can You show Your you tube videos and make people love them without showing Yourself live ? I do not see a musician future kind in this way.

I didn't meant the whole full life. As a musician You can clearly live Your 2nd. life - work, family, friends, but if You call Yourself as a musician now, You must do that moving stuff and gig. You can't just sit at home and write C, F,G and call yourself as a musician - these are novadays not Beeethoven.

How can You even compare Beethoven with primitive rock band.

I just ended practising and put my bass back in to the stand and turned away and suddenly my leg swirled the stand and it lost control over the bass and it got out and fell dow right on the floor. In panic i started to check out if everything is ok and - yes, it was fine. D'oh

I can't believe what are You saying. It's musicians hole life. Yes, sometimes it's not easy and boring, but think about that 1 hour You will feel being on stage, every second, minute. There will always be someone liking/disliking Your music, but believe me - it IS worth it. Don't let yourself be lockdowned only because of the gear transporting problem. I actually like better playing every time with my own gig and have it complected the way i don't have problems to carry or put it in to the car. It all starts here !!!
