  1. Pale shelter - Tears for fears
  2. Graceland - Paul Simon
  3. Good score! I’ve got a pair of the same Celinder J pickups in my parts drawer awaiting a bitsa build - I’d be interested in what you think about the tone once you get the beastie.....
  4. Californication - RHCP
  5. Move like Jagger - Maroon 5

  13. A couple of gratuitous shots of my modded 2001 LX Streamer Jazzman (MIG), in French violet finish, which I got a couple of years ago on BC purely for a funk / disco / soul band project, but has proved to be the only “modern” bass able to tempt me away from my harem of vintage pre-1980’s lovelies. It was a decent enough bass as stock, but I made a couple of upgrade mods which have massively improved tone and playability: Original MEC pickups changed for Nordstrand Bigman (bridge MM type, with switching for parallel / series / single coil) and Bartolini b-axis (neck Jazz type). The Seymour Duncan active circuit is excellent, but I’m tempted to put an East filter-based one in there. Original ovangol neck swapped for wenge slim jazz-profile neck from my old ‘98 FNA Corvette. Resin JAN2 nut swapped for brass JAN3 nut Blue luminlay side fretboard markers fitted Gold 3-band EQ knobs swapped for cocobolo knobs (intend to do the same with the stacked vol / blend knob)
  14. Blinded by the light - Manfred Mann’s Earth Band
  15. Lola - The Kinks
  16. This (expired) listing puts weight at 9 lb: https://www.rivercityguitars.com/listing/1978-kramer-dmz-4000-rare-active-bass-aluminum-neck/18093757 Being maple it won’t be light, but I’ve never found any Kramer to be particularly heavy There’s a backplate FS too on eBay (to replace the missing one), but it’d add £100 to the total price: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1980s-Kramer-Aluminum-Neck-Large-Pots-Cover-Plate-Original/333406112778?hash=item4da08d8c0a:g:CgEAAOSw0Ehd1gh1 - easier to make your own or get a metals workshop to fabricate one
  17. Ace of spades - Motörhead
  18. Swords of 1000 men - Tenpole Tudor
  19. Year of the cat - Al Stewart
  20. Can’t stand losing you - Police

  22. Waiting for a star to fall - Boy meets girl

  24. Chocolate girl - Deacon Blue
  25. I’ve got an early (‘91?} Eden VT.40 head that’s been dropped, fallen out of cars, and been abused by support bands “borrowing “ it. Still going strong, and with its Demeter valve preamp gives the loveliest DI tone of any amp I’ve owned. But going back to the letter of the OP (ie SS only and no hybrids) - definitely my Ashdown MK500.
