Oh my god, yes - it coudl be Richard Kniss though. Looks he played all their session work though he was on upright but looks like him from what I can find.

I've long loved this version of Too Much Of Nothing by Peter, Paul and Mary but only now listened to it properly. Oh my word - the bass playing is out of this world

Right. Finally faced up to the fact that I'm not an SG kind of player. Yes, I think it's the coolest guitar ever but having spent a bit of time with a Strat I have had to come to terms with the truth that I'm a single-coil kinda guy - I like clean sounds, I play chords not lead and this thing is wasted on me so time to pass it on. I bought it in 1997 and since then I've replaced the pickups with a DiMarzio PAF Pro and a Seymour Duncan JB, I also got luthier of some repute Jeff Beer to fit coil taps and dress the frets and he did say it was a good example of an SG. I'm also including the leather strap with locks and the original tuners (it's got locking ones now).
It's been played and has a few knocks and scratches but the action is lovely and it sounds great - there's the usual Gibson line along the fretboard but the neck/body joint is fine as you can see in the pics and it's never been repaired.
I'd much rather someone picked it up in person but I've got a box to pack it up and it'll come in a gig bag if you want to arrange a collection at your own risk. Any questions give me a shout.
I'll miss this one but it's time it got the kind of playing it deserves.

That's a VERY good price. I know they've refined things a bit since then but I doubt you'd tell much of a difference without being able to play it against a new one back-to-back. The only thing I'd say is that if you wanted to upgrade to the 3-pickup model it may be more tricky, but personally my go-to tone is both on a-la-Jazz with both pickups on full.

Turns out it was a very easy fix (the bass, not the farting), no re drilling needed. 1.8 mil tapered ash veneer. Neck pockets snug now and everything is thunderously fine. Thinking i,d go too bass hell if i split a working bass....

Status basses have a fair few straight lines but I find them attractive, probably due to the curvey bits giving relief from the straight lines, and the bottom of the top horn flowing back rather than angling down. I'd be interested to see one without that hideous scratchplate on it.
MusicMan are not scared of a "divisive" scratchplate. I mean, they pioneered the toilet-seat look...

It is a strange business. I personally don't care that much about how a bass looks. It can, however, amaze me with how it plays or sounds. I don't know about anyone else, but I really don't notice how my bass looks when I am playing it. If I think it is pretty, more the better, but it is the sound that impresses me most.
I think ergonomics are much more important - a nice feeling neck, body, contours that suit you, but I can be lit up by the look of an instrument. It can definitely inspire my imagination, especially something beaten up that's been used in anger.

It's in the way now so I'm gonna offer it up for a few days at £50. If nobody takes it I'll put it on ebay.
Bought this a couple of months ago to see how I’d get on with a strat and now I’ve swapped my SG for a MIJ Stratocaster and this one is spare. It’s in excellent condition, just been shod with a new set of EB Slinkys and trem arm included. Happy if you want to collect it or have original box if you’d like to arrange courier at your own cost and risk. Selling for the same price I paid for it.
