  1. That might be, but does it reflect in the actual music industry, and musical underground as well, that is the actual music released, and do they all really do all styles equally well? Just because you are trained in something doesn't mean you are good at it. And I am certain different people will naturally have more talent in some styles over others, as well as I would think there is still something to be said for specializing over being a jack of all trades.
  2. I don't think that claim is in line with actual reality. Also seems like an odd analogy that to me doesn't really seem to actually work as an analogy here. Can't tell if you are joking.
  3. As other people have already pointed out the pickups have a much bigger say on the basic tone/character of your bass than any onboard preamp will ever have. So I am going to repeat the advice those other people have already given, if, and only if, you need your bass to produce a different tone, start with swapping the pickups for some different/"better" ones, closer to your personal preference.
  4. Seems like you know disturbingly much about necromancy!
  5. Try take a listen to their "Bloody Kisses" album, without doubt their easiest accessible album, even with a couple of big hits on it. Also metal is much a broader genre than speed, power and trash metal. Such as stoner, doom, sludge or even drone metal. Plenty of energy in these genres, just not speed wise, instead they put the truly heavy in the metal. It's a heft thing, rather than a speed thing. And Type O Negative in general is to the darker and heavier side of the spectrum. Also this is rock, not Celine Dion or Pavarotti.
  6. You hit the nail right on the head there and totally nailed it! 🔨 Time to get hammered! 🍺
  7. No, that isn't a mess and adds up perfectly well: 1000W being twice as loud as 100W. 100W -> x 2 = 200W (+3dB) -> x 2 = 400W (+3dB) -> x 2 = 800W (+3dB) 3 x 3dB = 9dB
  8. As someone else has already pointed out the difference between 200W and 300W will only be something like 1.5dB, which hardly is going to make much of a real difference.
  9. I wish I could afford a Stanley Clarke signature model.
  10. I have had some of my Boss pedals sometimes do this, but not consistently, and in my current setup they are always disengaged when turning the power on, regardless that some of them are always on pedals for me, and that they were engaged when power was turned off. Seems rather random to me. Would be nice if Boss somehow could make their pedals be in the same state as they were in when power was turned off consistently when powered up, like most other pedals on the market. That said it's not exactly that big of an issue.

  12. Yes, and I am sure it did wonders for Syd's declining mental health. And not surprisingly as far as I gathered it was Roger Waters's brilliant idea. And then be sure if they are to record a solo album to get to produce it so you have the chance be sure to show them from their least flattering side, even if the songs actually have great potential, and do an effort to continue to further spread rumors about just how flaky they are. Then just to be sure no one suspect anything write a "tribute" song to them where you make sure painting a picture of them as a completely lost case fruitcake as well.
  13. And folk singers do not need to be able to do this? Based on what? Bob Dylan?
  14. So she became a 'HE'? And because of this single experience with one single female singer you can now conclude that this is how all of them will react, and that this is because they happen to be females? Just what the...

  16. You got a good point there, time to start up the time machine and set things right! On a more serious and constructive note: This!
  17. If you at some point bought any EMG pickups and still have the packaging they came with the foam inside, cut to size, works absolutely perfect as pickup foam.
  18. Love this song, one of the best, out of many great ones, off what got to be Will Oldham's greatest album (yes, even greater than the later "I See A Darkness" album under the "Bonnie 'Prince' Billy" name), "Viva Last Blues", under the name "Palace Music", one of my all time favorite albums overall too by any artist :
  19. Yes, I had a similar experience way back, when I was stupid enough to buy a used vintage 70's Rickenbacker, cause i happened to have that kind of money at that time, and I loved how it looked, turned out I absolutely hated how it felt in my hands, and wasn't too impressed with the tone either, so it quickly ended up in a corner unplayed, as I went back to my much cheaper trusty Aria Pro II Laser Electric Classic bass. Most expensive piece of absolute crap I ever bought!
  20. Here is a guide I made a while back on how to get the most authentic fake guitar/8 string bass effect out of the 1 octave up of the TC Electronic Sub'N'Up pedal, making use of the Toneprint feature:
