I am after a lightweight cab to replace my old Trace Elliot 4 x 10 at 30+ kilos I have been offered a Zoot ZBN 410 4 x 10 a Markbass STD 104HR an Epifani 310UL an Epifan PS210 I was looking for a 2 x 10 or 4 x 10 to sit on top of my TE 1518c and to use for smaller gigs on there own. I have never owned any of these cabs they are all baout the same price £400 any information suggestions advice would be welcome. I use a Peavey T max 500 for big gigs and a EA Iamps 500 for smaller gigs and rehersals skez

I have a peavey tmax rackmount head which although extremely heavy sounds great with two of the new compact Trace Elliot 1518c cabinets. I also have an old 2 x 10 and am thinking of BiAmping which is something the T max is set up to do. My questions are purely techical 1 Are the outputs from the crossover low or crossover high at line level and therefore need further amplification or are they powerd speaker outputs which will drive a speaker cabinet 2 When you plug into the crossover outputs will the normal speaker outs be disabled 3 I also have a peavey BH 500 powered 2 x 10 top box If I wish to use this what output on the amp would I use. If I use the line out would the t max still drive the 2 1 x15s ok cheers skez
What it actually says is +1 / -1. Both sockets are wired exactly the same and in parallel so you can use either or both of them (subject to not going below 2Ω). You can ditch that jack<>jack lead and use a second speakon cable from the second socket if that's what you fancy doing.
Thanks for your help guys so I can use either or both sockets if I choose SKEZ

I have two speakon connectors on the back of my EA IAmps 500 one is labelled 1+ and the other is labelled 1- I plug a speakon to speakon lead into the 1+ socket and connect to my Trace Elliot 1518c neo I then use a conventional jack to jack speaker lead to link the 1518c to anpother cab (4 x 10 or 2 x 10 ) so I never use the 1- socket what is this all about what does it mean should I be connecting in a different way. cheers skez

  22.
Ok maybe it's a different type I've not seen then. Mine has a copper base plate (earth) and the wires are soldered to 2 protruding pins which go down into the pup and connect with the coils (heating these may release the coil wire inside). I'm only trying to help here and don't deserve your sarcasm. I was merely opening up the possibility that the pup had been soldered at the pup end at some point.
You are right you dont deserve sarcasm as you were trying to help and I apologise. I was getting a bit confused. Yes they are the same as in the pic but they appear to be factory soldered and not touched. As half the pickup is working and there is only two core cable then there must be electrical continuity therefore it must be an insulator breakdown causing a short circuit so missing out a load of coils hence the low restance. skez
