1. If the IEC extensions are for a regular kettle lead type thing (showing my ignorance here), can I take one of the 3m ones, please? I will PM you.
2. Built 90s, I think, but hardly any wear. I bought this completely on whim about a year ago, played it very occasionally at home and used once at a rehearsal for a particular track that was later abandoned - it has sat gathering dust ever since. The guy I got it from bought it for a project, after which he didn't touch it - so it has had very little use and consequently in extremely good nick. I will take pics in the fullness of time but list it at the moment to test the water. This is a Korean re-issue - I asked about them on here when it came up for sale and the consensus was that these are much better quality than the Chinese ones. I even have a spare set of strings! [s]I paid £200 and that is what I am asking - it is worth all of that and more.[/s] NOW JUST £175 TO SHIFT IT. Collection from South Benfleet in Essex or postage at cost Until I sort out some pics here is an image nicked off the internet - it is exactly like this:
3. I bought this a few years ago, no longer use it. No frills, no issues - decent enough practice amp. I can take pics if anyone really wants them but it is almost unmarked. [s]£25 [/s] [s]£20[/s] £15 plus £10 postage or collected from South Benfleet. Now sold. thanks!
4. [s]I bought the Dunlop and Big Muff on here recently - orginal thread and pics here: http://basschat.co.u...34#entry1409334 Why I had GAS for a wah pedal is beyond me but it will never get used. Anyway, nice and white Dunlop 105Q wah pedal. Adjustable for degree of wahness and all sorts of things. Bits of velcro on the bottom. Boxed with all the clobber, good nick (and around £100 new!), £45 posted.[/s] [s]The EHX Bass Big Muff was fine when I got it but has since developed a fault - when switched on it makes a whining noise. Absolutely no idea what causes it but I don't have the expertise to repair it. Someone who does can get themselves a bargain at £20 posted. [/s]SOLD [s]Zoom B2.1u is in good nick, with box, power supply, instructions and I think I still have the Cubase CD. No issues. I decided individual pedals would suit me better as I couldn't get my head around programming the thing. £55 posted.[/s] SOLD pending usual Zoom 708 multi FX - decided to keep this for 'emergencies'. Or, of course, collected from South Benfleet in Essex if you happen to be passing for £5 less on each. ALL SOLD!!
5. Washburn Vulture bass on eBay, through neck, original hard case. This is probably 79/81-ish and top quality bit of kit. Matsumoku or Yamaki. Too heavy for me but deserves a good home. 6. Search 'Westone' on here and I am usually one of the first to chime in with praise. Awesome value for money - the necks are as good as anything I have played. Mine were all 40mm wide at the nut, incidentally. Too heavy for my particular brand of lumbar problem, sadly, so I no longer own one. My pimped Westone Thunder Jet is lighter and does sterling service.
7. Yes, nice. I think that may have been mine once? I have (another) one that I have pimped and it is splendid indeed. Amazing necks and lighter weight overall than the Thunder 1A basses.
8.
I used to have one (PaulS now owns it) and loved it to bits. Sometimes I wonder if I should've sold it, but I couldn't get on with the extra scale length. They're easy to string and such and they look quite cool, and they also play and sound really well too. I'd reccommend one
Yes, I have owned three* and yours - now mine - is the best by a country mile. The drop D is extremely handy, albeit a bit in the way as that is where I rest my palm! I know exactly what you mean, though - I don't use mine much so the 'Phantom Headstock, plus full 2 octave neck means I really need to keep an eye on what my hands are doing. * this is a lesson in why you should never sell them.
9. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
10. Geoff, thanks for that, I will PM you shortly.
As there is no headstock, the whole fretboard appears to have moved to the left.
Talking about this with a mate yesterday and he used the expression 'phantom headstock' - I don't know if that is an original but it sums it up perfectly.
11. I have a B2AD for a back-up, bad back bass. Fantastic. Remarkably it can sound like a P-Bass, really woody, despite looking as different to one as is possible. Without wishing a de-railment, does anyone know anything much about the B-Bass? It strikes me that it is a B2A with a body and headstock, if that makes sense.
12.
Nice choice Paul. Got love Stevie and the packet of three. Saw them a few times in a pub down Finchley way.
Garry - keep reading, the other 6 appear lower down under the Youtube link... Gary - only got to Stevie M live once - but what a gig. Humble Pie - same line-up as the Filmore album as far as I am aware. This was at the Kursaal at Southend in, at a guess, 1973/74. But only for an hour! Bitter sweet evening, they were superb but it went too quickly. great memories.
13. One band I play in do a final number which is an 'introduce the band' type thing during a 12 bar 'Messin WIth The Kid' - we all get a turn at it for 2 x 12 bars. I finish the 'solos' with my off the cuff, pre-arranged and much rehearsed solo, for the first 12 then in the second do 6 bars of something I nicked from 'A Packet of Three' live version of 'I don't Need No Doctor' It is the bit at around 4.25 into this: Nice bass on this BTW - I think it is a classical piece but am not sure of the name? Then, as per above, everyone piles back in for the next 6 bars and we finish the track. It works a treat and usually goes down really well. In my other band we play Black Sabbath's NIB which, on the album, starts with a bass wah solo. The other guys keep pestering me to do this but I am not happy about it. What would YOU do?
14. Sounds like he comes back into the chorus too quickly, too at around 3.08... but, yes, anything by Bowie before or around that time was outstanding. Live Ziggy stuff was incredible. His voice had power and a quality to it that he lost IMO by the late 70s
15. Insane price. Someone should snap this up!!
16. I'm not remotely interested in what the headstock says. I have a couple of Fenders that I gig with because I like them and they are comfortable. But that also applies to others - I regularly use a Westone and, if my back is bad or space is short, a Hohner B2A which people will generally take the piss out of. I just enjoy using different basses.
17. I am a huge fan of Westone basses. I think they are superb quality and unbeatable value for money. The shame of it is that most of them are too heavy for me to wear now I have done a number on my lumbar. I had a wonderful Thunder 1A that I would often pick up in preference to my Fenders. My one remaining Matsumoku bass is a pimped Westone Thunder Jet (bought for £77) - made of alder so only around 8lbs, and fitted with better pups and a P-retro - that I use regularly. Sounds huge and plays brilliantly. I have a SPB-3 to fit into it when I get around to it - should be a little better still.
18. It is stunning. Did you manage to find out the weight and neck width? For those of us to whom it matters - 'not very heavy' and 'not very wide' are not very informative! Or, alternatively, where are you and/or the bass?
19. I bought a bass from Ad and noticed this in the corner - looks brand new. Have no worries - Ad is a gent to deal with. And the dog might look scary but didn't eat me even a little bit.
20. And what we all want to know is, when will you start production!?
21. Thanks again. Just need someone with some scales to make an empirical post and we are finished! Yes, John - it would be interesting to know. Ditto my SGC Nanyo bass Collection and Fender Precision Lyte, both of which are stupidly lightweight yet still made of wood. One on eBay finishes in a couple of days - keeping my eyes on it.
22. On hold - interest elsewhere at the moment! And now SOLD elsewhere. Thanks for looking!
