I used to have one in the early 90s. Loved how it sounded and played. HATED how unstable the tuning was until the neck reached the correct stage temperature..

Certainly the case, the alarming thing was how swiftly it would change due to relatively minor temp fluctuations. Maybe they should have considered Titanium or Invar. Main reason I got it was cos it looked great. As a Lefty I even had to play it upside down.

Lady GaGa is a musician and an artist: she should play whatever her muse leads her to. It's up to the listener to then judge the authenticity of what she does and whether it's any good or not.

As far as I'm concerned, she was great singing with Metallica and great singing with Tony Bennett. There's not many singers out there who would be able to pull both of those off...!

I was going to say the only thing I don't like about it is the choreography and dancers (yes, that is one thing) but then I realised if I don't make it clear Lars Ulrich. I don't like Lars Ulrich.

Entirely reasonable (he's a tw@). Their Glasto appearance, he used mallets and appeared to be playing in a different band🤣🤣🤣🤣

I still have my old separates still in use today.

    Sony record deck  - 1976

    Nad 3220 power amp  -  1980 ish

Sony CD player  -  1980 ISH

Phillips CD Recorder twin deck CD  -  2000 ish

    Mission speakers

    Bose speakers

    Speakers run in parallel.

Still have all mine and my wife's vinyl and  CD's.

I very rarely stream or download albums. Only occasional songs i need to learn for bands i'm in. I prefer to buy CD's and have been slowly buying copies of my old vinyl albums.

This. Still listen to my albums but majority of my new/or new to me music is purchased on CD

The headphones may get benefit from different amps. I had a transistor based set first, but now I use a tiny tube headphone amp, and it is the thing. I think it is called Nobsound or similar. Ridiculously cheap, very functional with Stax.

Is the Kenwood's type "Cooking chef", like my friend named one unit he had? There was something wrong with the tape transport.

Mine have their own little Tube Energiser thing. Bought them in 1989 so they might be feeling their age.

Deep Purple's 'Made in Japan' is just a terrific recording. It cost pittance to record, no overdubs, and captures the band at the very top of their game. It is sonically sensational, though to hear it at its very best, the 'Porky' vinyl cut is a must listen on a proper turntable.

It is nearly 50 years since it was recorded, and begs the question what went wrong?, when one listens to many modern rock recordings, that are subjected to brickwall mastering resulting in a sonic mess.

Lizzy's 'Live and Dangerous' is also a killer recording. There are definitely overdubs on it and and Visconti's claims about the level of overdubs and fixes is hotly disputed by the bands members. Regardless, it sounds terrific.

Made in Japan - the way the Bass (Glen Hughes ??) comes over on that album !! Time to dig out my vinyl - haven't played it in ages.

My friend has fixed few HMV 78 rpm players and plays the records in a local bar. The sound is fab, and I like many of the recordings of the time: singers are very good and the level of the bands is pretty high. No overdubs, just studiolive. Wonderful stuff.

Most of my equipment is from 80's and 90's except the CD and the speakers. Many people here love names: Nakamichi 582Z, Technics SL-1210MK2, Panasonic SV-3700, Kenwood KT-6040, Pioneer A-656 & DT-570, Sony SCD-XB770, and Gradient 1.5.

Another, smaller set is in the garage, but there I have only Stax headphones and some valve stuff to drive them.

+ 1 on the Stax headphones. Mine are a little Bass Light but the musicality / clarity is magic.

Have a mix of oldish / newish stuff.

Linn lp12 + Manticore mantra turntables

    Nad CD player

Audiolab 8000 pre amp and 2 X power amps

    Musical Fidelity Mf2 speakers (bi-amped)

Kenwood Cassette deck that I haven't used for ages

Massive 1960s Empire reference turntable that I inherited from my late Dad. (Lives under my bed)

Ah that amp will give every cab just what it needs.

Glad you found what you needed to sit beneath it.

Have removed some pink acrylic wig hairs from the fan ducting, would you like them back ??? 🤣🤣😃🤣

  9. After a heads up courtesy of @la bam I got a Laney Nexus N410 now paired with an N115. Whilst I've indulged in some other Cab GAS these two sound brilliant, seem very well made and are uncannilly light/compact. Paired with a TE Ah500x it's fortunate that we have access to a big space. Have to be very moderate with the volume control.
