  1. I recently bought a new P bass pickup for my 51 bass, however, the pickup cable won't fit through the existing hole going to the control cavity. As the hole is at an awkward ankle, any idea how you increase the size to allow the cable to fit though?
  2. Woops, now fixed 😉
  3. Up for grabs is a custom SB14 I bought here on basschat a few months back. It's a great bass and sounds amazing. Just not getting used So need to move on. Originally customised by the previous owner, It's now running the brilliant Aguiler OBP-1, and has been refinished in lime white wax and shellac. It's good, not perfect. Humbucker is Cat's Whiskers (UK and handwound). About 8lbs, plays brilliantly. Hipshot Ultralite tuners and La Bella Low Tension strings. Luthier setup. Can courier. Free postage Any questions, just ask.
  4. Top marks to the Ibanez team, they can certainly market a bass well. All over socials and YouTube 👍
  5. The ibanez jazz looks great but way too many knobs. Adjustable bridge would have been nice.
  6. Off topic but I can't wait to see what Schecter, ESP, Charvel, and Yamaha have planned for this year. Hopefully something!
  7. I have been looking for a jazz bass with matching headstock in fiesta red for sometime and recently found the vintage VJ4. Thoughts? Build quality silimar to squire? Lightweight or on the heavy side?
  8. Fair Deal confirmed they will not be stocking anymore of these basses. Ordering direct from Nafiri will sadly result in an additional 20% VAT charge.
  9. @Gizmo I just mailed fair deal to enquire. For the price, the construction looks rather good and the finish options look good.
  10. Yep, shame I can't find a UK stockist. The stingray 5 looks gorgeous!
  11. Not sure where actually sells these basses. Hopefully available in the UK. They also do a stingray 5 option.
  12. Any ideas how you remove a squire decal from a painted headstock without removing the paint? Impossible?
  13. At that price, I doubt you would have any regrets. I actually like that finish! I wonder if the neck pocket would fit a standard fender jazz neck? From memory, I don't think when I was starting bass in the mid 90s there was much on offer below £200 😀 Crazy what is available now!
  14. Thanks all. I ended up going with a passive dimarzio relentless p pickup.
  15. Bass arrived safely. Pros Great build quality Perfect set up Looks great Plays great Cons On the slightly heavier side but not too bad. At £399 this was a bargain. However, not sure I would pay the £599 RRP.
  16. Really impressed with scan.co.uk as they send you a video of your bass being set up before dispatch. That's a first!!
  17. Question: Do you think there would be enough room on a standard fender 51 P bass cavity (Control plate) for an active EMG P pickup with battery? Not looking to make any body modification to fit the battery but honestly not sure it would fit. Can't find any info online.
  18. Yep, Think I will need to use a standard template and make a custom Pickguard. It's crying out for a Tele pickguard 😄
  19. Not may Tele type basses on the market with a p pickup for that price so worth a shot!
  20. They don't really offer a wide range of basses. However, I remember the brand featuring a lot in bass player magazine in the mid 90s.
  21. These basses have gone way under the radar. I will share my thoughts when it arrives
  22. The price point is really good but so little online about them. I pulled the trigger and ordered one 😜
  23. Wonder if a standard fender 51 pickguard would fit?
