Not good; not good, either of 'em. The headstock break will be an easy fix. Any decent luthier will make an invisible join; countless Les Pauls have suffered the same fate and been glued up (and so stronger than before...). The arm will heal, too, but it'll sting for a while. Maybe time to give up skate-boarding..? 9_9

He'd only had the Les Paul for 7 months,  paid 2,800€   He won't be happy with a repair although yes, it would be fine.  Chris Leduc would be able to fix it easily and yes, the arm stings like hell. Especially when the antiseptic spray goes on😆

Yes, it did feel a little weird. We'd managed one rehearsal two weeks ago and the singer's other band played a week ago so she'd had a chance to blow the dust off. Great seeing people turn up eager to listen to live music again.  Felt really good to interact with great band mates again. Only down side was all that f@#$%*g equipment they insist on bringing😆

I just hope that enough venues will get to survive.

I say, "the only down-side" however,  I had no idea until just now that my wife had taken a pic of the annoying pillock who'd found a tambourine hanging on the wall inside an decided to join in..sadly, in front of me😂

Congratulations, how was it, playing again? Weird or a relief?

I haven’t played since back in March. We‘re supposedly playing 4 days fron 16th-19th July in Norway. After that it’s anyone’s guess for the remainder of the year.

I had a Status Energy back in the day... well around ten years ago. I sold it because I couldn't get on with the graphite neck. Someone offered me £375 - not for the neck but the whole bass! Keep on walking, son!

Mine has a wooden neck. Fab profile. Love it.

@leschirons - that looks nice, what is it though? 😁

It's  a Status Energy. The 5 string one I  have is 7lbs 8oz. The 4s even lighter. Wooden neck with graphite rods.  Great active electronics, pick one up for £500 or less.

  6. Bars etc opening here in France as of tomorrow (Green regions) As the weather is usually good around now, the few we play are all capable of putting on gigs with plenty of outdoor space to adhere to distancing although, I'm not that keen until there is a vaccine available. We still have a few that weren't cancelled and just got offered another today for August but our drummer is on holiday. Sod's law. Haven't actually missed it as much as I thought I would.

I was in a heavy rock covers band for a while.  The guitarist was very good but because of his family and business commitments and an inability to ever say no he left us adrift at rehearsals multiple times.  Eventually we replaced him and all was good.

That then imploded after just a year or so for various reasons.  Drummer and I decided to pick up the pieces and start another - original guitarist got in touch and said his free time management was far better as his kids were older plus he had a deputy manager at work to whom he could delegate.  First rehearsal he didn't turn up.  Apparently he had to take his rabbit to the vet.  True. :D

    Wasn't Steve was it? 😂

Hi leschirons, interesting view. I also have a parametric on my elderly Yamaha PB1, which I do find very useful to tune my rig to the room I am playing in.

I also have a Vigier Passion ii with semi-parametric mids, again useful. The reason for my post is that I have a Noll three band full parametric preamp which I would like to install in something like a p/j configuration bass, but am wondering if it will offer any advantage over my existing rig

I guess it all depends on how keen you are to achieve a particular result and if you regularly have problems at certain venues achieving that particular result. I must admit, I am a bit of a "that'll do for tonight" kind of a guy. As long as it sounds okay to me (I check out front at sound checks to make sure I'm not too loud, quiet, toppy or boomy) and no-one complains about anything, I'm set.  I had a Vigier Passion with the semi para mids years ago and did actually use the function on that but recent years have seen a change to more traditional and simple controls on instruments for me.

Anyway, good luck on your quest.

  9. I have parametric EQ on my amp and have had it on an instrument and in all honesty,  I  don't think it's ever helped me achieve the sound I  liked on the night. Not much help I  know but if your interest is going to result in you spending money, I'd really think twice about it. Most modern active basses have 3 band EQ on board and I've found that sufficient.
