Thanks.. for the quick reply

How would you describe the neck on these basses? Similar to a Jazz bass?

Get yourself a temp controlled 60W soldering iron too... About £40 on eBay... But much better than a bog standard one.

Hey up Pete, no one answered this question.. I took the plunge and bought a kit during the Christmas break, I build the Lo-FI delay pedal... Was pretty straightforward and apart from putting in one cap in the wrong polarity it worked first time.
I can recommend, the kits... I would recommend to get the pre-drilled enclosure option. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

.. I wonder what my wife would say 😬 beautiful instrument.

That's gonna kill the second hand market between UK and the rest of Europe. 😥

But hasn't the duty already been paid as it is second hand?

I tend to use my bassstation as a waveform generator. It has the advantage you can put it on hold!

Interesting option.. a synth that doubles up as a sig gen!.

How about the calibration signal terminal under the display, @Bobo_08 ?
That's true..! it puts out a square waveform for probe calibration.

Wow, that is a tool.
Well, nearly any signal source is fine like a CD player or a tuner. Maybe even that saw signal from your scope.
Very accurate component values are hardly needed. You want better accuracy, metal film resistors are fine.
My scope doesn't have a function generator built in, I may invest in one if it's a useful to have one, Here is a photo of my scope with a sawtooth waveform generated by an arduino and screen capture of a 12-bit DAC chip I was messing around with.

Hi All,
I want to start building my own pedals, and thinking of starting off with one of the full kits from Jed's Peds, I don't have a chorus pedal or a compressor pedal (I currently use the compression on my spectra drive).
I have seen a PCB online for the original EHX Clone Theory, minus the transformer. Wonder if anyone had built a clone of the clone already?
What test kit do you guys have, I already have a decent 4 channel, 1Gs/s DSO and a cheapish multimeter, which might not be that accurate for measuring some component values. Any advice and recommendations greatly appreciated.
Cheers

How ddid this work out? I thought these required 18v DC, originally they used a transformer 36v secondary, centred tapped at 18v and then rectified and regualted... I could of course be wrong.

Hi All,
I was looking recently at the SoundBrenner Core watch, it seems like an interesting concept, just wondered how useful it actually is compared to just using an app on your phone for example... Is it worth the outlay or is it just a. Bit of gimmack..
Does anyone have any experience?
Cheers

Interested in picking up one of these to play about on. Do you reckon the matte finish will go shiny with play wear? Stunning looking basses for the price!
Difficult to say.. I guess only time will tell... Maybe after a decade of frequent solid playing

Did you lubricate the tuners? A tiny bit of vaseline is all that's needed. All cheap tuners don't come lubricated, so metal rubs on metal. Simple fix. 😀
Hi Hooky,
Indeed I took your advice applied a bit of vaseline with a cotton bud and wound them back and forth a bit and that when I had the issue... The metal is too soft for the purpose.

I pulled removed the old strings they didn't feel great, and I gave the fretboard a good clean, as too had a white coloured residue on mine.. I will give the frets a quick polish when I next remove the strings. As I mentioned be aware potential problems with the machine heads slipping and chewing up the gear.

To be fair I really want a fretless! Any recommendations for cheap and cheerful one @lownote12?
I'd look at HB fretless offerings.

Got one of these - great for the money!
I'm upgrading the pickup to a Gzr as the stock are low output. Expecting to hear a vast improvement!
Let us know how that works out 👍👍

Thanks for the tips on the humming issue guys, i've not had chance to check it out any further yet. However I will be doing soon as I have one of Kiogan's nice looms to drop in there.
I agree the stock pickups have low output, I think I will treat it to some Wilkinsons as previously mentioned.
Howver i have a problem, that two of the tuners are knackerd, as the metal gear is too soft for the job, Thomann are sending me a couple of replacements out under warranty, but to be honest I might well just replace them with some Wilkinson tuners.

Hi mate, I haven't noticed it, and it's something I'm quite sensetive to.
If it stops with you touching strings doesn't that suggest an earth problem?
It could be the fact that the spectra drive isn't actually earthed. It's just a two pin plug on the power supply....🤔

Yeah to be fair I think theres a fair bit of variation in playability on p necks over 25 years.
Suppose it depends on the player preference.
Plus its HBs take on a P.
Yea exactly... There are many variables as you say, manufacturers interpretation plus individual subjectivity being the obvious ones.. Thomann have a nice returns policy... Free return postage.
I returned a Mustang CV earlier this year.. poor QC sadly... Over spray on the neck a significant scratch on the fretboard etc.. but they took it back no problems.

Nice!! Where is this kit from?
