Hello all, a while since I've posted on this thread as my family have been moving 200 miles north over the summer. Hence we are in a new church!

To my surprise I'm playing bass tomorrow morning. I met the worship pastor on Thursday evening for a catch up and trial, thinking I'd slowly be integrated into things over the next few months. But no, straight in!

A few things will be quite different what I'm used to:

    * Playing to a click track

    * Proper length rehearsal before the service

    * Using the church's 34" bass, as all my kit including my short-scale are locked deep in a storage unit

    * No music/chord charts allowed on stage (or, at least, heavily discouraged)

    * Less 'open worship' space

Some of these things I'm very happy about, others will take a bit of getting used to. But overall just really looking forward to worshipping in church with bass playing again.

    Joe

Sounds like they have a pretty Pro worship team of they are playing to clicks (needing IEM if guess) and preferring no sheet music or chord charts on stage.

I'm working on the basis that this particular V6 has KT88 output valves which would sensibly be biased for 35 to 42 watts each. I'm not sure advertising as a 400 watt head is the best policy. Anyhow it's up to any potential buyer to perform due diligence.

Interesting points of view on the power rating of this amp, why should/would anyone diverge from the manufacturers ratings of what the amp can output?

What this logic suggests is, that anyone selling a second hand amp should dig out the schematics to determine the power output before advertising...? 🤷‍♂️

  3. I think in general Thomann do a sterling job, I bought a Squire CV Mustang from them... QC was awful fretboard was damaged. I took photos and they processed the return proving me with shipping labels etc and it was returned to them at no cost to me. Bit different I guess as the product was clear not up to standard.

If I bought something that I didn't use because my needs had changed.. well that's my responsibility. Sometimes things don't ways work out and for those times you just have to take it on the chin.

Advertise it on this forum, maybe someone will buy it from you.

Thomann have always been extremely fair in their dealings and their customer service is Excellent.

I just checked Andertons returns policy and if the item is not faulty you have to pay return postage costs and they are UK based!

Yes - it’s because people would respond to the sale advert saying they are ugly and might break the camera and the board would fill up with all those comments and become unusable

I’ve been here about 8 years longer than you. Yes I do know about mr hall but I also know that free expression of subjective personal opinion is a thing still . I’m not selling a rickenbacker or a copy of one, or discussing it. which was the root of his objection

Yea it was joke... I was exaggerating on their propensity for litigation.

Not a huge fan of their aesthetic either and I get the impression the necks are as thin as a broomstick!

Well it's nothing to do with the looks, and more to do with the litigious owner of Rickenbacker who threatens to sue anybody who even mentions copies of their guitars. So much so that's it's just easier for the forum to ban any listing altogether, rather than police whether or not the items being sold are original.

    Exactly

Weirdly, the all time award winning ugliest bass ever has not been shown. Now it even comes in a colour fitting the shape...

When designers have sh*t in their brain, this is what happens. How wrong can a design be ? Check the photo above...

I love the Bongo Shap and Big Al! 🤷‍♂️

That's kind of my point. I do wonder if anybody would notice the difference between the two in a blindfold test. The same goes for different woods used on a bass

By the time you've added some compression and other effects... I would imagine any difference would be completely lost.

I wasn’t raising the question, merely suggesting that @Bobo_08could lay the ghosts to rest

we’d need a whole lot less popcorn

... I agree it would be a nice little side project, maybe an engineering student out there could even make a undergrad project out of..

Someone should do a FFT graph of string through vs front loading on the same bass so we will know The Answer to The Question (or one of The Questions anyway

That would be interesting... although I don't have a string through bass at the moment. I did write a short script to do just this though.

Sounds like they've been assembled back to front , or just not seated properly in the first place.

Kmise UK on eBay sold Aklot 22:1 ratio tuners which were drop-ins on HB basses , looks like they've stopped selling those in favour of 26:1.

Sadly the 26:1 have a larger mounting plate , think it's the same dimensions as Wilkinson.

I'm sure I actually looked at this way back, but I will double check if they are back to front or not.... I am actually wondering to try a set of chrome tuners from HB, perhaps they are harder material, would also match the highmass bridge.

Absolutely not picking a fight but wondering what is wrong with the tuners? I've never had a problem with mine.

    Hi Stew,

I've not been having a good time with the tuners on this bass, two of the gears got chewed up very quickly, Thomann sent me two replacements no hassle. However when I changed the strings after installing the new bridge, again the gears started to get chewed up and causing the tension to slip. I managed to tune up but I don't think they will last long now. I even lubricated them a little with some Vaseline as suggested a while back, but it seems the metal that the gear is made from is just way too soft for it's intended purpose.

I know there's a whole thread started up about these but I think it's worthy of discussion in the context of this thread too...

I'm all for reissues, but that pickguard is a mistake imo.  Looks ill-thought out and home made and especially out of place seeing as the originals had no guard and rear routed controls.

Don't worry though, it's currently only available in Japan.

    zero effort pickguard

Almost forgot Gus basses. Not sure if those are chrome dildos or those hand rails that pensioners use to get in and out of the bath. Either way an odd choice to stick on a bass.

Looks like the same guy that made Princes basses and guitars.
