That's because they are Burns Tri-Sonic pickups (hence the name of the bass). IIRC the guitar and bass versions are exactly the same electronically, just the covers for the guitar version have 6 indentations on the top and bass version have 4.
Ahhh... this explains it. lol 😊 I should more carefully!

A very battered second-hand example of that was my very first bass guitar, and chosen in preference to a new Grant or Columbus P or J copy partly because it was about £15 cheaper but more importantly because ti me it had something a bit more interesting about it.
The pickups remind of burns trisonic pickups as used in copies of Brian May's Red Special.

It makes me think of texas. It just looks like a badly drawn state map!
hahaha... indeed... your bang on! Maybe those Soviet Luthiers were longing for the lone-star state themselves.

Yet remove them from the history of recorded music and there is a very, very big void.
An unfathomable void!

They’re hideous, probably somewhat fragile too. Still, didn’t stop me trying to buy the pink one that was in the Gallery a couple years ago!I don't know why, but I can just imagine them being made of car body filler...

Not the worst, but I see what you mean... for me its the mixture of angles lower down curves above... looks like two different designs if you draw a line across the slightly offset waist.... but it has a trem!!

Ah. Fear and revulsion triggered by the unfamiliar. It's fine,a nice, safe Precision will be along soon, to make you feel all better.
Yes - I do own an Ibanez EDA900.
Hahaha, I love the Bongo shape and even more so the Big Al shape... quite happy to depart from the safe soft curves of the familiar.

Having just discovered Geddy Lee (I'm still fairly new to bass guitar) I would say he has to be on the verge of genius.... Playing those bass lines and singing over the top of them.. is pretty special.
For me his it's his technique I find incredible, it's like his attacking the bass... Like a battle of sonic wills between him and his bass...
Geddy: "You will give me this tone, you will conform"....
Jazz Bass: "Ouch... You're plucking waaay too hard.... Put me down"
........Ok maybe I need to reign in my imagination a little ☺️

Gigged mine on Saturday and received plaudits from musicians in the audience on my sound!
You still got the stock pickups in Stew?

Bump: Beautiful looking instrument! Wife and I spent a lovely few days in Lucca a few years back, pretty town with impressive walls and not as touristic as Florence etc. 😍
GLWTS! 👍

Apparently when he was 16 he said to the camera guy should he do it naked, then decided it was not a good idea.... hopefully this will get laughed out of court... but then again. If you google him 'Spencer Elden' you discover he is an artist.... a pretty bad one from the looks of it and most likely skint, hence the lawsuit.

Oh I say! The one in the vid sounds great, but I confess I wondered who to shoot for the graphics around the controls!
So to see them gone on yours was a huge relief. How heavy is it roughly?
The graphic is easily removed thankfully. Lovely basses, I have one that has been defretted, really lightweight bass comfortable neck. GLWS.

It's the weekend and my Fender high mass bridge and chrome knobs just turned up from Thomann 🙏.... Can't wait to get the bridge fitted to my PB20-SBK, but first I need to finish of my matlab script for taking those samples with the standard bridge and then the high mass bridge... geek fest!
Bon week-end a tous!

I understand the cause is the server provider Gorilla Servers had a fire, the EEVBlog has also been affected by this too.
