Based on the role of bass and there's no denying Jaco's talent,I'm not sure his style of playing as impressive as it was was what bass needed. Looking at what came before during and after I dare to suggest that James Jamerson's style of playing was more "useful" to bass and popular music in general. As controversial as that may sound. Just to clarify that I'm not a Jaco hater. Jamerson was an influence for Jaco and I can see why.
Very true about the ATK as I owned two in the past. Completely nailed the Stingray sound to my ears. It's not that Yamaha wouldn't shift any of these units if they were produced but the market isn't exactly short of Stingray-type clones. I guess they must have their reasons why they haven't.
I THINK I can see why this didn't go into production based on the failure of the Fender Dimension to gain traction. Stingray fans will nearly always go for an actual Stingray. What we want our favourite brands to be can nearly always be found elsewhere in my experience 🙂
I don't think that it applies to the entire BTB range. Which particularly model are you considering? I played one of the current multi scale models and there was no sharp edge that I remember. If it was there I certainly didn't notice it.
The practice might prevent individuals with a "lesser" income from nabbing a bargain is the only thing I would say along with it can in certain instances over-inflate market-value. But yes we know it's not illegal.
This is because the answer to your question is no. I think swapping "received " for "perceived" is more to the point. The instrument does what we tell it to. Of all the gigs I've been to I've never had an issue with the bassist's weapon of choice. If I have any issues other than sound engineering it's usually the player to "blame" 1964 all-original P-bass with flats or not.
