  1. Frank cannon ...a Quinn Martin production . ( sorry can't do you tube clips )

Regarding Northern Exposure ; it's one of those series that I missed the start , and watched infrequently on channel 4 back in the day

I was thinking of getting the dvd . Does it hold up now ? It's been quite a while since it aired .
Yes, the theme tune is brilliant .

  2. Regarding jukeboxes in pubs : myself and a few friends used to play a game for our amusement . We gave ourselves the task of finding what we thought was the worst song in the jukebox , and put in some coins and play it .

"Sally " by Gracie Fields was the winner . The start of that song  brings manic depression beating the like of morrissey ,and joy Division. Of course we never stuck around , after it came on . We  just went to another pub 😬

As for Springsteen , can't  stand his music but am impressed that he does/ did 3 hr sets  for the fans . My ex boss  idolised him .

I just called it Budweiser music , which annoyed him . 🙂 I did play dancing in the park in a blues covers band , and surprisingly didn't mind it .

I’d probably agree with most of your other choices, but have a listen to the original version

of DITS by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas - pure pop magic, and 60 years old this year.

Sorry, but hated it as a child ...and well nothing has changed . 😬

  4. Not sure if this should be in the effects section 🤔

Anyway , I have the Waldorf Streichfett and the Waldorf Rocket . I'm not sure if I really need the 2 Pole .
The main reason  I think about the 2 Pole, is that you can plug a guitar or bass into it . Probably with an expression pedal .

It has been discontinued yonks ago . The downside to this unit unlike the others , is that there is no midi or usb socket .
Would like to hear your thoughts if you have one , or used one . 🙂

Not one I’ve ever been asked to play (thankfully) but Cher’s ‘Believe’ has to be one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard.

I’d probably put Beyonce’s new country tune in that category too tbh. Ghastly.

Thankfully haven't heard the Beyoncé song . The Cher one was that autotuned thing iirc. I just got the latest rammstein album and there is an autotuned track on that . Didn't think they'd do anything like that

  6. Led zeppelin - Dazed and confused ..that awful video with page wearing the dated  psychedelic shirt. , and that f&%#ing violin bow. Someone should have stuck it up his jacksy .

    Led Zeppelin - Kashmir

Walking on sunshine - cheesy song found in Hollywood films

Faith no more - falling to pieces .. juvenile rapping spoils it . Preferred Chuck mosely on record anyway .

Van Morrison - Brown eyed girl

Simoly Red - Holding back the ears . That poor rabbit . Well, anything by them really .

Bryan Adams - anything I do for you

    Spice girls - Wannabe

Smashimg pumpkins - anything I've heard by them . The vocals sound like an angry poodle .
Dancing in the street - all versions I've heard of an awful song

  7. In the old days of Basschat , there were a few rude comments made about peoples gear that was being sold . Thankfully the mods sorted that out , and Basschat is a good place to sell stuff .
I do feel for you, but times are very tough due to cost of living etc and I hope things improve for you .

Have you tried eBay ? I think that if you started out at a lower price  say £77 for example , and see what gives .

Regarding farcebook , hardly used it so ditched it . It was on Basschat many moons ago, that I heard about the negative issues about selling on it so I never listed anything . Ignore the negative comments , and don't take them to heart. The " people" on there  don't know you , and they probably have posted similar comments on other peoples posts just to amuse theirselves .

  8. Sorry to hear this . How annoying !
Quality control seems to be lacking these days . I have a moog grandmother , my first synth purchased a few months after its release .

About 18 months ago, the pitch wheel became loose and ineffective . My local and close friend who has quite a few old synths from the '80s fixed it for me . Moog were very helpful in telling me how to repair it .
Then a couple of weeks ago, I noticed the input washer at the back fell off ! Thankfully I found it , as it never left my flat.
It was made of plastic , not metal of course .

When moog released the 'dark' version of the Grandmother, the pitch wheel looked different . I saw it up close in Absolute Music .
I'd say they had a lot of issues with that .

One other thing I find annoying , is the very very tiny usb sockets on some keyboards and effects pedals like the Arturia Keystep etc.

Plus those awful power supplies like on the moog Grandmother .

Anyway , I hope things get sorted , and that you do continue your synth journey . Third time lucky and all that .

Yep no more bass but I play guitar too so that will keep my musical interest going but home use only

No big deal really . You're still doing music at home .  I'm happy experimenting with synths ,and pickup a bass once in a while , while trying to improve my recording techniques on GarageBand . Enjoy your new direction

  10. Sorry to hear this Ray .
A lot of stuff is slow moving ,due to cost of living crisis etc .

I have sold a few basses and things on Basschat ,with no issues at all . Selling things like vinyl records though, I found fleabay the best . I don't do farcebook, or bumtree, and haven't really heard any positives about selling stuff on those platforms . Others may not concour , but it's just my experiences.

I had 2 basses for sale last year on Basschat . When I decided to hold onto them , I then got a couple of enquiries .

The only thing I'd be wary of on Basschat , is if there is an enquiry from someone that's had hardly any posts . That' could be me very extra careful though .

Best of luck,on your journey also .

Spent my last £1k on a top end Dell that was meant to see me through a masters and PhD in 2006-7. Timing was peak Vista, it crashed about once a day, and had the blue screen of death needing a full factory reset at least once a week!

Before I bought it, other students had recommended macs, and I was fully “nah! Look how much better the specs are on this dell!” But within 12 months I’d bought my first Mac and I still buy my own macs so I can continue to avoid my employer’s freely provided windows machines 👀

    Windows trauma. I swear.

Yes , windows are a pane
