  1. Nope, got dragged along to see Radiohead. Only drealised they were a 'known' band when they played Paranoid Android and I recognised it... Cornershop -I saw them before they became famous supporting Gong(!) They were utterly dire - noise for the sake of noise, basically Zero Tolerance for Silence less the talent and musicality...
  2. There's a difference between being inspired bgy someone and being inspired by a photo of them 😞 Sorry Norman!
  3. Saw them twice. Once as 'local crew' next night on the guest list as a reward 🙂
  4. There must be some 'rogue' TU3s about, because mine is solid as a rock. As for clip ons, a Snark is £15 so it's hardly worth bothering with a cheaper one unless you are seriously skint.
  5. Saw them supported by a much more impressive Oysterband at Coventry S.U. Despite only being in my mid 30s, I felt very old...
  6. Whee! Here are some of the less obvious bands in my history: Gene Cornershop Chumbawamba Radiohead Here and Now Saxon Hank Wangford Sky Raid the North Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul
  7. Watching Supersonic yesterday, during Oasis' car crash gig at the Whisky a GO Go I noticed the front centre monitor (which did look a bit war-worn) had 'NO FEET' written in tape over the speaker grille. FTFAGOS! The only reason I'm in a band is to put my foot on the monitors!
  8. Just watched Supersonic. Worth watching, but frustrating in that it didn't really explore the music, ended at Knebworth without actually documenting the split. Thing that struck me most was that whenever one of the other nband members was in shot when Liam or Noel was holding forth they either looked deeply embarrassed or were desperately trying to look like they were enjoying the joke...
  9. Most of my hobbies involve trying to make something into something it isn't. :-) This would be pretty straightforward - fit head in a 17" rack unit, cut top off cab, re-cover top, fit jack socket on the back. Nothing that will affect sound or performance.
  10. Depeche Mode?
  11. Soft Cell (I did my list already for FB, but I can't get a right answer 😞 )
  12. Argh! How does he do that with his leg?
  13. Cage the Elephant?
  14. Jools Holland.
  15. Had a go, not sure it's essential when using my favourite setting (tone up, bridge PUP max and a touch of neck pickup) but does help when on neck pup alone.
  16. King King?
  17. Bad Company
  18. The two LEDs are wired 'anti-parallel' so it doesn't really matter as long as the anode of each one is connected to the cathode of the other.
  19. Thought "that doesn't sound remotely like a real bass" so I looked it up and it's a DX7.
  20. Hard to put a finger on it, as it was more sounds than visual. Seeing Bill Wyman on TOTP laying down a groove probably had some influence 🙂
  21. Well folks, I was generously offered the loan of a Dr. J Sparrow. It's great as an amp simulator, and I found it's influence on the sound of the bass was profound, actually 'overruling' pickup selections so it became the main determinator of the sound I was getting, but the overdrive just wasn't gritty enough. So I eventually ordered a MojoMojo which cam this morning. I set everything at 12 o'clock and BANG! There's the sound I've been chasing. All three of the things I want but perhaps haven't been able to express at the start of this search: (1) A distorted sound that 'growls' rather than 'fizzes' - not too bright and preserving the underlying tone rather than imposing all its won character. (2) It gives a compressed sound dynamic but with changing tone, so the distorted sound gradually smooths to a clearer one (just like a good valve sound). (3) It works well up the neck. So I'm happy!
  22. Hmm found some mando tab and it's not even in the same key as in that video. Anyone got a link to a reliable tab? : This chap has it, although I think the real version is messier.
  23. Bowie.
  24. Hopefully not, but taking the strings off and resetting everything might mean it needs a small adjustment.
  25. No... it's too much for me. You'll be enjoying Elaine Page's music from the shows next, no doubt with a glass of prosecco. I need some music with character...
