  1. I thought it was: ./~ nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I think I'll go and eat worms ./~
  2. I got kicked out of an originals band for not playing boring basslines.
  3. I heard a rumour the band was beginning to fall apart.
  4. Yes looks very distinctive
  5. I used to use Danish Oil on a table like that, one coat worked miracles and lasted 2 or 3 years.
  6. I disagree, it's the pups being greenish 🙂
  7. Looks like 36 to me... must be the rhythm version.
  8. He gets around a bit! I saw him with Little Stevie and the Disciples of Soul back in 83.
  9. Four thoughts are: 1 Do I really need it? Realistic options: 2 Get a 5/1/0.1W Guitar head like those in my first post and tweak the tone capacitors to get a more bass-gutar focused response. Main drawback, maybe too much distortion, (maybe) weak bass. 3 When my workshop is sorted, build an amp around a twin 6J1 board (cascade the two stages, use plenty of input gain to overdrive the valves) that I already have (somewhere) as preamp driving a conventional back end. https://hackaday.com/2020/09/01/that-elusive-valve-amp-sound-for-not-a-lot-there-has-to-be-a-catch/ 4 Get the Hotone, actually it's quite appealing and not a big price tag.
  10. I suppose I ought to look at the 'Little Stubby' 🤣
  11. Bit pricey and unlike the cabs, it looks awful - like some 80's Amstrad abomination.
  12. Ooh! Add that to my list, along with Another Girl, Another Planet.
  13. The Hotone is very tempting at the price, even though solid state, and the Joyo is VERY tempting as their stuff is always so good, not sure how I missed it, but probably too powerful . It has to be something very small and not powerful, as I already have an Elf as my backup head. At 120W into 8R I only need something with a handful of watts.
  14. Or use the opportunity to demonstrate your happy slappy skills. Everyone will love it!
  15. My PJB C2 cab sounds awesome with my TE Elf. But I have to admit the fan noise is too great for a bedroom rig, While it's tempting to have a go at making my own head, I've been looking at 'tiny' heads just for an awesome bedroom rig. No point duplicating the Elf with a Warwick Gnome or similar, so how about a small valve amp. I found these two for guitarists, there's also the Micro Terror: Bugera https://www.thomann.de/gb/bugera_t5_infinium.htm Harley Benton https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mighty_5th.htm Has anyone come across a bass alternative?
  16. My first serious girlfriend never let me forget she was there...
  17. My first worthwhile experiences of playing music with people were singalongs we would have in our Uni 'gyp room' - a sort of communal mess for students in catered accommodation - with an acoustic guitar or two and a copy of 'The Beatles Complete'. We also used to sing 'Hey Jude' on the way back from pub crawls and the 'Judy, Judy Baby' bit always happened as we went past a hospital yard near the bottom of the hill.
  18. I should have considered Tru-Oil
  19. I'd like a Riverhead Unicorn, but this 😞
  20. Supper's Ready. Tin Soldier Bouree Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
  21. The bassist in my brother's band fills the gap with overdrive. I like a song to have dynamics and sometimes leave space and sometimes fill it by getting busier.
  22. Yes, I've built it up six coats over six days, now on sixth day of waiting for it all to fully cure, it's made it a fair bit darker. I'm going to use a satin microcrystalline wax for protection. Not gloss as I've left the small natural voids etc. in the wood.
  23. What I like about this is the way you can blend it into a fully gated sound (think Boulevard of Broken Dreams).
