  1. I picked up a good deal today, found this bass on Facebook marketplace for £35 It's nothing special, has a bit of rust on the bridge and pickup, a chunk of paint missing on the back (no problem as I want to relic it anyway), a bent tuner, and I suspect it's plywood or something similar. And the neck is fatter than I'm used to, but it's light and sounds decent. For £35 I'm happy enough! Harley Benton short scale P. I've already adjusted the truss rod quite a bit and changed the strings to my preferred ones (actually they're old ones that I took off one of my other basses a few weeks ago and didn't throw away!)
  2. I don't think so. But the hanger does rock side to side if I make it. Which I shouldn't do
  3. This plaster board is so crap that I feel they might just pop through 🤣
  4. I mean to stick the screw into the rawl plug. The plug is solidly in the plasterboard
  5. This is worrying me quite a lot, but it doesn't seem to be getting worse. I took the hanger off and checked the plugs, and they're in tightly. The hanger does move very slightly when I lift the bass on and off though. I might take the screws out and stick some super glue in there to make sure it's solid

    Mustangs!

What do you folks think of this? Real or fake? Headstock looks altered at the very least, and fretboard looks odd
  7. The neighbour who did mine for me said that his TV is hanging off two rawl plugs like hes used for my basses, so I think they should be alright. Can't say I'm not a little nervous about them though haha
  8. Update for anyone interested! The wall I intended to hang these on turned out to have a solid sheet of metal between the plasterboard and the brickwork. So that was a no go. The purpose of that metal I don’t know. The only other available place was the wall that sits at 90° to that one, which has the airing cupboard on the other side. No studs anywhere to be found in that wall. So I just went with rawl plugs in the plasterboard. Obviously not being a confident sort of chap, I got scared and had my neighbour come and do it for me, he’s good with that stuff 😁

Bump, I wanna see more mustangs!
  10. Really appreciate the responses all, thank you. I’m gonna go buy some better screws and work up the confidence to have a go later today. Another question - as I’m going through the drywall/plasterboard into the studs, do I need any kind of rawl plugs etc?
  11. I don’t know why I call it drywall, I live in the relatively earthquake free south west UK. I’ll update my profile now
  12. Very useful information thank you. Luckily my place was built in 2016 but good to know for any future folk searching for info
  13. Mostly I’d like to keep mine out of the way of my two barmy terriers, who have absolutely no awareness of what’s around them when they’re in full play mode (which is most of the time).
  14. I absolutely see your point, but like Silvia says, I just wanna grab and play (hurr hurr) rather than having to dig one out each time. Plus, unfortunately, I don’t have a case for either 🤣 just one padded gig bag that whichever one is going out gets chucked into
  15. That kinda sounds like twice the work to me!
  16. I’m *reasonably* confident that I’ve got the wooden studs. My mate lent me this weird screw thing with a handle to test... and I also knocked around the wall to find where it didn’t sound as hollow. The construction is definitely wooden studs, it’s a new build, they took all the shortcuts hahaha
  17. Evening ladies and gents. Just got a couple of questions about hanging my basses on the wall. I’m utterly useless at DIY so am nervous about trying this myself, but won’t learn if I don’t try stuff, right? Got my string swing hangers, and I've already located the studs (the drywall in this house is a bit crap (I’ve had a curtain rail fall down in the past!) so definitely putting the screws in the studs). I’m assuming I just use the screws themselves without any other plugs etc? How far do the screws need to go into the studs? When I account for the wood mount of the hanger and the approx depth of the drywall, it only leaves about 1” (maybe 1.25”) of the supplied screws. Is that enough? They aren’t heavy basses, both between 7 - 7.5 lbs, but I obviously don’t want them falling down and getting damaged. Thank you
  18. I mentioned that I assume it’s a copy the label says it was made 7 years after he died so unless he came back for an encore... haha
  19. That’s the main reason I assume it’s a copy haha
  20. Alright so I don’t know if anyone here will be able to help me with this so I’ll ask first before posting a bunch of pics and details. I’ve got this violin, it’s labelled Maggini and dated 1640, but I’m fairly sure it’s a copy. But I’d really like to know more about it, as I think it’s still fairly old. Is there anyone here that knows about violins and could give me more info if I post pics? And as it’s not a bass and I’m not selling, am I allowed to ask for an approximate value? thanks in advance folks!
  21. Okay I threw this together, it's quite similar to the EBSlap patch, but with a bit more grunt. Switched the high eq pedal out for the excited and messed with some settings. Let me know what you think?
  22. I’ll definitely post my patch to see what you think!
  23. I’m gonna have a mess around to find the best slap setting for my ears. That’s the one thing missing from this unit for me so far
