  1. I have six guitars, one of which is a Burns Steer , (not bass), I bought it because it was quirky in style and the colour goes exactly with the room decor, just get on with it !!
  2. Well I tried, James Jamerson, legendary bass player on most of THE motown hits would spin in his grave, (died@47), if he thought you were copying him with a commodore 64, sigh
  3. So, is this job boys and girls ?, boys and boys ?, er, girls and girls ?, and would that affect your contribution? , Mmm ?
  4. I'd be looking at maybe an Ashdown valve combi with 12" speaker, not too big, the company has excellent aftermarket reviews, even on secondhand stuff, it could do from bedrooms to small gigs, when it rains, take yourself to a fair size music shop, try what you can, take your own axe, and if all their stuff is new, look for secondhand of what you like, in Basschat first of course !
  5. No, no, NO !, you want at least a hundred watt ALL VALVE head amp and a big bugger-off bass cab for that floor shakin' radiator rattlin' curtain wafting sound. I have a bus stop outside my place and if the would be passengers ain't turning round to look, it needs turning UP ! Apples ?, really ?
  6. Thanks, I've had a little look on the interweb, ongoing as they say.
  7. Ooh, do they ?, the Hagstrom bridge is impressively big, to me as long as original screw holes are covered, it's a maybe. I'll Google that, thanks.
  8. Hi guys, thanks for the input, yes, intonation with two strings on one saddle is a compromise, but then it was only seven hundred pounds new, you get what you pay for eh ?, I wonder if such a bridge exists ? A custom built loom is a thought, I have one in my jazz bass, that might get to the bottom of whether it's just "me" with the standard stuff if I follow the supplied link to the member who could supply. Flatwounds, StringsDirect cobbled up a set from singles, well seven of them anyway as only seven were wirewound, strings are 34" scale strings to get from through body to end of headstock even though it's shortscale , haven't put them on yet as I think about whats under that pick guard . Thanks again.
  9. Hi folks, any body got a Hagstrom HB-8 like me ?, anyone got any knowledge of electrical upgrades on this interesting but made for a price instrument ?, I've put flatwounds on for an improved feel to me, but I don't know, the pots seem to feel cheap and numb. Any comments or suggestions? Ta.
  10. Hi guys, never had a moments bother with Stringdirect, I haven't tried the pay later option, but the company is always so good down the phone. Got them to mash me up a set of flatwounds for my Hagstrom Hb8, cost me 85 pounds for the privilege, I can't believe they would do something "iffy" and tarnish their name.
