  1. Is that a Tokai Thunderbird? Lovely! Blue
  2. Well I remember reading something about how Fender felt threatened buy the high quality of the Tokai copies. I'm probably the biggest fan of MIJ . If I ever see a Tokai bass I'm buying it on the spot. Blue
  3. Love the sea foam or surf green, purple pick guard and block inlays. Blue
  4. I'll do a little digging. I'm almost certain Fender bought Tokal. Blue
  5. Didn't Fender buy Tokai and it evolved into the Squire brand? Blue
  6. I've heard the Harley Benton knock offs are great. $149.00 Blue
  7. Sly & The Family Stone December 10th, 1969 Madison Square Garden. Band Of Gypsys, 1969 NYE Filmore East NYC. Blue
  8. I've known Al since I was in grammar school (early 1960s). He lived across the street from me. Blue
  9. Was Al Anderson with them at that time? Blue
  10. I don't think I asked if the ad was good. I asked for people's thoughts on the ad and this type of opportunity. Blue
  11. Agreed, While I enjoy playing music I'm not sure I'm a "hang out" type of guy at this point in my life. Blue
  12. The ad is perfect. And if a guy wants to rehearse weekly for 5 gigs that's fine to. A few guys in this discussion have indicated this would be a good opportunity for them. I admit, I don't get the whole social aspect of rehearsal. I would have no interest in this type of opportunity not because they only want to play 5 gigs, because of their requirements. Blue
  13. I've never done that, I guess it depends on the band and the type of gig. If reading is required I wouldn't be able to do it. If it was a 4 hour bar gig I'd also be in trouble. The only way I could cut showing up for a gig with no prior rehearsal would be if it was a headliner show playing a little over an hours worth of material. Blue
  14. Hi Pete, Initially once a week would be fine. After I have all the material down maybe one rehearsal before each gig. Blue
  15. Would 2 rehearsals per week for 5 gigs be acceptable? Blue
  16. I'm obsessed with their requirements not gigs. Blue
  17. That's what I call packed. Blue
  18. In my neck of the woods if an established band, all in tact that's making money places a bass player wanted ad publicly, good luck getting an audition slot. 😢 Blue
  19. Here's another heads up. You respond to the ad because the musianship in their clips seemed very high. I responded to an ad based on what appeared to be a " smokin" guitarist. Then found out he was no longer in the band.. Blue
  20. I love the ads that cut to the chase; "If your looking for money, this ain't it"😁 Blue
  21. Dave, I agree 100%. I have responded to ads in the past where a lot of crucial information was left out. Classic example, the ad is for a bass player then you find out they are also looking for drums & vocalist. You find out it's a remaining member trying to save a sinking ship. Blue
  22. Interesting point. Guys, how much rehearsal is reasonable for a 5 gig a year band? Blue
  23. The ad is not wrong. I don't like the requirements, I personally think they're asking too much. But that's just me. If they were to take out the requirements they might get the wrong guy. I get that, however it doesn't mean I have to like their proposition. Blue
  24. It's an honest ad. It's a fit for certain guys. I still take issue with the requirements. Blue
